tgm4883I've got 13.10 and bluetooth headphones with a microphone (Soundbot SB270) and when I connect it and select the A2DP profile, I can't use the microphone01:28
tgm4883When I select HSP/HFP, I can select the microphone, but the headphones then are only mono01:29
tgm4883what gives?01:29
tgm4883is there a conf file somewhere I need to fix this?01:29
=== Unibob is now known as DJ_Unibob
nesciustgm4883: thats exactly how both A2DP and HSP/HFP are specified, nothing to do about it except designing your own protocol, i'm afraid..02:19
tgm4883nescius: I was just reading up on that, it seems there is a specification that it should use both profiles at once02:20
tgm4883https://developer.bluetooth.org/TechnologyOverview/Pages/Multi-Profile.aspx02:20
nesciusinteresting, but wouldn't it require 'two devices'02:21
tgm4883granted I was just googling and found that, so IDK if it's a spec I need to look for on the device or if it's just in bluetooth X.X02:21
tgm4883nescius: doesn't sound like it, multiple profiles, single device02:21
tgm4883I think it's basically switching between the profiles really fast02:22
nesciustgm4883: i would not expect much as the paper is from 2013..02:23
nesciussounds cool though02:24
tgm4883bummer :/02:24
tgm4883well I just ordered a USB gaming headset off amazon, so I guess I'll wait for that02:24

An_Ony_Moosewhat's the default way to upgrade to 14.04? Should I just use do-release-upgrade or is there a fancy GUI hiding somewhere?08:11
lordievaderAn_Ony_Moose: I believe there is some gui through Muon, but I have never used it.08:13
An_Ony_Mooselordievader: so just do-release-upgrade?08:19
lordievaderAn_Ony_Moose: That's what I use. What version are you on now?08:20

stokp2short question: I just downloaded the kubuntu 14.04 lts 64 bit version, when I try to boot from DVD or USB the "kubuntu"-screen appears, and then everything just stalls? anybody having similar troubles?11:49
lordievader!patience | stokp211:49
ubottustokp2: Don't feel ignored and repeat your question quickly; if nobody knows your answer, nobody will answer you. You can search https://help.ubuntu.com/ http://www.ubuntuforums.org/ or http://www.kubuntuforums.net/ while you wait.11:49
BluesKajstokp2, I had a similar experience with kubuntu 12.04, so I used the text installer which is similar to the minimal version.11:51
BluesKaj!minimal |  stokp211:51
ubottustokp2: The Minimal CD image is very small in size, and it downloads most packages from the Internet during installation, allowing you to select only those you want.  The installer is text based (rather than graphical as used on the Desktop DVD). See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD11:51
stokp2I don't even get to the scree where I can select either11:51
stokp2this sux11:52
stokp2I did check the md5sum, it was intact11:52
BluesKajit's probly a HW recognition problem11:53
stokp2but kubuntu 12.04 worked flawlessly11:53
BluesKajdifferent HW11:53
stokp2hmmm... I just booted into 12.04 again and now I see my desktop images have been f'cked with11:54
stokp2that is not supposed to happen when using a live disk11:54
BluesKajfiled a bug m but it was never solved afaik11:54
BluesKajstokp2, all I can suggest is try the minimal and install the kubuntu-desktop11:57
stokp2hmmmmm now I remember, last time I also had to use the text version.... I#ll try that one11:59
hateballstokp2: does it halt at the grub menu, or when it starts booting the OS?11:59
hateballthat is, can you press a key to change language etc?12:00
stokp2no12:00
stokp2the graphic "kubuntu" screen appears, and then nothing, but on a old box I have I get to a installation process window, but it is empty....12:01
stokp2where can I find a text install?12:01
stokp2doesn't seem to be there.... there used to be an "alternate!" install12:02
stokp2well... on the other box the install stalled too12:03
yossarianuk can anyone recommend any good stress testing apps for webservers  - preferably one that produces graphs?12:03
BluesKajit's called minimal stokp2 , already posted the link above12:04
yossarianuktried to look at jenkins/gatling but that seems insanely complicated ?12:04
stokp2and now it even fucked up grub on my other box, can't boot anymore... man! this sux12:04
lordievaderstokp2: Please watch your language.12:04
BluesKajstokp2, read wht we're postinfg12:05
stokp2ok12:05
stokp2but the minimal install is not a real alternative.. I don't want to select hundreds of packages...12:06
lordievaderstokp2: You don't, we got the kubuntu-desktop meta package.12:07
stokp2ah, so I should select the kubuntu desktop meta package which includes everything in the normal isntall?12:07
G__81i am using kubuntu 14.04.I did an upgrade from 13.10 and the issue i see is with respect to the touchpad. The synaptik driver was better but now for some reason even if i select disable touchpad while typing, i see it getting  in between and i find it hard to type code etc. Is there something i am missing ? something like some service to be started etc?12:08
lordievaderstokp2: Exactly.12:08

G__81BluesKaj: yes i clicked on the option disable touchpad while typing but it does not seem to help12:14
G__81BluesKaj: i didnt face this problem with 13.10 and other distros. Infact Fedora 20 works just truly awesome12:14
hateballI have the same issue, havent bothered tracking it down tho12:16
hateballno pun intended12:16
G__81hateball: you mean the issue that i have ?12:16
hateballG__81: Yes12:17
BluesKajhad the same issue, but rebooting made it stick12:18
G__81its so annoying when you want to write some code and you see it just getting disturbed12:18
BluesKajit's annoying when writing anything12:19
G__81:) true12:19
BluesKajG__81, that's why I use a mouse, the trackpad has always annoyed me12:20
BluesKajerr touchpad or whatever it's called12:21
hateballassuming touchpad gets disabled if you plug in a mouse, otherwise it wont help accidental moving when typing much12:22
BluesKajhateball, exactly, one has to set that in the input devices tho12:23

mariusKHi. I have an 8GB USB stick nd I'd like to have a 'real' kubuntu install on it. I want to be able to boot from it, install and update software and use it like a regular system. Also I'd like to have regular user accounts on this system. The 'startup disk creator' and UInetbootin seem to only want to install a 'live' installer CD that prompts if you want to install or 'try' kubuntu to the PC and do not seem to be persistent (at least not12:44
mariusK for software installs). What is a better way of doing this?12:44
lordievadermariusK: I'd say debootstrap.12:46
BluesKajhmm, 8G isn't a lot of room for a whole install12:47
mariusKlordievader: will that work (seeing that all USB installers out there seem to depend on fat32, i'm assuming that a USB cannot boot a non-fat32 system)12:47
