[05:13] * nuvolari does the split [05:39] Morning everyone [05:45] o/ hello [05:45] I have a Question, general question and off-topic to ubuntu [05:45] which is: [05:46] why does the warm water tap blow air when there is water cuts in an area, and where did the water go? [05:53] hi superfly and others [06:12] guten morgen meine guten freunde [06:12] guten morgen mein herr [06:17] very limited german i'm afraid :-/ [06:17] wollt ihr das bett in flammen sehen? [06:18] mine is even less [06:18] i learnt german by listening to too much rammstein :-D [06:18] my mom was german [06:18] sigh [06:19] german french cross [06:19] her dad was pure german [06:26] good morning [06:26] hi magespawn [06:33] good morning [06:33] morning inetpro [06:33] nuvolari: i think the water boil inside your geyser as no cold water is comming in. I would turn the geyser of when no water is comming in as it will damage youre geyser's element when it is boiling. [06:34] hi nextime welcome to #ubuntu-za [06:34] hi bduk [06:37] nuvolari: I think it is steam comming out of the hot water tap. Youre geyser is boiling the water as no cold water is comming in. I would switch of the geyser if there is no water comming in as it will burn out the element. [06:38] Sorry for replying i couldn't see the first message i posted. [07:14] morning all [07:14] gmorning [07:16] Morning 60 eyes [07:16] hi Golynx [07:17] bduk, nuvolari, I have noticed that also happens with cold water taps in some cases. You open water drips then its like suddenly the turbo kicks in with backfiring and boom water is flowing with strong pressure [07:20] hmm... [07:23] *is wondering what this has to do with ubuntu* [07:23] probably the fact that ubuntu is a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity. and we currently not getting that when our water is cut off :( [07:24] Mabe the cold water pipes got some air inside that must come out first if you open it? If they worked on the pipes? [07:25] wonder if the municipality will be interested in using ubuntu to provide better service delivery? I am sure there win machines are always crashing hence the reason for delayed and poor service delivery [07:25] LOL [07:26] their [07:26] LOL [07:27] i missed what nuvolari said originally what was the prob [07:27] jammer oom Kilos [07:27] *their [07:27] ai! [07:27] hehe [07:27] hi superfly [07:27] Private_User: I also don't like windowzzz but i don't think that you can blame the poor services on that. [07:27] hi Kilos [07:30] ok thanks bduk [07:30] I've went home and switched off the geyser and turned off the water at the connection [07:31] most modern geysers are pressure type nuvolari so no water in no water out [07:31] I don't really have an issue with Windows except for the cost factor and licensing issue, currently I still use it but slowly phasing it out. I am going fully free and open source [07:31] yay [07:32] although I still have my desktop in pieces [07:32] literally [07:32] i agree Private_User also have one pc at home with win on it but only cause my flight simulater is not working with linux. [07:32] lol mine never has the one side cover on. too many drive changes [07:33] windows is good for games [07:33] You must just remember to switch it on tonight otherwise youre gonna have a cold bath nuvolari [07:33] doesn't linux have an app to enable you to run windows applications which I assumed included games? [07:34] wine its called but i dont have any success with it [07:34] works by the fly though [07:34] but so does everything else [07:36] Me and wine also don't understand eachother thats why i must keep the win [07:36] Why did they make PlayOnLinux , but it still uses wine [07:36] lol [07:36] i think playonlinux you gotta download the games on it [07:38] hmm just seem like a fancy gui installer [07:38] bduk: already had a cold shower this morning :-/ [07:39] eish [07:39] Fortunately it is still summer [07:41] only in the highfeld, my toes are aching from the cold down under [08:06] wb magespawn [08:28] hey Kilos [08:28] some people just like switching off the plugs with no warning [08:28] lol === georgl_ is now known as georgl [08:37] ohi georgl [08:37] hi [08:37] nextime hello [08:38] have been in your neck of the woods this past week [08:38] aha [08:38] on my way back to ct [08:38] whew long way that [08:39] been at sales conference in magaliesburg [08:39] aha [08:39] sitting at lanseria [08:39] oh you flying [08:39] thats easier [08:39] yup [08:39] that trip by car makes sore bum [08:39] flew up on Wednesday morning [08:40] it makes sore ass [08:40] lol [08:40] on plene too [08:41] ai! how long does the flight take [08:41] about 2 hours [08:41] thats better than 15 to 18 [08:41] Yeah [08:41] eat lots then you forget the rest [08:41] hi Vince-0 [08:42] hi Kilos ! [10:57] i queried something with afrihost and then i got hiccup'd [10:58] i did a downgrade that doesn't seem to have taken properly, think they did a port reset to see if that would fix it [11:07] hiccup'd? [11:10] connection drop [11:17] ThatGraemeGuy: ai! So now it's fixed or you connect in some other way? [11:17] * inetpro suddenly can't watch youtube videos after my upgrade this morning [11:18] not fixed yet, i edited my line from 4mbps to 2mbps on monday and its supposed to take effect in 48 hours. turns out there's some glitch on telkom's side so they'll let me know what happens [11:18] audio is playing fine but the output is all pitch black [11:18] connections is fine otherwise [11:18] hmm... inetpro what game? [11:18] ThatGraemeGuy: why downgrading? [11:18] Kilos: any YouTube videos [11:19] hey? [11:19] i was on 2mbps previously, got bumped to 4, but don't really need 4, so i figured i'd drop down to 2 again and save a bit of cash [11:19] urgh how do you survive on 2mbit [11:20] i have a life outside of the internet [11:20] barely use it at home [11:20] oh my inetpro just caught up with the reading [11:20] who cares ;p so do I, but there are things you CANNOT do on 2mbit/second which make life *easier* [11:20] inetpro kde? [11:21] well apparently none of those things have any significance to me [11:21] heh I would struggle to go back to a 20mbit connection [11:21] Symmetria have some cake and stop rubbing it in [11:22] yeah its almost as if different people have different needs. who knew? [11:23] Kilos: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS, KDE and Firefox [11:23] lol [11:23] see that adobe-flashplugin got upgraded [11:24] and adobe-flash-properties-kde [11:24] i dont do youtube so mine is fine [11:24] upgraded las t night at midnight 93m [11:34] looks like not thistime, so, maybe nextime [11:38] wb magespawn [11:38] inetpro you gotta do twitter and g+ for tuesdays meeting hey [11:39] ok, flash seems to be fixed with aptitude reinstall adobe-flashplugin and a restart of firefox [11:39] well done [11:39] aptitude rocks [11:39] no need to do anything on g+ [11:39] why? [17:46] http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/routers/837-adsl-broadband-router/index.html [17:46] i want to learn how to configure it [17:47] cant you get into it with your browser [17:47] my router i configure with the browser [17:48] get the manual for it they explain nicely [17:49] no cisco routers have there own os, and they use a console cable to connect to change settings [17:49] https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/800/837/hardware/installation/guide/837HIG.pdf [17:49] oh my [17:50] whats a console cable [17:50] but they can do a lot more, and this one is one the one for home or small office [17:50] so eth to all pcs in the area or wifi [17:51] Symmetria help magespawn man [17:51] one that connects to the console port on the router, looks similar to a lan cable but the wiring s different and connects to the serial port or through a usb to serial adaptor [17:51] what with your pc? [17:52] or just a keyboard and screen [17:54] well I am using my laptop through the usb [17:54] ah [17:55] when in doubt read the instruction manual [17:58] indeed apparently you can use a browser to configure the router [17:58] brb [17:59] inetpro did you get wet??
