nexus7ltehi, can i use ubuntu touch on my device? nexus 7 2013 LTE09:36
ogra_nexus7lte, yes09:37
ogra_hmm, unless the LTE version is musch different though ... we support the WLAN version (flo)09:37
nexus7lteogra, in ubuntu website it only talks about flo (nexus 7 2013 wifi)09:37
ogra_*much09:38
nexus7lteis there any walkthrough for me to dual boot kitkat and ubuntu touch ?09:38
* ogra_ has no idea if dual boot works on the flo ... dualboot is completely unsupported by us so its a matter of luck09:39
nexus7lteok, forget about the dual boot, how about installing ubuntu touch on "deb"?09:40
nexus7ltethis page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install only talks about flo09:40
ogra_right, i dont really know how much different flo and deb are ...  you could try to force flo with an option to ubuntu-device-flash and see if it works (if it doesnt boot you will have to go back to android though)09:42
ogra_(use -device=flo when flashing)09:43
nexus7lteuhum,09:43
nexus7ltethanks for the tip09:45

KosticHi everyone. I am trying to port Ubuntu Touch to Geeksphone Peak (original, dev one, not Peak+) and I'm having trouble with manual "enabling" of a new device chapter in the wiki page. There is a repo for a port of Android 4.0 for it (https://github.com/reimago/gp_android) which I have cloned in my /home. Can I just copy over kernel/* and device/* from gp_android (cloned repo of the port of Android for gp_peak) to peak (dir where I have phablet-dev-bo10:27
Kosticotstrap'd all the code needed for Ubuntu Touch)?10:27

popeydisposab1e: you need to add your ubuntu one account successfully before you can install apps from the store11:08
disposab1epopey: thanks11:09

disposab1epopey: app installation worked. is there a searchable store application or are the suggestions the only source of touch apps?11:12
popeydisposab1e: there's a search button at the top of the screen . there's no app store web ui or app on the phone yet, but i believe thats all in progress11:13

xenos1984hi all, i have a problem with my nexus 7. i just installed ubuntu-device-flash on my pc (running ubuntu 12.04) and tried to flash the current trusty image. it flashes, but then the nexus 7 hangs in the bootloader, showing a green arrow saying "start". it worked with phablet-flash and saucy before without problems, but i couldn't get the new image to boot so far.12:52
popeyxenos1984: thats the bootloader, start the process with the device in that mode13:06
xenos1984popey: so should i flash with -bootstrap=true ?13:06
ogra_yes13:06
popeyif it's the first time you're flashing, yes13:06
xenos1984actually it's not the first time, i used saucy before that13:07
xenos1984now the device says "booting downloaded image"13:10
xenos19842014/03/01 15:10:37 Cannot push /home/mhohmann/.cache/ubuntuimages/devel/flo/version-206.tar.xz to device13:10
xenos1984and the device is hanging at "booting downloaded image"13:11
ogra_and the device is actually a flo ?13:12
xenos1984according to the wiki it is - nexus 7 wifi from 201313:13
ogra_(the 2013 Nexus7 WLAN model)13:13
xenos1984yes13:13
ogra_you didnt specify -device= or some such ?13:13
xenos1984i did -device=flo13:16
xenos1984it didn't find the device type by itself13:16
ogra_well, it does for all supported devices13:18
ogra_boot into recovery and try: adb shell getprop ro.product.device13:20
ogra_that shoulld tell you the actual device name13:20
xenos1984interesting, it does not boot into recovery13:21
xenos1984it just hangs in the bootloader13:21
ogra_try: fastboot getvar product13:27
ogra_should tell you the name as well (in bootloader mode)13:27
xenos1984product: grouper13:30
xenos1984finished. total time: 0.036s13:30
xenos1984this is what i got from this command13:30
xenos1984but on the ubuntu touch install wiki page it said grouper version is deprecated, so which is the current / up to date version i need to install?13:32
ogra_the images for the grouper devcie are deprecated ...13:33
ogra_(not the device name is ;) )13:33
xenos1984i see, so which is the correct (non-deprecated) image?13:34
ogra_there is no QA (testing) for them anymore etc13:34
ogra_try using -device=grouper13:34
ogra_see if that works13:34
xenos1984it's downloading13:34
xenos1984but won't that install a deprecated image?13:35
ogra_it will install the same image ... but the image has not been tested or verified on that device, might be buggy etc13:35
xenos1984ah, interesting, i have to admit that the wiki page is a bit confusing then13:36
xenos1984now recovery booted13:36
ogra_then the rest should wirk as well ... just wait13:37

ogra_mandel, https://www.dropbox.com/s/o0jh1745js6w3fx/IMG_20140301_112408.jpg there seem to be other issues (not idea if thats s-i or u-d-m)15:42
mandelogra_, well, I already have a fix for udm regarding the scope :)15:42
ogra_:)15:42
Tassadarogra_: bug 128654215:43
ubot5bug 1286542 in Ubuntu system image "keyring DuplicateDestinationError when updating from custom s-i server" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/128654215:43
mandelogra_, oh, that has nothing to do with udm.. yet it is a valid error (the file is there and we are not writing on top of it)15:43
ogra_Tassadar, well, that dropbox link was posted by someone earlier, seems he left, so its hard to tell if he ised your server or if this is a general error with s-i15:45
ogra_*used15:45
TassadarI've changed my index.json by hand to make updates working for now, so it should be fine now15:45
Tassadaryeah, tasemnice.eu is mine15:45
Tassadarit shows the address in there15:45
ogra_ah, cool ... thats calming15:45
ogra_so nothing wrong with s-i in itself then15:45
Tassadarsystem-image.ubuntu.com won't encounter it, because it doesn't need to generate keyring tarballs - it uses the official ones15:46
ogra_right15:47
Tassadaralso, sound doesn't work for me on N5 on the second call, even after those fixes. Might be something else wrong with the sound on that device :/15:47
ogra_we simply had s-i and the download manager land two images ago ...15:47
asacogra_: all good? :)15:50
ogra_asac, semi good15:50
ogra_asac, system-image seems fine, click package installs dont15:50
ogra_asac, mandel urgently needs a device. cant be that our download manager gets developed by someone flying blind15:51
mandelogra_, fix done => https://code.launchpad.net/~mandel/ubuntu-download-manager/install-correct-path/+merge/20893615:51
mandelasac, yes, it would be very nice.. I trusted people following the test plan for udm.. and they did not15:52
mandelasac, it landed after being "tested" by 5 people15:52
mandel:-/15:52
asaccan we backout?15:52
asacmandel: sure, i thought we already got you a device allocated15:52
* asac checks15:52
mandelasac, it breaks the click scope, but here you have a fix => https://code.launchpad.net/~mandel/ubuntu-download-manager/install-correct-path/+merge/20893615:53
asacmandel: who tested?15:53
ogra_asac, not easily, i think system-image and u-d-m would have to be reverted together in any case15:53
asacmandel: cool!15:53
mandelasac, well, system image updates work, so we can use them to add a new udm15:54
ogra_(apart from the fact that there is nobody driving the CI train on weekends)15:54
mandelasac, the unit tests cover the regression but I cannot test it properly with no device15:54
mandelogra_, yeah, I suspect that not that many of use work over weekends :)15:54
asacso we could backout and land properly monday15:54
asacbut...15:55
ogra_mandel, more than you think :) thats why we need a solution for CI at some pont15:55
mandelogra_, well, I get all bugs to my phone, if they are urgent I'll fix them in the same day, no matter the day :)15:55
ogra_asac, well, backing out would mean uploading the old package with a new version still .... would have to happen manually15:55
asacogra_: well, the secret is to have more core-devs trained that then can sponsor stuff through the train15:55
mandelralsina_, can you do that ^15:56
ogra_asac, you cant really force people to work on the weekend though ... we need voluntary community involvement in the CI train IMHO15:56
asacogra_: well, if its a firedrill15:56
ogra_and for that the system needs to be better i guess15:56
asacyou guys work :)15:56
ogra_i dont work15:56
ogra_:)15:56
ogra_i chat :)15:56
asacbut you are here15:57
asacas i said, in general core-devs... if there are no community coredevs15:57
ogra_right (and indeed i planned to do some stuff later) :)15:57
asacthats a separate problem15:57
ogra_we have community core-devs ... but none of them can drive landings via CI train15:57
asacif we are sure that backing out ss and udm will fix stuff15:57
asacwe could do that through direct upload to mitigate i guess15:58
asacogra_: not yet.15:58
ogra_but thats a distinct problem ... imho if we want to make CI a default the weekend will need coverage15:58
mandelasac, it will revert the changes do to correctly upload via the UI but will fix the click scope15:58
asacupload via UI?15:59
mandelasac, the system settings ui showed a bug in the system image updates daemon (it cannot handle several requests at the same time)15:59
asacthats the bug we wanted to fix for 2 weeks?16:00
asace.g. the one you and barry worked on so hard?16:00
ogra_mandel, asac stop :)16:00
mandelasac, yes!16:00
ogra_the s-i issue is server indicated ... its a community server16:00
ogra_dont worry about that one16:00
b3h3m0thwill Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 support Ubuntu Touch ?16:00
ogra_the official server works fine16:01
mandelogra_, I'm taking about what the revert would mean16:01
asacogra_: so we dont have a problem?16:01
ogra_asac, not with the current s-i16:01
mandelasac, so, no problem in updates, problems in app installations over click scope16:01
ogra_and if mandel's fix works that should be the way forward16:01
ogra_so we dont need to roll back s-i16:01
asacsure16:01
mandelexactly I would not roll back anything, it means rolling back 3 projects!16:02
ralsina_basically, fixing one bug created another and noone followed the full testplan because everyone loves shortcuts and here we are.16:02
ralsina_plus, the full testplan implies a device which are somewhat rare in mandel's team16:03
mandelasac, ogra_ we have a fix, people can be without installing apps a sunday or rollback16:05
mandelon monday we get this landed and get people to really test it16:05
ogra_well, "people" shouldnt use -proposed images anyway ... sadly many do :)16:06
asacmandel: if its just installing apps its fine16:07
asacas long as we know we can upgrade still16:07
ogra_yeah, its just click16:07
asacif not we should block the build asap so nt more people end in the death trap16:07
asachehe16:07
ogra_all fine :)16:08
ogra_(kind of at least )16:08
mandelasac, ogra_ yes, is just apps, so for a day they are fine, they have a fix and I can create a ppa if needed with that branch16:08
ogra_and popey's bug has a workaround (roll back to 212)16:09
asacyeah, then lets not firedrill here16:09
asac(or firedrill further)16:09
ogra_right, i'll see if i can get the fix tested for monday16:09
ogra_just pugrading y flo to 21416:10
