[05:46] Download link is down on mythbuntu.org FYI. [06:51] Goodnight. [18:28] hello, I'm wondering if I can install any Ubuntu application on Mythbuntu, e.g. Dropbox. I'd sorta be using it as a NAS, additionally to the mediaplayer. In short, I'd like to know if Mythbuntu could be the answer to this question: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-distributions-5/best-distro-for-a-home-nas-media-player-4175501702/ [18:37] bennypr0fane: sure you can install anything ubuntu on mythbuntu [18:37] superm1: ok, that's great. do you think I can use it the way I describe in that froum thread? [18:54] sure that sounds like it can work well enough [18:54] mythfrontend can't really be controlled from an android app well though [18:54] maybe if you install xbmc [18:54] superm1: that is not correct [18:55] Kwisher_wrk: headless control of mythfrontend from an android app? [18:55] there is a free mythtv app that works quite well [18:55] i thought that's what he was looking for [18:55] how can a frontend be headless? [18:56] it's a NAS with audio out, i guess i didn't think it should also have video out [18:57] but yes if there's video out, then https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tkj.android.homecontrol.mythmote is your way to go [18:58] still don't understand why you'd put a frontend on a headless box ?? [20:41] Hej, thanks for yr answers. I wasn't looking bcs nobody tagged me, so I thought, you hadn't replied - sorry! The thing is , media-wise I practically want to use iot only for music, meaning I need no video, just the mobile app to control the music player. Basically just any Linux distro could in theory be set up with the tools I want, but wehther or not I have the nerve to go through all that is an entirely different question. I really need [20:41] this to be as effortless as possible [20:42] that's why I'm looking for a distro that has all the basic server stuff already in place OOTB [20:43] anyway if there are other things that work well too, all the better! :-)
