=== deffrag__ is now known as deffrag [19:56] hi [19:58] is there a way to dunno.. "request" a driver to build in to the new kernel? [20:02] rigo: you mean rebuild a driver that is not part of the kernel on kernel-upgrades? [20:03] no, i guess not. i mean if i install the latest kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ my new device is automatically recognised. so supported "out of box" [20:04] so it would be wonderful to have the tevii S662 usb dvb-s2 driver in the next kernel release. [20:05] if you want mainline kernel to support your device, you'll have to talk to the upstream kernel developers (and possibly also to the devices manufacturer(s)) [20:06] (maybe the Ubuntu kernel developers can help with that) [20:07] rigo: actually, the manufacturer working with the upstream kernel project would probably be best, if they want to... [20:10] it is a pain in the ... to install a driver.. :/ [20:12] in example the s471 card was not supported in the 3.4 but was in the 3.6. so i didnt had to wait a lot. maybe ill be lucky this time too [20:13] if the manufacturer, or somebody working with them, is working on those drivers, it might work soon
