Maybe I'm just missing it, but where could I find the prebuilt ubuntu rootfs images? [20:33] Is it necessary to deboostrap it? I was of the understanding a stock armhf image existed. [20:49] "ubuntu-core" is a rootfs tarball with no kernel, if that's what you're after. [20:50] applepi: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-core/releases/ === cmagina is now known as cmagina-away [21:33] infinity: okay.. if I wanted to get ubuntu running on an SD card on an ARM board, with as little pain as possible, what instructions should I follow? I've found several different images, methods, suggestions, etc., and nothing works. [21:35] applepi: If it's a device we don't support, the answer is something like "you're on your own". [21:35] applepi: And I suspect that's the case for you. So, you need to provide the bootloader and kernel, then jam that into a rootfs (like the above) and see what happens. [21:36] applepi: Every device is different, so there aren't really any sane written instructions I could even write to tell you how to do that generically. [21:36] infinity: should the generic kernel and rootfs not work? [21:36] applepi: The generic rootfs will work fine. The generic kernel almost certainly not, unless it's one of the few devices supported by it. [21:37] infinity: I have the device tree for it, and from what I understood, support for the chipset was enabled in the generic kernel. [21:37] applepi: What is "it"? [21:38] infinity: mx6slevk [21:38] Ahh, well, then, "maybe". [21:38] mx6 support is on in our kernel but not all boards are completely enabled, I suspect. [21:39] stgraber may know more, but he seems to be avoiding this channel today. :P === cmagina-away is now known as cmagina === cmagina is now known as cmagina-away
