[01:18] Hello hello. [01:26] evening [01:26] are there signs of the midterm elections in michigan already? [01:26] no idea. We don't watch TV [01:27] not necessarily on tv:) [01:27] I've pretty much given up on the future of mankind as we know it. [01:27] michigan is interesting [01:27] :) [01:27] is somewhere between purple and blue [01:27] instead of red [01:28] and theres no incumbent, as democratic senator carl levin retires. [01:28] Well, we've had several high-ranking representatives retire [01:28] but the GOP is going to have an excellent candidate in Terri Lynn Land, former secretary of state. [01:29] she coems from an old guard of moderate Michigan Republicans, isntead of the tea party wing that might ahve preferred someone like Jusin Amash. [01:30] but yeah, likely democratic nominee Gary Peters, should win his primary without serious opposition. [01:30] and he's kept pace with Land in fundraising [01:30] the question is whether michigan's modest blue lean si enough to overcome a modestly republican-leaning climate. [03:20] neither of my parents have any savings. they live social security check to check. it ain't so bad cmaloney [03:20] jrwren: Well, I think we might have some options at some point [03:21] but I'm really pissed off that some dipshits play fast and loose with the economy and he gets his entire retirement blown to fuck-all [03:22] And the same assholes that tanked the economy are still fucking withi him [03:23] yup [03:23] did he lose the house? [03:23] pretty much, but they're dragging their heels on it [03:23] Sup guys? [03:23] because they don't want the house. [03:23] they didn't drag their heels reposessing my old man's house. [03:23] nicer neighborhood [03:24] probably [03:24] If you want to see what the financial fucking has done to a neghborhood, drive through Clinton Township [03:25] Used to be a nicer neighborhood until everyone foreclosed. [03:25] Now it's rubbish [03:25] Just a collection of broken homes and broken dreams. [03:25] Shit all of Detroit is in bankruptcy [03:26] Havenstance: Yeah [03:26] But we're talking 5 years from OK to shitter. [03:26] But I'd guess u all knew that. Sad really though [03:26] Yeah it only ever gets worse before better unfortunately [03:27] An the thing that really pisses me off is nobody, but nobody has had jail time for this [03:27] We closed Enron for less [03:27] Then its us working class who get the middle finger n get beat by the very people we elected and get forced to watch nothing be done about it [03:28] They say its dems or repubs depending on who you ask they have differing beliefs I say its both [03:29] Can't go after the rich, and the poor don't have any money, so who's left? :) [03:29] Sadly enough that's too true [03:30] So please tell me I'm not the only one with irc on my phone lol [03:31] Thing is there's no accountability. Term limits got rid of the dynasties but they also got rid of the accountability [03:31] Havenstance: Does SSH count? :) [03:31] Tried out this app called and chat pretty cool [03:31] I want to do an ssh VPN at home I can access at work :) [03:32] Cmaloney the accountability was gone years ago all the banks knew exactly what they were doing [03:35] Then you got Barack and Michelle blaming everyone else for the problems they have helped create and to think Clinton got impeached for getting a blow job and Nixon for water gate neither got anything on Benghazi [03:36] Outside of the NSA I think Barack has done a decent job [03:37] I don't know enough about Benghazi to speak intelligently about it [03:38] He has done some good but this whole Putin thing is stupid he has cut the military so much we couldn't fight Russia if we wanted to [03:38] And honestly after Bush Jr left office I think Jesus H. Christ would have had a hell of a time righting things. [03:38] Nobody wants a war. Russia knows we can't do shit [03:38] We're both posturing. [03:39] cmaloney: shelby twp is the same way. used to be very nice, now its not so much [03:39] Not entirely bush either tho remember the banks collapsed at that time too from greedy ceos not just the president but he may have been able to be more of a solution then a problen [03:40] Problem is we were weak in the Middle East "arab springs", so when Russia is playing AT&T and bringing back the USSR monopoly (talk about tortured metaphors) we have to do something [03:40] But this goes beyond Obama and bush I guarantee you they take orders from someone else anyway [03:40] gnight [03:40] Havenstance: I think the regulations that fell during Bush Jr. played a key role. [03:40] jrwren: g'night. :) [03:40] Night man see ya in the am [03:41] Oh I won't argue with that man but I don't think it was one or the other so much as idiots in congress voting in favor [03:43] And I honestly don't think anyone thought the implications would be this bad but those who caused this should be shot for treason [03:43] I prefer the term "restitution". :) [03:43] or Jubilee. :) [03:43] Because that's what nuking and entire city is. Detroit was once the greatest city in the USA now look at her man [03:44] Forgive the debts, or fine the banks to help pay for rebuilding [03:45] But hell man even country music called it years ago. [03:45] Megadeth called it. :) [03:45] That one dude wrote a song about them shutting Detroit down [03:45] Foreclosure of a Dream. [03:45] And that was before the Clinton Internet Bubble. [03:46] (and yes, It hink Clinton was the luckiest SOB for being president during the dot com boom) [03:47] Yup I was thinking of the shutting Detroit down but what killed Detroit was NAFTA never should it be cheaper to build a car in mexico and sell it here. [03:48] NAFTA wasn't Detroit's problem. Detroit made it expensive to build cars here. [03:48] Ask me anything made outside this country should be taxed so that its 3x more to sell it here if its not built here [03:48] The town I live in they packed up the automotive plant moved it to mexico put in a full service kitchen [03:49] I doubt that would do anything other than make Walmart pissy. [03:49] Anywho, I need to hit the hay. Laterness! [03:49] Now they got Mexicans working for three bucks an hour and three square a day [03:49] Later man [04:18] Havenstance: check out irccloud. so far the best irc client for phone [11:15] morning [11:40] Morn [11:46] morning [11:46] yes [11:49] good [11:50] agreed [12:15] good [12:32] zomg, that terrible python post I linked yesterday must have been an early april fools joke. [12:33] Why? [12:54] good morning campers [12:54] * rick_h_ would rather be camping [12:57] haha it usually seems preferable to work [12:57] it's the best place to work [13:16] Time to do something that resembles work I suppose === Havenstance2 is now known as Haven|Work [13:43] okay so now that I have a clear head on this mrgoodcat you might be able to answer this question for me. Can I install ubuntu13.10 then zentyal 3.4 on one drive add in 2 sata drives and configure softraid for those drives after im in the system? or should I do it from the installer menu? [13:44] the drive for the OS would be on an IDE Drive that's not part of the array [13:44] if the OS is not included in the raid it shouldn't matter [13:45] but i think best practices is to get the drives working the way you want before installing anything extra [13:45] and doing that from the installer is the best way to do that [13:45] but tbh i haven't dealt with it much. I just set up simple raid on install and go from there [13:46] alright, well now that its tuesday and I'm not ready to kill someone. I'll try to configure it and see what happens. [13:47] haha [13:51] i believe in you Haven|Work [13:52] i believe in me too, just friday sucked lol. [13:59] Heh, there's a new From Python Import Podcast [14:39] rick_h_: did google give you your GSoC students yet? [14:39] mrgoodcat: no, will be a bit. I think it's another 2wk or so for things to finish shaking out [15:05] It'll be after the death match and dancing. [15:07] Good morning. [15:08] hm, so apparently i broke the whole thing [15:08] left friday came in today to a system that won't boot [15:08] YIPPIE :D [15:10] good morning mihicigan [15:10] Haven|Work: D: [15:10] good morning peruz [15:10] mrgoodcat, yeah someone unplugged it and the CMOS battery is bad [15:10] o gfd [15:10] I looked at how players played in a given year under a given manager and compared to how we expected them to play based on their past and future performance; not just dugout decisions [15:10] BIOS Reset and now it won't boot from USB or any HDD [15:10] who would do that? [15:10] oops wrong channel [15:11] how are you guys? [15:11] nbu? [15:11] peruz, living the dream man [15:11] mrgoodcat, Custodian hit the cord, probably didn't think it was for anything [15:11] Its all tore apart looks like a pile of junk so he probably unplugged it thinking I forgot [15:11] id be so pissed [15:12] on a related note, get a new cmos battery [15:12] Gonna have to tell him later today when somethings plugged in in my office leave your filthy paws off it [15:12] mrgoodcat, yup already did lol [15:12] I knew the battery was bad but didn't think someone would be dumb enough to unplug something clearly labeled SERVER [15:13] now nothing has any intarwebz anywhere thanks to that stunt, Had to put routers in to take the place of the server for now until I got everything else working right [15:30] for consistency in python it feels like I should be able to for m in inspect.getmembers(a) if inspect.ismethod(m[1]): [15:30] err. [15:30] it feels like I should be able to for a in l if cond: [15:30] just like I can in an expression. [15:31] [for ain l if cond] works, but for a in l if cond: doesn't :( [15:32] the if needs to be forced into an iterable state. [15:32] can you lambda that? [15:33] hmm, anything else you do will be more overhead/longer than wrapping it in [] [15:36] I love this maintenance guy.... damn water head [15:37] mrgoodcat, he says "I unplugged that machine because there were 3 already plugged in and 4 is way to many to run in one room" [15:37] well you wouldn't want to waste power [15:38] yeah lol [15:39] oh well, I'm sitting up here working on getting it going now. One of the girls that works in the office just got in a wreck the head secretary's daughter.... [15:39] but seriously... that's really bad. our janitor doesn't even come in my office anymore. she's afraid to touch anything and incur my wrath [15:39] yeah I ripped him a new one [15:39] so i clean my own office [15:39] basically told him if that door is locked stay the hell out, don't care if you do have a key [15:39] which means i have a very messy office [15:40] I gotta dump the trash.... yeah I can get that, you stay out. [15:40] still can't get the damn thing to boot [15:42] Bingo [15:43] usb legacy support defaults to off, then it wont boot from USB Flash drive [18:44] Afternoon [18:45] not quite [18:45] howdy [18:45] party [18:45] almost [18:45] not quite quittin time yet [18:46] https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-7524 [19:42] This shit takes forever and a day... [19:43] built a 2tb RAID1 with mdadm almost half done building and it has been going all day lol [19:54] https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-7524 [19:55] this is why I like LVM [19:55] greg-g: I just linked that :) [19:55] DANGIT [19:55] * greg-g is slow [19:56] i'm pretty sure its a joke [19:57] yeah [19:57] no link to vote results [19:58] "I would like to point out that the new community dynamic for git-based projects is different in many salient ways from a traditional subversion project. Voting in private, or even decisions by fiat of the chair, are most welcome in the new regime. It is good to see the subversion project embrace this new mode of project development in their smart exodus from the chains of the past. " [20:01] lol [20:05] mental note: you don't want to try to use a @classmethod as a decorator. [20:05] something doesn't work right. I'm not sure what, but it just doesn't. [23:25] Yawn!!!!!! [23:38] Havenstance: how did it work out today? [23:39] idk, when i was done working it was still building the array :) [23:39] I did the array with Mdadm after the install [23:39] since I was putting the install on a separate drive anyway [23:40] Well let me know. I offer my admittedly limited experience if you need it
