asdasdI lost my graphics driver to it03:59

kubuntu_betaHello08:18
kubuntu_beta can the beta be installed within in windows?08:18
`Fibz``i know it works in virtualbox08:22
kubuntu_betaYes but I need it to run a virtualbox in08:23
kubuntu_betaActually.08:23
kubuntu_betaI may be able to get around it08:23
kubuntu_beta Let me see08:23
elfyI'm fairly sure there is no wubi anymore08:23
kubuntu_betaelfy: Why?08:25
`Fibz``just to be clear, i meant VirtualBox, a virtual machine product by Oracle08:27
kubuntu_beta_`Fibz``: Yeah Got you08:28
kubuntu_beta_elfy: Sorry if you gave me a response to the Why. My Internet just burped08:29
`Fibz``nope08:30
elfykubuntu_beta_: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2012-March/034970.html08:30
elfywas looking for it :)08:30
elfythere is other stuff on the mailing lists I'm sure08:31
kubuntu_beta_somehow I knew the response was going to involve Windows 808:31
`Fibz``i'd rather just run in VirtualBox anyway08:34
kubuntu_beta_If I could find a copy of Windows 8 that's where I'd like to run it as well :)08:36
elfy`Fibz``: yep - +1 to that08:36
elfynot sure why people thought wubi was some sort of permanent solution - was never meant to be that08:36
`Fibz``it should have had a 30 day trial limit or something08:36
elfyyea08:37
elfyused it once just to see08:37
`Fibz``but that would turn too many people off which is the opposite of what wubi was ment to do08:37
elfyyep08:37
elfyanyway - it's gone now afaik08:37

rigvedi'm using ubuntu 12.04 and upgrading to 14.04 currently10:59
rigvedin the "Updates" tab in software sources, if I select "For any new versions", the upgrade tool offers 12.10. Shouldn't it be offering Ubuntu 14.04 or will this only happen after 14.04 is released?11:00

rigvedbekks: yes. just click on the correct product from this list: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/308/builds , click on the testcase and fill in the form on the test result page (filling in the bug number in the Bugs field there)16:08
rigvedbekks: based on the bug report, the testcase would be something like "http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/308/builds/66042/testcases/1413/results" or "http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/308/builds/66044/testcases/1413/results", depending on whether you have tested on an amd64 or i386 machine16:11

shinkaI have no problem setting new keyboard shortcurts on Ubuntu GNOME but it just doesn't work on Ubuntu (Unity). I just added SUPER+T in the custom shortcuts to launch the terminal and when I press it: it opens the trash. Funny thing: I cannot even find the rule to launch the terminal on SUPER+T in the list of shortcuts. I'm on 14.04.16:15
trismvice__: what's the error? I just rebuilt the package fine17:18
vice__Hello! First: I know that I am using unstable sources. I have been trying to compile signon-ui_0.16+14.04.20140304.is.0.15+14.04.20140313.orig.tar.gz  when a ERROR occured. There's a qt5 project file missing. Maybe somebody forgot to include it? Here's the output: https://dpaste.de/nRzZ I haven't filled a bug report because I am on gentoo linux and maybe I am missing a dep.17:19
vice__trism, Did you get any useful information from the build output?17:22
trismvice__: looking where it is failing, it seems like the: test -e Makefile is failing, do you not get a makefile after running qmake?17:29
trismvice__: hmm actually the po/Makefile is in the tarball, so weird17:44
vice__trism, I added the following deps: dev-qt/qtquick1dev-qt/qtquickcontrolsdev-qt/qtwidgetsdev-qt/qttest17:46
trismvice__: did it help?17:47
vice__Now I am compiling them. Not finished yet17:47
trismvice__: I'm not sure it will because your compile is failing on the first command: cd po/ && (test -e Makefile || qmake po.pro), on trying to qmake po.pro which doesn't exist, since the Makefile is there17:48
trismvice__: I would try to build the package by hand to see if you can figure out what's going wrong before using the gentoo scripts17:49
vice__trism, How are you compiling it by hand?17:49
trismvice__: just extract the tarball, run: qmake; then make17:50
ElvanorWhere can I get a kernel 3.14 image for use with the Ubuntu boot image?17:54
bekksElvanor: There is none.17:58
bekks!mainline > Elvanor17:59
ubottuElvanor, please see my private message17:59
vice__trism, It worked that way. But it seems that its compiled with qt4?18:00
trismvice__: there is an environment variable you can pass to select the version when running qmake but I can't seem to remember it18:03
trismmines building with qt5 but I don't have any qt4 installed18:04
vice__I did that qmake with qt4. now i am trying with qt5..18:06
trismvice__: ahh it is QT_SELECT=qt5 at least on ubuntu18:07
vice__Builded well with qt5 too.18:13
vice__trism thank you very much18:42
vice__But i am not insane enough to install this package with make install :D18:43
trismvice__: that wasn't my intention, just to check if there was a more general problem, since it builds manually the issue must be with whatever build scripts you are using18:45
trismvice__: maybe something is cleaning the Makefiles out of the source before building18:45
trismvice__: I haven't used gentoo for 10 years so I couldn't really say what18:46

RouninIn Launchpad19:18
RouninBasically one gets a kernel panic when trying to install or update libc19:18
RouninWhich is inconvenient19:18
trismRounin: what bug number?19:20

ubottuLaunchpad bug 1269731 in upstart (Ubuntu) "duplicate for #1271440 init crashed with SIGSEGV" [Critical,Fix released]19:21
RouninIt seems like they may have fixed this related bug that they're set as duplicates of without fixing the whole bug19:22
trismRounin: you should probably file a new bug, the latest dup for that one is from january19:23

trismc_korn: try installing libudev1:i386 to see that error, it is installing fine here22:28
c_korntrism: this is the error now: libudev1:i386 : Depends: libcgmanager0:i386 but it is not going to be installed22:28
trismc_korn: you generally need to follow the chain until you get an actual reason22:29
trismha though you did just help me reproduce my bug on the 3.14 kernel22:30
c_korntrism: seems like libcgmanager0:i386 is the reason http://paste.ubuntu.com/7209902/22:30
majodi cant install any .deb with the software center...always ends with "package operation failed", with dpkg everything installs fine22:30
c_kornmajod: hum, just did a quick google search: maybe this helps http://askubuntu.com/questions/54851/package-operation-failed-when-installing-software22:32
majodwell there isnt actually any solution on the page...22:33
majodalso, in the "details" i see absolutely no errors22:33
trismc_korn: I'm guessing it is because it is removing libudev1:amd6422:55
trismc_korn: though I'm not sure why, did run apt-get update recently? maybe there is a strange conflict going on22:55
trismc_korn: you could always try adding -o Debug::pkgProblemResolver=yes to the apt-get line to see the detailed reasons for the selections but it can be alot to go through22:57
c_korntrism: just updated. same problem. maybe I just have to wait22:57
c_korntrism: ah, seems my german mirror was out of sync. took the main server and the problem is gone now. sorry for the noise.23:02
trismc_korn: np glad it is working now23:02
c_korntrism: and thanks of course. but at least it helped to reproduce your kernel bug23:02
vice__trism,  had to specify QT5_BUILD_DIR="${S}" QT5's build system has a bug where shadow building doesn't work, but the qt5-build.eclass from 'qt' overlay is a tangled web of shadow building (it actually casts two shadows) it was only recently picked up by the QT guys as everything would seem normal and build ok, but some include files it generates are corrupt23:14
trismvice__: right, I should have thought of that, broken out-of-tree build, bug pops right up when I try it23:22
