[15:17] There isn't a /etc/default/puppet in Ubuntu 14.04's package anymore, in contrast to 12.04. Creating the file and putting "start=no" in it does not have an effect since even though the init script sources the file, it doesn't have a condition on the start variable anymore. [15:18] Should I report this ? [15:29] dmsimard: hi, looks like that change was done on purpose by the debian maintainer of puppet [15:30] tarpman: I was trying to find the source/changelog of the actual change but could not find it, can you point me in the right direction ? [15:30] dmsimard: looks like the service will be started automatically, but won't actually do anything unless you run 'puppet agent --enable' [15:30] dmsimard: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-puppet/puppet.git;a=commitdiff;h=911303eee71f64299714de9a92326e2ed098984d [15:30] tarpman: I find it odd that the file is still sourced by now unused [15:31] dmsimard: it can still be used to override the other variables, I think DAEMON_OPTS would be the main use case === bschaefer_ is now known as bschaefer [16:07] tarpman: Thanks for your help :) [16:09] dmsimard: hope it helped. cheers [16:10] *nod*, made a quick article about it :) [16:10] http://dmsimard.com/2014/04/17/puppet-started-by-default-in-ubuntu-1404/ === roadmr is now known as roadmr_afk === roadmr_afk is now known as roadmr === roadmr is now known as roadmr_afk === roadmr_afk is now known as roadmr === bschaefer_ is now known as bschaefer
