valoriesucks that phoronix is reporting that03:32

mitya57shadeslayer: Hi, is lp:~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/pykde4 ready for upload?05:36
mitya57I want to upload it in a couple of hours, for sip transition.05:36
lordievaderGood morning.08:58
mitya57ScottK: apparently I can't upload a qscintilla2 rebuild. Can you do that for me please?08:59
mitya57-mobileshadeslayer: As you were not here, and I needed the transition today, I went ahead and uploaded the current pykde4 from bzr.10:38
yofelmitya57-mobile: saw the message too late, that'll end up in depwait unless you also uploaded kdelibs and kdepimlibs10:41
yofelmitya57-mobile: we're ~done with .95 so I'll try to upload the rest10:43
kdeuser56damn somehow apport is terribly broken in 14.04 ... can't produce any backtrace for any package ...10:46
kdeuser56yofel: apport does not like ninjas ppa ... i guess because of the missing signature ... kded crashed and kcrash was not invoked/crashed so only way to go would be apport. Using apport-retrace does not work ... despite all debug packages etc. 10:48
yofelI didn't have much luck with apport-retrace either when I was looking into a kdeinit4 crash.10:49
kdeuser56yofel: is martin pitt on irc?10:49
yofelkdeuser56: pitti in #ubuntu-devel10:49
=== DarthCodus__ is now known as DarthCodus
kdeuser56yofel: when you pass the -R option to apport retrace you will see it does not find packages that are not from official sources:11:02
kdeuser56yofel: E: Can not find version '4:4.12.95-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.04~ppa2' of package 'kdepim-runtime'11:02
kdeuser56E: Unable to find a source package for kdepim-runtime11:02
yofeloh, do you have the deb-src line for ninjas?11:02
kdeuser56yofel: deb-src?11:05
kdeuser56yofel: what do you mean by that?11:05
yofelkdeuser56: I gave you the apt url for the PPA, that's for the binaries. You need the same line starting with deb-src so apt get fetch the sources11:06
yofel*apt can11:06
kdeuser56yofel: ah damn ...11:06
kdeuser56yofel: thanks ... I am an idiot 11:09
yofeluh, I don't think that's that obvious usually, so not really :P11:09
kdeuser56yofel: now I can generate kind of a backtrace ... but every second line is of the form:   [Error: ../../../kross/kjs/kjsscript.cpp was not found in source tree]11:10
mitya57-mobileyofel: When will you upload kdelibs?11:20
mitya57-mobile(The freeze is tomorrow so every hour matters)11:20
yofelmitya57-mobile: It's easiest if I upload everything as a batch, so I'll try to get it done within the next 2 hours11:21
mitya57-mobileThanks, that would be nice.11:21
BluesKajHiyas all11:57
kdeuser56yofel @all got my first baloo crash. Go to /var/crash ... there should be some files if you had crashes recently ... then hover over the files in dolphin .... (slowly, so that the preview on the right dolphin panel changes) do that slowly all the time... baloo file extractor will go crazy on cpu .... I got one or two crahes doing this12:18
kubotu::qt-bugs:: [1295835] qdbus is missing dependency over qdbus-qt5 @ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1295835 (by Julien Aubin)12:22
yofelmitya57-mobile: are you MOTU and can upload a couple packages for me? Our packageset is outdated :(12:49
yofelIf not it's not too important for now as nothing of that should block pykde412:49
yofelIn any case, rejected were: artikulate, baloo, baloo-widgets, kfilemetadata, kqtquickcharts, kwalletmanager, libkomparediff2 if someone would be so nice to upload them12:49
mitya57-mobileyofel: Sure, I can. From bzr?12:50
yofelyep12:51
mitya57-mobileWill do in ~20 minutes.12:51
yofelthanks :)12:51

ScottKIf mitya57 comes back, let him know I did qscintilla2 after all.13:33
mitya57yofel: Uploaded.13:50
mitya57ScottK: but you uploaded it :) Thanks.13:51
kdeuser56yofel: something very weird is happening here14:44
kdeuser56yofel: I can reproduce baloo file extractor crashes when I store large crashdumps and stress baloo with some additional stuff .... 14:44
kdeuser56yofel: somehow the kde crash dialog is not invoked ...14:44
kdeuser56yofel: and I am getting wird python stuff in the apport traces 14:45
kdeuser56yofel: okay forget about the python stuff, I found the reason14:46
kdeuser56I am no expert, but that backtrace looks somehow weird: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33247715:25
ubottuKDE bug 332477 in Files "Baloo file extractor crashes on large files, e.g. crash dumps" [Crash,Unconfirmed]15:25
BluesKajkdeuser56, do you have use for file indexing/search ?15:26
kdeuser56BluesKaj: what do you mean?15:27
BluesKajkdeuser56, if you were using nepomuk in the past then baloo is it's replacement15:28
kdeuser56BluesKaj: i know ...15:29
BluesKajand it's obviously still buggy15:29
kdeuser56BluesKaj: no, its pretty stable and works pretty well imho15:29
kdeuser56BluesKaj: try it ;-) the performance is amazing15:30
BluesKajkdeuser56, i have no use for file searching since I'm just a home user who keeps things simple15:31
kdeuser56BluesKaj: we are talking here about text files of 20mb that triggered the crash. These are files simple users wont have in their home directory. So for normal usage baloo is completely stable if you ask me15:32
BluesKajkdeuser56, then why the post about the baloo bug?15:33
kdeuser56BluesKaj: after all it's a bug ...15:34
BluesKajuhm ok15:35
ScottKmitya57: I misread your request the first time.  I thought you were asking me to upload all of them.  One wasn't a big deal.15:36
shadeslayerkdeuser56: just wait for vHanda to get back on Monday :)15:39

BluesKajthe broadcom sta wifi driver in additional drivers on 14.04 disconnects every 10 mins here, so it's unstable on BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter which is very common on laptops15:54
BluesKajand NM still shows connected when it isn't15:55
shadeslayeryofel: btw we need to modify backport scripts to remove my QT_SELECT=qt4 patch for startkde17:12
shadeslayersince precise doesn't have QtChooser17:12
shadeslayeroh what fun17:17

yofelshadeslayer: uhm, if precise doesn't have qtchooser, what would bother with QT_SELECT?17:51
* yofel just had his notebook freeze17:51
yofelit's been a while since it did that17:52

sneleguys people have problems in 14.04 after todays updates18:13
snelethey cannot log into kde18:14

sneleI just did update to, and indeed qdbus-qt5 package is not installed after updates18:15
snele*too18:15
sneleand in forums people say that without qdbus-qt5 installed you wont be able to boot into kde anymore18:15

kdeuser56yofel: why does "apt-get autoremove package" not remove "package-dbg" ?19:33
yofelkdeuser56: it will never remove anything that you manually installed19:34
yofeldebug package make no difference there19:34
yofel*packages19:34
kdeuser56yofel: how can one mark the dbg package to be autoremoved?19:34
kdeuser56yofel: marking the dbg package here as dbg does not work here either, because it wants to remove dbg packages all the time then, because nothing depends on them19:35
kdeuser56*marking as auto19:35
yofelyou could use 'aptitude markauto <pkg>', not sure if you can do it with apt-get or dpkg19:35
yofelthat's per-package though19:36
kdeuser56yofel: I know, I already did that, but then when I type "sudo apt-get autoremove" it wants to remove the dbg package, because nothing depends on it19:37
yofelhm.....19:37
yofelnot sure how to do that. the kernel packages ship it's own postinst hook that creates /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01autoremove-kernels to handle autoremoval of that19:39
yofelotherwise debug package are no different from other packages19:39
kdeuser56yofel: thats pitty. can one manually define rules when installing a package? example mark this package A for removal if B is removed ?19:40
yofelwell, not... really. At least I don't know any other way than the one that the kernel folks use. Then again, I don't know all obscure apt features19:41
kdeuser56yofel: :-( not even with dpkg? 19:44
yofelpossibly, I don't know19:44
debfxdpkg has no concept of automatically installed packages19:46
kdeuser56:-(19:46
yofeloh right19:47
debfxthat flag is stored in /var/lib/apt/extended_states19:47
kdeuser56where is the file that stores all dependencies?19:48
kdeuser56A dirty hack would be to inject a dependency in that file ...19:48
