Noskcaj_starrats, In response to your email, welcome to the team00:50
starratsThank you Noskcaj00:50
Noskcaj_Is there anything in particular you'd like to help with?00:51
starratsI do not know but I want to help, just really new to this whole thing, you folks have helped me and I want to reciprocate 00:52
Noskcaj_awesome00:53
starratslike being on this channel and if someone comes and ask a question and I k now tghe answer then I'll start there, testing the newer version will come down the road, still learning00:53
Noskcaj_:)00:53
Noskcaj_Do you know any programming languages or a language that isn't english? 00:53
starratsI live in the USA and in OH so sometimes there be folks on that others will be off sleeping00:54
starratsneither, sorry00:54
starratsI wish I did, I'm prbably a lot older than most folks/nicks here so I never got involved with computers until late in my life00:55
Noskcaj_ok. And age shouldn't be an issue. What do you want to help with? support, docs, bug triage, packaging, testing, etc. There's always someone around willing to teach you00:56
bluesabreknome, Noskcaj, micahg: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/light-locker-settings/+bug/130248400:59
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1302484 in light-locker-settings (Ubuntu) "[needs-packaging] Please upload light-locker-settings 1.2.1" [Undecided,Confirmed]00:59
starratsokay thank you and if there books or online documents to help me I would appreciate that too, love to read and test stuff, 01:00
Noskcaj_bluesabre, Are there any lintian issues left?01:01
Noskcaj_And in the future, try to tell bzr what bugs each commit fixes. (I manually linked the bugs just then)01:02
Noskcaj_starrats, There are some, i'll see what i can find01:02
bluesabreok, will do01:02
bluesabreI think its lintian clean01:02
bluesabreor at least minor01:03
starratsthanks Noskcaj01:03
bluesabrestarrats, is there anything you're particularly interested in? :)01:03
Noskcaj_starrats, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Roles has most of the testing and bug triage related info. 01:03
Noskcaj_bluesabre, That's been asked twice already. :)01:03
bluesabreI started by reporting bugs, then ochosi pulled me into IRC01:03
bluesabresince I kept harrassing him about appearance issues :)01:04
Unit193Oh, good for him.  Now I get to harass you!01:04
bluesabreoh yay01:05
Noskcaj_starrats, and http://xubuntu.org/contribute/support_documentation/ is our info for making documentation01:05
bluesabre:D01:05
bluesabrebtw Noskcaj_, thanks for helping with so much this cycle01:06
bluesabreit's been smooth-going, and I think you deserve a fair bit of credit for that :)01:06
Noskcaj_bluesabre, no problem. It was the only way i could help, with the lack of a function VM to test in01:06
starratsNoskcaj_ bookmarked both sites you sent me, was reading on the 'tester' stuff and that sounds interesting to me.01:07
Noskcaj_great01:07
starratsgood night everyone, I was up at 4AM this morning.01:24
bluesabrehey Noskcaj_, are you terribly busy?01:35
bluesabreI started writing this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mugshot/+bug/130290601:36
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1302906 in mugshot (Ubuntu) "[needs-packaging] Please upload mugshot 0.2.3" [Undecided,New]01:36
bluesabrethen I remembered that you are the uploader for debian and ubuntu :)01:36
Noskcaj_:)01:37
Noskcaj_I just finished lunch, so i'll look now01:37
bluesabreawesome01:37
bluesabreshould be a simple package update, nothing funny with new files or anything01:37
bluesabrehttps://launchpad.net/mugshot/0.2/0.2.301:37
Noskcaj_Might be a day or two since i'd liek to go via debian01:38
bluesabreright01:38
bluesabreno rush01:38
bluesabreI'm just working on getting releases out as possible01:38
bluesabrehoping that I might get a chance to do a release announcement or two this weekend (I'm way behind on my blog)01:39
Noskcaj_also, the tag upgrade-software-version is good to add to those bugs01:39
bluesabreah01:40
Noskcaj_bluesabre, done. I'm waiting for a sponsor in debian (should only be a day or two)01:50
bluesabreyup, saw that01:51
bluesabrethanks for quick action :)01:51
Noskcaj_eric_the_idiot, Do you think you'll be making another xfdesktop release before the 10th?02:35
brainwashali1234: any idea why indicator-application isn't loading automatically?09:42
elfymmm 09:44
elfyso now xfdesktop --reload doesn't get the wallpaper back09:44
brainwashelfy: just wait for the next update09:48
elfylol09:48
elfyso why is --reload not working though :p09:48
brainwashmmh, dunno09:49
brainwashtoggle the compositor09:49
brainwashthis should also restore the wallpaper09:49
elfytoo late :)09:49
brainwashwhere is micahg?10:05
brainwashnow is the time to do stuff and the active people don't have merge/upload rights :/10:07
* elfy remembers the same refrain last cycle, the one before, the one before, the one before10:09
brainwashthis time it's LTS time again10:11
brainwashpeople actually expect to get a polished OS :)10:11
elfyeven so - we don't have a huge list of people to do this stuff - so it's rather pointless going round in circles :)10:12
brainwashdidn't we want to change this?10:12
elfybrainwash: so are you working towards it?10:12
elfyyea - time is the issue I guess 10:12
brainwashuhm, even noskcaj got only restricted upload rights10:13
brainwashI would get like nothing at this point10:13
elfynor for me to talk about it - there's more chance of finding hen's teeth than me doing it10:13
elfys/not10:13
brainwashsadly we got some ugly issues out of nowhere10:14
elfyI guess the thing we need to do is get the fixes in a row so when micah is about he can get stuff done10:15
elfyyea - we did 10:15
brainwashwhat about mr_pouit?10:15
elfyhe's too busy elsewhere afaik10:16
ochosibrainwash_: the indicator plugin works fine for me10:43
ochosii didn't change anything in the config, so the indicator-application is still started by the desktop file10:44
ochosiit's a mixed mode, but i think that10:44
ochosi's the same in ubuntu, no?10:44
brainwash_not sure10:44
brainwash_ofc it would start if you didn't uncheck the autostart launcher10:45
ochosiyeah10:45
ochosibut why would i?10:45
ochosiafaik tedg's upstart changes haven't landed for all indicators yet10:45
brainwash_because we are testing the patch10:45
ochosiso i don't think what you wanted to do can work just yet10:45
brainwash_maybe10:45
brainwash_did you check the running processes after logout?10:45
brainwash_did everything terminate?10:46
ochosiisn't that hard to say since we start the indicators anew with the same method in the greeter?10:46
brainwash_yes, but that's a different user (lightdm)10:46
ochosiright, so have you checked that?10:47
brainwash_I did and noticed that indicator-bluetooth is still running, also the initial upstart process10:47
ochosii mean you asking me seems to infer that you checked and that it doesn't work10:47
brainwash_but my setup is.. different10:48
ochosiwell mine also isn10:48
ochosit a clean install anymore10:48
brainwash_well, please check the process list then10:49
lderan_mobileochosi, shall have a look at those links this afternoon :P11:02
ochosii think it might turn out to be a lot of work, but otoh really rewarding11:03
lderan_mobileaye :)11:03
bluesabreknome, micahg: https://code.launchpad.net/~smd-seandavis/ubuntu/trusty/xfce4-power-manager/sync_lock_xfpm_session/+merge/21439214:34
bluesabregotta run, bbl14:35
ochosihey sergio-br2 15:41
sergio-br2hey ochosi, fine?15:41
ochosihaven't had time to review your merge-requests, will do that tomorrow15:41
ochosiyeah, fine :)15:41
ochosivery busy though15:41
sergio-br2ok, no problem15:42
ochosihaven't had too much time and energy to draw many icons lately15:42
ochosicreated a draft for new libreoffice-icons though15:42
ochosibut haven't had a chance yet to do more than 2 sizes15:42
sergio-br2libreoffice?15:43
ochosiyeah. libreoffice/openoffice mime-types15:43
ochosiand possibly the apps too15:43
sergio-br2it will be different than ooo-office?15:43
ochosino15:43
sergio-br2ahh, mime types15:43
ochosibut currently libre/openoffice = abiword15:43
ochosithat's not ideal ^15:43
ochosiand the same icon is used for rtf, odt, etc15:44
sergio-br2you will change all the icons? or just for writer?15:45
ochosiright now i've done the proposed style for writer and calc15:45
sergio-br2the main icon for libreoffice, that blank, is missing. And for Math too15:46
ochosisome of the other's aren't that important15:46
ochosiyeah, we should do that one too as soon as we've found a good style for the app-icon15:46
ochosisent you the proposal for mimes in PM15:46
sergio-br2it seems great!15:47
ochosity15:47
ochosiwas actually working on this on the side for quite a while15:47
ochositook some time to find something that works15:47
eric_the_idiotNoskcaj, yes, just letting some of the translations land before another release17:04
starratsWhen did the 'whisker menu' get moved to the right upper corner?17:07
brainwash_eric_the_idiot: I've discovered yet another bug in xfdesktop =S17:21
eric_the_idiotI saw the bug report, looking into it now17:22
brainwash_really strange one, sadly I did not provide any debugging info17:23
brainwash_starrats: we did not change the config17:25
brainwash_panel configuration I mean17:25
brainwash_ochosi: should I edit the defaults.list (x-d-s) and let abiword open .docx by default?17:27
brainwash_we got a bug report for this17:27
brainwash_but abiword is pretty bad at displaying .docx, so I'm not sure17:27
brainwash_Noskcaj: I've extended my menu-icon-tweak patch for thunar and attached it to the bug report, it's really low priority stuff, so only update your branch if you are really in the mood to change it one more time :)18:17
bluesabrebrainwash: is it still set to file-roller?18:27
brainwash_I think so18:34
brainwash_abiword does not appear in the open with sub menu18:34
brainwash_I've got libreoffice installed, so it's set as default18:35
brainwash_bug 114188518:36
ubottubug 1141885 in abiword (Ubuntu) "Xubuntu does not associate .docx with abiword" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/114188518:36
brainwash_I would prefer it being fixed in abiword (upstream)18:37
brainwashbluesabre: what do you think? there will be another x-d-s upload before release, should we assign abiword to .docx files?18:46
bluesabrebrainwash: makes sense to me19:13
jhenkesorry, what does x-d-s mean?19:47
Noskcajbrainwash, i'll update the branch now19:51
brainwashbluesabre: ok19:57
brainwashjhenke: xubuntu-default-settings19:57
brainwashNoskcaj: thanks19:57
brainwashuhm, does anyone use xfwm4's ability to tile windows (aero snap)?19:59
brainwashit does not seem to restore the correct window size after untiling19:59
brainwashali1234: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=876520:00
ubottubugzilla.xfce.org bug 8765 in General "Tiling does not preserve the original window size" [Normal,New]20:00
brainwashhow is something like this not fixed yet? :D20:01
Noskcajbrainwash, I've never got it too tile properly and am too lazy to fix the settings if that counts20:02
brainwashI wish that I would find less bugs before final release20:05
starratsbrainwash_ my whisker, lol!'s menu is in th upper right hand corner, so if you did not change it how did it get there then20:07
brainwashmaybe you've re-added it to the panel20:08
brainwashso it's now the right most panel item20:09
starratsI could have but it went missing when i restarted my comp after a bunch of upgrades, I had to reinstall 14.04 because i was totally lockedout of everything at the password screen20:09
starratsyes it's the extreme right side next to the workspaces20:10
brainwashI've created a new user account some minutes ago and whisker menu is placed in the left top corner20:10
Noskcajstarrats, When you manually add stuff, it appears in the top right. Just go to the panel settings and move it back20:11
starratsah okay I'll try that Noskcaj20:11
brainwashand please make sure that you verify your findings next time with a new user account or by reverting back to the default configuration20:13
starratsI moved whiskers back to the left side.  brainwash what do you mean?20:14
brainwashI mean that you should test the default configuration and see if there really is something buggy20:17
brainwashotherwise it's very likely that your current configuration might be the cause20:18
starratsah ok20:19
jhenkebrainwash thanks20:20
jhenkegood night20:44
olbihi guys, when will be update of lang files for thunar 1.6.3? :)22:11
Noskcajolbi, The best method would be to ask upstream for a new release, which would contain a lot of updates. I think we translate it too, not 100% sure22:13
Noskcajolbi, We don't translate it, but a new upstream release would add all the translations listed at http://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/log/22:14
olbithx22:16
