dpmzsombi, on the DatePicker component, is there a way to change the order of e.g. "26 Saturday" to "Saturday 26" in the day picker? I've read the documentation, but I still cannot quite grasp whether that is hardcoded, modifyable, or set from the locale. The reason I'm asking is because in my locale, the ordering "$DAYNR $DAYNAME" should be the other way around: http://i.imgur.com/JXt1w7N.png10:14
justCarakasis that datepicker also comming to HTML5 ?10:15
dpmjustCarakas, alex_abreu can probably tell you more when he's online in a few hours10:16
popeyor daker ?10:16
zsombidpm: the format and the order is taken from the locale, and seems than in your case Qt returns the wrong default value10:16
dpmhm, that's weird, it surprises me that the ca locale has wrong ordering and it would have gone unnoticed for so long, but I'll investigate, thanks zsombi!10:18
zsombidpm: this is what DatePicker uses to get the format: Qt.locale.dateFormat(Locale.ShortFormat)10:20
zsombidpm: try to print it out. if you see the order is right, then we need to check DatePicker10:21
dpmok, cool, will try that10:21
mihirzsombi, why the colors looks weird any idea?10:28
zsombimihir: that's a vague question :) define works wrong :)10:29
zsombior works weird :D10:29
mihirzsombi, got it , because in my it shows correctly..need to look at that..10:29
zsombiehh... looks weird... I have too many chats :D10:29
dpmzsombi, is there a way to define the default minute increments in DatePicker? bug 1297725 suggests to use 15 or 30 minute increments to set event times, but after reading the docs I cannot see a way to see the increment in DatePicker other than by the minute10:31
ubot2Launchpad bug 1297725 in Ubuntu Calendar App "Event time selection should be in 30 min increments" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/129772510:31
mihirdpm, i guess we can set the HOURS and TIME10:34
dpmmihir, how do you mean exactly?10:35
mihirdpm,   I had set date based on the text box like that..10:36
mihirhttp://paste.ubuntu.com/7161994/10:36
mihirthis* , so there should be a way to set time as well.10:36
zsombidpm: do we have some visuals for that bug?10:37
zsombidpm: I do not see reason to use DatePicker there to be honest...10:37
zsombidpm: as that picker would have two tumblers, one for an hour and one for two values in the minutes tumbler, which is insave and visually bad10:38
mihirzsombi, you meant to say, in setting time ?10:39
zsombimihir: yes... I'm looking at the proposal png in the bug10:40
zsombiits' ugly!10:40
zsombitwo sliders...10:40
dpmzsombi, we don't have visuals. I don't know how we could actually implement it, that's also why I added my last comment that in any case we'd need a way to specify the individual minutes. I was just wondering if there was any way to set the increment to another value than 1 minute at all in the picker. I think if we want that functionality requested in the bug, we'd need a time picker similar to the one clock uses for alarms10:40
dpmoh, I hadn't seen the picture!10:40
* dpm looks10:40
mihirzsombi, agreed.10:41
zsombidpm: mihir: I'd suggest you to use one Picker, and put 24hstuff in it with a step of 15mins10:41
mihirdpm, in that case our old timepicker which has been developed by Kunal will work10:41
zsombimihir: the only issue with it is that you have to have it in a popover :/10:41
mihirzsombi, if you have quick time10:42
mihirhttps://code.launchpad.net/~mihirsoni-123/ubuntu-calendar-app/1248130/+merge/21230510:42

* zsombi looking10:42
justCarakasthx dpm10:42
mihircan you look at this MR. just pull it , we just kept date chagne and time is as usual old which was there earlier in Calendar10:43
dpmzsombi, regarding the question on locale ordering on DatePicker, Qt.locale().dateFormat(Locale.ShortFormat) doesn't seem to be where it's getting it from. That returns "dd/MM/yy"10:44
zsombidpm: and isn't that the way DatePicker show th edate? day/month/year?10:45
dpmzsombi, it shows "day_number day_name" on the day picker10:46
dpmand I'd expect it to show "day_name day_number"10:46
zsombidpm: yes, becaus ethere's enough space for it. Read the doc :)10:46
zsombidpm: that's what I said: Qt returns dd/MM/yy so the day is in front, then comes the months and the year.10:47
zsombidpm: if you want a different format, try to specify a different locate10:47
zsombidpm perhaps some specific config to the locale would do the job...10:48
dpmzsombi, I get where dd/MM/yy comes from and how it's used, but I still don't understand where the ordering in the dd part comes front10:48
dpmsorry, *from10:48
zsombidpm: you mean the dd/MM ordering? Qt takes those from system defaults. We discussed this with mzanetti some time ago, that the default from Qt is messed up... he might know some upstream bug for that... if there's any10:50
dpmzsombi, no, I mean just dd10:50
zsombidpm: what's wrong with that?10:50
dpmzsombi, in my locale I should have "Saturday 26", but I'm shown "26 Saturday"10:51
zsombidpm: aaaah, now that's a bug! sorry, I didn't got it.10:52
dpmwell, translated that would be "dissabte 26" (expected) vs "26 dissabte" (actual)10:52
zsombidpm: DayModel.qml10:52
dpmah, ok10:52
* mzanetti doesn't know any upstream bug about this10:52
zsombi:(10:53
zsombidpm: line 78: return Qt.formatDate(thisDate, "dd ") + mainComponent.locale.dayName(thisDate.getDay(), Locale.LongFormat);10:53
mihirzsombi, any inputs ?10:53
zsombidpm: so there's a bug in both DayModel and MonthModel10:53
zsombimihir: I am pretty bad in multitasking, sorry :)10:53
dpmzsombi, ah, yeah, I see it. Will file a bug, thanks for helping getting to the bottom of that!10:54
zsombimihir: I'd suggest you to use PickerPanel instead of DatePicker in Dialog10:54
zsombidpm: I thank you for finding it :)10:54
zsombimihir: we should use PickerPanel for DatePickers whenever possible.10:55
mihirzsombi, okay...but time picking should be same or we should change it to datepicker ?10:55
zsombimihir not gone that far yet10:55
zsombimihir: you need those 15 min steps, right?10:56
mihirit has to be 30 mins..as per bug reported and google calendar10:57
mihirthis is custom timepicker10:57
mihirdeveloped when there was no picker available in our development kit10:57
zsombimihir: well, atm is inconsistent :)10:59
zsombimihir: and if you don't need those 30min steps, then you should not use DatePicker at all10:59
mihirwe need that.11:00
zsombimihir: but you could use a Picker and a model where you have 24h with 30 min steps11:00
mihirfor changing date we have to use DatePicker anyhow, we are in sceptical for time choosing,11:00
zsombimihir: and file a bug, so yuou can use PickerPanel with custom Picker component!11:01
mihirzsombi, okay got it, so you meant to say, use PickerPanel for choosing Dates & custom timePicker for changing time with gap of 30 mins11:01
mihirhave i got it correctly ?11:01
zsombimihir: yes. the timePicker should be a Picker!11:02

micah2QUESTION: I am going to be giving an introduction to Ubuntu App Development lesson at LinuxFest Northwest (A big linux conference in Bellingham, Washington, USA). What is the best way for me to promote this session to the existing Ubuntu community? A fair bit of the marketing is already done since it is at an established conference.18:29
micah2cool ideas, thanks, guys!18:32
dholbachrock on! :)18:33
dbarthmicah2: just mention jono, dholbach or dpm in a tweet18:33
dholbachthat might work as well ;-)18:33
dbarthmicah2: then the world will know about your event ;)18:33

micah2popey, for the presentation I'm going to do on Ubuntu app development, I was thinking of walking through the code of an app like Stallboard. Is the source for Stallboard available on Launchpad?18:38
dpmmicah2, and make sure that your event is in the app dev schools world map: http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/global/2677/18:38
dpmif you need any help, ping me or dholbach18:38
popeymicah2: no, but it's just a fork of https://launchpad.net/animal-farm18:38
micah2okay, good to know. Maybe I should make a Lunduke board.18:39
micah2BTW, popey, thank you for Stallboard. It is lots of fun surprising my wife with the sound of Stallman declaring "this is egregious" :)18:40
popeylol18:40
micah2dpm, I'll put the event on the map. I've looked around the LocoRunningAppDevSchool site, I'll consider if some of it will fit into my 50 minute window.18:41
dpmmicah2, cool!18:44
dpmmicah2, feel free to pick any content from the presentation materials, I'm sure you can reuse part of it for your 50 mins presentation18:45
micah2dpm, how do I add my event to the app dev schools world map? Do I have to be a member of a LoCo?18:47
dpmmicah2, yes, although if there is no one from a LoCo around, perhaps mhall119 as an admin of the LoCo site can help you add your event18:50
micah2I'll send him the details later and ask him to add it.18:50
dpmmicah2, excellent!18:51
micah2thanks for all the guidance, dpm18:51
dpmno worries, looking forward to seeing up there, it will not only give it visibility, it will also encourage other teams!18:52
