I installed the weekly Kubuntu trusty-desktop-i386.iso in Virtualbox (to test cross-compiling because I have nothing but problem trying to mix multiarch and Go), and I notice it seems to be installing the tablet interface by default, not the desktop interface. I didn't have this problem with a 13.10 ISO. What can I do to get it to install the desktop version of KDE? Thanks. [01:23] actually have to head home; will ask again later [01:23] pietro10: if you mean the netbook interface, your screen resolution might've been too small during install: [01:24] you can switch to desktop from system settings -> workspace behaviour -> workspace [01:24] oh [01:24] actually my screen resolution was rather large during install [01:24] it was /after/ install tha t itw as small again [01:24] but if I can swithc like that then sure, thanks [01:25] could've happened at first boot too, not sure when the type is set [02:33] update: kde automatically switches to the desktop interface once the virtualbox guest video drivers are installed and the screen resolution can be proeperly auto-changed [03:05] hi, is 14.04 still open for packages? [03:05] i.e. there is a horribly outdated package of a game and that game will receive an update soon [03:09] vectory_: it's now FeatureFreeze, so that game may need to wait... [03:09] vectory_: by the way, what's that game? [03:22] is it possible to install systemd? [03:27] are people seeing a lot of rendering bugs on intel after the latest update? [03:27] my dmesg is full of things like "drm stuck on render ring" and so on [03:55] Is there a historical list of what has been uploaded to the trusty archives? [04:09] tgm4883_: Try the trusty changes mailing list archives [04:10] tgm4883_: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/trusty-changes/ [04:11] genii, thanks, I'll take a look. I don't suppose there are old dailies kept anywhere [04:12] tgm4883_: That I'm not sure of, but probably not [04:13] genii, yea I didn't see any in my searching. I'll take a look at the list. Thanks [04:13] tgm4883_: Yer welcome [04:49] brb [04:57] Is there an alternate link for daily builds? The CDimage Ubuntu site downloads fairly slow for me. [04:58] attrapereves, use zsync [04:58] !zsync [04:58] Use zsync to update your Ubuntu CD image without needing to download the parts that didn't change. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ZsyncCdImage [04:59] Beldar, as I do not have any previous images, won't the download run at the same speed? [04:59] The ISO is currently only downloading at 230KB/s [05:00] attrapereves, might be the servers just running slow, not sure the general speed. [05:00] Are there any other mirrors for downloading the daily builds? [05:01] Not sure, I doubt it though. [05:03] I get about 500MB with the 64 bit iso [05:03] ER KB [05:03] Currently running at 260KB/s [05:04] With torrents I usually get 1MB+ [05:04] Not really a fair comparison, totally different context [05:06] With wget, is there any way to resume an ISO download? [05:08] attrapereves, zsync should read it and finish the download [05:46] when I attempt to login the screen freezes after I enter the password === zequence_ is now known as zequence === ochosi_ is now known as ochosi [12:23] Hey folks [12:37] Hi, my install is stuck between 13.10 and 14.04 after an aborted upgrade, any advice? [12:39] CullenDM: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=773088 might help. http://askubuntu.com/questions/346678/how-do-i-resume-a-release-upgrade-update as well [12:40] Thanks. [12:59] Ok, so I tried everything from those two threads, but in Details it still says that my system is 13.10. [13:07] Trusty Tahr (development branch) [13:08] properly upgraded from saucy [13:09] anything hot/worthy to explore now?0 [13:09] ? [13:25] freedomrun: referring to something with your nick? [13:25] a game or so? [13:30] jack, what do you think? :) [13:31] not much ;) hence my question [13:32] "could be a game" is pretty much where i stopped thinking [13:35] well as a part of my nick already say, you are free to take it what ever way you like, as the meaning of it can be interpreted in manny ways if related to freedom ... first there was a song with same then I fell in GNU Linux world and I conculded there with it, but everybody can interpret it in the way they want ;) [13:35] jack, ^ :D [13:35] lol, ok [13:42] i wonder why my /etc/issue says Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) [13:42] because i have the -proposed repos enabled? [13:44] or better, is there a trusty without development branch at all? :P [13:45] jack: its in alpha [13:46] so no? ok cool [13:46] i'm relieved :P [13:46] jack: if you want a non dev environment used a released version such as precise or saucy [13:47] nothing against running an "alpha" [13:47] trusty is rock stable so far [13:48] of course i loved it as saucy already [13:48] but it's still perfect here [13:49] yes , a couple of plasma/widget/icon glitches, NM icon disappears when connecting to a vpn server, in my case [13:49] on KDE here [13:50] hrm [13:50] i'm running only muon [13:50] concerning kde [13:50] but otherwise very stanle [13:50] err stable === Pici` is now known as Pici [14:12] Morning BluesKaj :) [14:20] Morning dougl === zz_scottb is now known as scottb === tgm4883_ is now known as tgm4883 [16:28] Right. But I'd like to be able to start something :P [17:06] hmmm - kerbal space program does not work :( [17:36] BluesKaj: Ok, so I was looking a bit more into my computer's wireless driver, and serveral sources say that in the network menu it should say "Device not read(firmware missing)" but mine doesn't.
