[21:50] <Fuchs> elfy: technically you don't have to be _on_ the primary nick, but you need to specify the primary nick. Some clients don't allow you to do that (which is silly)
[21:50] <Fuchs> as far as I am informed, hexchat uses the "username"  (which is also your ident, but that doesn't matter anyway), so you can just set the primary nick there.
