TheblueladHi all13:01
svenneponkenHey! I'm in the process of dualbooting ubuntu and windows 7. During the installation of Ubuntu (have tried both 13.04, 13.10 and 14.04 Beta 2), I get a error message when choosing region which says: "??? ???". I have found a bug report of it (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/foundations-bugs/2012-May/087059.html) but I'm kind of new to this and can't find the status of it? Does anyone know if this is going to be fixed to 14.04 13:02
TheblueladWish I could help but I'm here looking for help too :P13:02
TheblueladBut for the record there is a 14.04 final release out now if you wanna try that13:03
OerHeksThebluelad, 'final release' wil be on the 17th, current is beta213:04

dioioibwell basically in the xorg config you need a device for each input device, and you can also setup more monitors if you want dual head. that is another pain all together. but I will post my full xorg conf so you can see what it looks like with a trackball and a wacom tablet.20:52

chaotixwhy does vga work fine but if i try to do the same thing using hdmi it wont fit the screen right?20:58
tankerkiller125chaotix: Try changing the display settings20:58
dioioibchaotix you will need to run hwinfo and find your PCI:#:#:# for the right port of the video card then create the devices in the xorg. But you need your drivers installed first and xinerama. you have to do it all from terminal as you will have no gui.20:59
dioioibtankerkiller125 yeah I would say try a reinstall of the xorg before you do though install lynx web browser in terminal just in case you get stuck you can still search the web from terminal.20:59

[[a]ok, I have a file of 1GB, no extension (by typing on terminal : file : myfile => octet/stream). 1) tried to extract it but failed, 2) cat myfile => got unusual characters, 3) tried to join the file => join myfile => got the same file. MY problem is >> I couldn't even know what type is this file (of course I googled about that) , and I thought maybe it is encrypted, so I came to ask if anyone could possible know how to check if a file has been encrypted or not21:33

ikoniaScriptonaut: you should be using apt-get/software center to pull in packages+dependencies21:50

ScriptonautI apt-get install smlnj21:50

tankerkiller125dioioib: I'll install using the stylus and see if the reinstall resets the xorg server21:50

ikoniaScriptonaut: ok, so either a.) the package name is wrong b.) you have the wrong repo21:50

thoonaiikonia: now only owncloud itself is not working xD21:53

joseph07Scriptonaut: this might be a dumb question but I'm assuming you ran dpkg as root?21:55
ikoniayou're missing the point21:55
ikoniayou shouldn't be using dpkg because that package is not meant for your distro21:56
Scriptonautyes21:56
ikoniaso stop doing that - remove any reference to it21:56
Scriptonautok how do I remove it21:56

Smackbooki don't know what for certain it means, but something is messed up and google doesn't have much info and if you don't know how to do lots of troubleshooting yourself, youd be safer to just back everything up and do a clean reinstall to be sure you don't end up losing data down the line to some weird thing no one can find info about23:16
Smackbookeither way, actually, have a backup as a general rule23:16
