Kekaihow can I make my netbook not over heat?02:23
KekaiWhen I ran ubuntu it took 5 hours to heat up, but now in xubuntu, takes an hour and its hot.02:23
holsteinKekai: its like not "now xubuntu does this"... its more likely either a different version of ubuntu, or a different graphics driver02:24
Kekaianyway I can make it run cooler?02:25
holsteinKekai: depends on driver support and other factors02:25
holsteini usually clean the device, then move on to driver testing02:25
Kekaiit maybe unclean last time I used the duster was back in october02:25
Kekaior september02:26
slimjimflimhi idk if this is an xfce issue or an xubuntu issue, but after my last update/reboot, xfce no longer remembers when i disable my touchpad04:02
slimjimflimhas anyone else had this problem?04:02
slimjimflimi uncheck 'enable this device' and click close and when i go back to the 'mouse and touchpad' window, it's enabled again04:03
slimjimflimthis sucks particularly bad bc when i type, my hands hit the touchpad and that fucks up w/e i'm typing04:04
TheXI'm just curious, Does Xubuntu need any king of Virus scanner?05:43
cfhowlett!virus|TheX,05:43
ubottuTheX,: Antivirus is something you don't need on !Linux. except where files are then passed to Windows computers (perhaps using samba), See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Antivirus05:43

cfhowlett!password05:59
ubottuForgot your password? See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LostPassword What's the root password? See !sudo. Don't see *** in password prompts? That's normal. Sudo doesn't ask for your password? It remembers you for several minutes. Please use strong passwords, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/StrongPasswords05:59
Guest12931i have root pass05:59

cronhi, i tried adding a custom action to thunar to mimic linux mint's 'Open as superuser', using the command "gksu thunar %f" but it doesn't work (nothing happens). anyone know of a workaround or what i'm doing wrong?19:40
nikolamcron, hm, gksu thunar itself works fine..19:47
elfycron: which version of xubuntu?19:48
Unit193cron: Is gksu installed?19:48
cronnope. well then... that explains a lot!  thanks Unit19319:48
Unit193'Welcome.19:49
croni swear that i had gksu installed... okay it works as expected now. never underestimate the power of incorrect assumption i guess.19:51
elfythat was why I asked :)19:51
elfythat said in 14.04 I've got gksu installed and the custom action that worked in 13.10 isn't ...19:52
Poisoned_Dragonwhat's %f for?19:53
Unit193%U I'd think would be more normal?19:54
cron'the path to the first selected file'19:54
Poisoned_Dragonwell, %f fails with an error, when run from terminal.19:54
cronwhat's %U for ?19:54
cronPoisoned_Dragon: it should work if you specify a folder to open19:55
Poisoned_DragonAh, I see19:55
Poisoned_DragonSo, the %f is suppose to fill in the folder location.19:55
Poisoned_DragonBut, I've seen most commands that link to locations use %U outside of this particular situation. Perhaps change the variable to %U19:56
cronyeah it seems to work with either %f or %U19:56
Poisoned_Dragonhow did you make the shortcut?19:57
* elfy made it work in 14.04 - ignore him 19:58
Poisoned_Dragonlol k19:59

elfyPoisoned_Dragon: ^^19:59
Poisoned_Dragonthanks elfy. I also found the xfce page on the subject.20:00
cronahh, i see. %u is the same as %f except it also does urls20:00
croni'll stick with %f in this case20:00
cronuri's**20:01
David-Acron: ("url" is okay with me, "uri" is too fuzzy a concept)20:03
Poisoned_Dragonyup, I got it too.20:07
