Stanley00I have just upgrade to Trusty yesterday, works great!!! :D01:02
nikolamAnyone you know actually using this to get rid of this 'companion code' in compilers you use: http://www.dwheeler.com/trusting-trust/ ?01:09
rick_hanyone able to help me narrow down where I can look to file a bug in getting 14.04 running on a 2013 air? http://askubuntu.com/questions/425267/issue-booting-14-04-on-macbook-air02:41
rick_hthe boot issue has me puzzled as things seem to just stop for no reason.02:41
rick_hit looks like the various "blank screen" issues around drivers (this is intel) and such but I'm not able to see tht in the kernel start process02:42
rick_hhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/behviox991o01o1/2014-02-23%2016.15.15.jpg is the 'halt' point right at "Booting SMP configuration"02:43

WntI'm having problems installing Skype on a 64 bit Trusty machine. Output of "apt-get install skype" and "apt-get install skype-bin" and some other commands at: http://upload.egarden.fi/apt-get_install_skype_failed.txt Has someone seen similar problems? Why cannot the libc6:i386 package be installed?08:52
BeldarWnt, doing this in a rooted terminal is a bad habit you should be using sudo08:56
WntBeldar: OK08:57
WntAny thoughts about the actual issue here?08:57
BeldarWnt, Not really, I never use skype and this is a development, if I needed it I would use a release is all.08:58
BeldarWnt, skype would be in the partners repo I believe, have you checked the source.list for any repos closed, from a web search I do see libc6:i386 listed for trusty.09:02
Wntthe main cause of the problem seems to be that installing libc6:i386 would remove 1881 packages from my system09:05
Wntmaybe the multiarch support is somehow messed up on my system?09:06
BeldarWnt, If you run a apt-get update and upgrade do you show broken or held packages?09:07
WntBeldar: no held packages: http://upload.egarden.fi/apt-get_upgrade_and_held_packages.txt09:11
Wntand I just ran apt-get update before those commands09:12
Beldarjust curious if it was associated with the skype09:13
BeldarPersonally I always run the developments and find some things wont install I have on a release. I just let it go it is not my main OS and find upon release most are available.09:15
Beldarwith so many independent coders working on so many apps it seems reasonable to me to just let them catch up, I have rarely found it to be other than that.09:16

damasceneHi, my home is getting full and the sum of file sizes are only half of it's space09:48
damascenehttp://paste.ubuntu.com/6986174/09:57
damascene/home/user/.Private   16G   15G  231M  99% /home/user09:57
Stanley00damascene: I saw a encrypt folder that take up as much as your home. Don't know if it's the cause10:09
damasceneStanley00, that is the problem I guess. but the question is why. I saw similar things on ubuntu forums with no answer10:12
Stanley00may be you chose to encrypt your home folder when install ubuntu?10:12
TJ-damascene: That is entirely correct and to be expected, your unencrypted 'view' of your $HOME is the exact same files as /home/.ecryptfs/$USER/10:13
TJ-damascene: However, 'du' doesn't understand overlay file-systems so it doesn't know that those two "6.9G" entries are for the same files, so it adds them together. In fact, /home/ is using 6.9G total10:14

SuperLagawesome :)12:42
SuperLagpretty nasty compiz crash on the latest daily build :)12:42
SuperLagIf I can get into it long enough, to dig into why it's happening, I'll file a bug. But the UI is crashing when trying to do just about anything12:43
SuperLagand this is a fresh download and install in a VM12:43
SuperLaghttp://paste.ubuntu.com/6986805/12:50
SuperLagI think the relevant parts start around line 176612:51
SuperLagI thought, perhaps, it was a matter of not allocating enough RAM to the VM. I started with 2GB, and increased it to 8GB. Same crash occurs.12:54
BluesKajKwin has some issues with crashes and X as well13:00
=== zz_scottb is now known as scottb
SuperLagIt's interesting how two states can be so different... like if you already had Trusty installed, and updated from that... it might work fine. But if you just did a fresh download and install from a daily, it's completely different.13:07
BluesKajwell, already have it installed and the recent upgrades seemed to cause these issues13:14
BluesKajthe features freeze timing was a bit off13:15
