cwaynefginther, hey, about http://s-jenkins.ubuntu-ci:8080/job/savilerow-trusty again -- can we get a fresh branch of lp:savilerow on that machine?01:42
cwaynewe made a new trunk to get around a ridicuously messed up bzr history, so a bzr pull isnt properly working01:42
fginthercwayne, I can clear the existing branch again, not a big deal01:44
jhodapp|afkvthompson, can't wait to get the core apps using the media-hub by default :)01:47
fginthercwayne, is the branch ready now? if so I'll kick a build01:47
jhodapp|afkvthompson, I'm very close to getting the video portion working which means landing media-hub won't be long after that01:48
vthompsonjhodapp|afk, awesome. I'm looking at the API again now in prep for our discussion at vUDS tomorrow. I tried installing from trunk, but there were a number of dependencies I don't have... Is there a PPA somewhere?01:50
cwaynefginther, yep01:50
jhodapp|afkvthompson, not yet no, the media-hub packaging is needing review (by me)01:51
=== jhodapp|afk is now known as jhodapp
vthompsonjhodapp, ok cool01:53
jhodappvthompson, I hope to get video working tomorrow and ricmm will have background playlist support working soon too01:53
jhodappvthompson, once we have both of those, media-hub can become default01:54
vthompsonjhodapp, awesome. I think we can go through the migration without any growing pains as well. Once the media-hub lands, the music-app can release an update with QtPowerd set to off.01:56
vthompsonThis should prove that we are working outside the lifecycle exception we have.01:56
jhodappvthompson, indeed...I'll definitely ping you while we land media-hub...I've been doing a lot of testing with both mediaplayer-app and music-app01:56
vthompsonThen we can quietly remove QtPowerd and the lifecycle exception in Unity01:56
jhodappindeed01:57
vthompsonWhen you test do you toggle QtPowerd to not keep the app alive?01:57
jhodappvthompson, and ricmm is testing the playlist support mainly with music-app01:57
jhodappvthompson, I haven't done anything with that yet, that's another thing I have to do still01:58
vthompsonjhodapp, I'll have to ping ricmm then. I hope the transition is fairly easy.01:58

dpmhi rsalveti, I've got a question related somehow to media playing and jhodapp mentioned you might know. Do you happen to know where the shutter sound for the Qt Camera component comes from and how to deactivate it? I believe it is something we add on top of upstream Qt, but I cannot figure out where in the platform to look at.13:30
dpmThe background being, I've got an app that does continuos camera shots and analyzes the images, and it's not so optimal to hear the shutter sound continuosly.13:30
dpmIn the upstream docs there is no mention to this sound and there are no properties related to it, so I was wondering if it's something specific to Ubuntu, but I'm not sure where to look at or who to talk to13:30
rsalvetidpm: the sound file itself is available in the android system partition, and used by the app, let me find the code13:31
dpmrsalveti, ok cool. Note that I'm talking about the QML Camera component, not the camera app, though13:32
dpmthat said, the camera app does use the QML Camera component too13:32
ogra_rsalveti, i assume we could do some kind of "reverse bind mounting" into the container to have it linked up with a file on the rootfs13:32
rsalvetiqtubuntu-camera-0.3.3+13.10.20130919.2/src/aalimagecapturecontrol.cpp13:32
rsalvetim_audioPlayer->setMedia(QUrl::fromLocalFile("/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg"));13:32
ogra_so it would become configurable13:32
rsalvetiI have no idea why they decided to put that sound part in the abstraction layer13:33
rsalvetiinstead of adding it to the app13:33
jhodapprsalveti, yeah, I thought it'd be in the app too13:33
rsalvetiogra_: reverse mount is too complicated13:33
rsalvetiogra_: we need to improve the app to let it support different sounds13:33
ogra_or that .... reverse mount sounded somewhat easier to me :)13:34
dpmrsalveti, ok cool, that helps me further. I guess the answer is that the sound cannot be disabled for the QML Camera component, as it is in the abstraction layer13:34

rsalvetiplease open a bug for this13:34
dpmrsalveti, ok, thanks. What project is the best one to open the bug against?13:35

janimo`stgraber, do you have a summary of your analysis of overlay filesystems for device specific changes added to the ubuntu rootfs? I understand it had been evaluated before using the current solution16:09
stgraberjanimo`: so the main concern was that maintaining overlayfs would be a major pain given that it's not mainstream and that all devices tend to come with their own kernel. So we preferred to stick with the same methods as are used by Android since we know those will work with the android kernels. Besides that, lack of inotify is one of the usual problems we'd bump into and there was also the concern of how to deal with merging between overlay16:11

cyphermoxstgraber: ack16:16
cyphermoxstgraber: yeah, I added it, I see that the directory got loop mounted now, since I had a file and it disappeared16:16
cyphermoxbut when I stop urfkilld it is supposed to write state and the file never appears16:17
stgrabercyphermox: hmm, check the permissions, though they should get automatically mirrored. If that's not it, then maybe urfkill is somehow starting before mountall (that'd be pretty bad)?16:19

stgraberstart on started udev16:20
stgraberthat's wrong16:20
stgraberI suspect you at the very least want "and virtual-filesystems", possibly "and filesystems"16:21

jdstrandcyphermox: this is actually quite burdensome for me-- is there anyway I can disable the mtp logging locally? eg, go rw and tweak some file?17:41
Shakordavmor2: Alright so tell me what is different with your and my tel/build?17:41
WebVisitor-6hey guys. Did someone tryed to enable touchpad gestures on 14.04 ?17:41
ogra_jdstrand, try blantly adding ">/dev/null 2>&1" the the end of the exec line ?17:41
cwaynethomi, weird though.. why couldnt we just run the autopilot tests with sudo -iu phablet17:41
cwaynewouldn't that get the right upstart stuff setup anyway?17:42
ogra_or modify the logging capabilities of the upstart job17:42
cyphermoxjdstrand: yeah, you could modify the /usr/share/upstart/sessions/mtp-server.conf file to redirect all output to /dev/null17:42
davmor2Shakor: no difference it's a standard build17:42
Shakordavmor2: exactly. Then why is my keyboard acting this crappy and yours is not? :)17:42
jdstrandogra_: right, between that and what cyphermox gave, I'm there17:43
davmor2Shakor: are there any crash files in /var/crash17:43
Shakordavmor2: Can you please go to accounts and add an google account for testing? Try pressing the . on the keyboard while adding your username. See what happens.17:43
ogra_jdstrand, theoretically you should even be able to put an override job in /home/phablet somewhere ... so you dont need to make the phone writable17:43
ogra_Shakor, no issues for me after upgrade17:44

jdstranddu -sh /home will recurse all of /home, no?17:59
ogra_i thought only unhidden dirs17:59
jdstrandas opposed to du -sh /home/phablet/*17:59
timppadavmor2, ogra_ it's a bit slow to open but it does work :)17:59
davmor2timppa: open settings, choose accounts, long swipe from the right, close both from the dash, open settings, try opening accounts18:00
ogra_timppa, well, i cant open it again here18:00
ogra_jdstrand, the fact that the partition used for /home is also the same that all writable pieces of the rootfs live in might have some influence on the values though :)18:01
jdstrandbut, I did du on all the hidden directories anyway, and they don't add up to 4G18:01
jdstrandah, that is the bit I was missing18:02
timppadavmor2, ogra_ nevermind my mumbling, it does not work. I did not close the settings...18:02

Mark_KI'm having a problem. I've just installed Ubuntu Touch onto a 2013 Nexus 7, but I can't get it to connect to my wifi network, which has a hidden SSID.23:36
Mark_KI found this question describing a solution: http://askubuntu.com/questions/262155/how-do-i-connect-to-wireless-network-with-hidden-ssid-on-ubuntu-touch but because my desktop has a wired connection, I have no settings file to copy to the tablet.23:36
