mvomlankhor1t: hi, I'm working on https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/core-1403-hwe-stack-eol-notifications currently and I was wondering if some users will have xserver-xorg-lts-{quantal,raring,saucy} installed on precise without running one of the backported kernels. I assume there will be users like this, but I wanted to double check to make sure09:16
alkisgThe opposite might be more frequent, running a newer kernel that fixes some issues, and the precise xorg because the newer ones have dropped XAA along with a few drivers...09:32
alkisgBut I had to do what you said in at least one school, yup...09:33
mvoalkisg: great, thank you - that is the information I was looking for09:36

LaneyLooks like the gvfs autopkgtest failure is real11:04
LaneyI can reproduce it under trusty (where it passed) by upgrading libgphoto211:04
pittiLaney: yes, it is; that and umockdev now fail due to new libgphoto211:05
Laneyaha11:05
Laneyhave you been poking?11:05
pittiLaney: I need to refresh the recorded libgphoto conversation with a camera, as apparently the lib changed the wire protocol11:05
pittiLaney: not yet, still working on fixing the "tar: unexpected EOF" occasional autopkgtest failure11:05
* Laney nods11:05
LaneyI don't understand the dbus-test-runner failure either11:06
pittilooks like a missing intltool test dep or so?11:06
Laneythe previous line shows it finding intltool11:07
pittiLaney: I suspect that's just the cached result from the built tree11:07
Laneyis that something that would make it not reproduce locally?11:07
pittiyou should be able to reproduce with teh LXC or QEMU runner11:08
LaneyI use prepare-testbed / run-adt-test11:08
pittiah11:08
pittino, that won't reproduce it as it doesn't clean the testbed between build and test run11:08
Laneyaha11:08
Laneyokay, I've got to go out for some errands but I'll poke that late11:09
Laneyr11:09
pittiI need to get http://packaging.ubuntu.com/html/auto-pkg-test.html updated11:09

didrocksmvo: hey, just a little head's up. So since the first full backup succeeded, all incremental ones are succeeding as well :)13:18
didrocksargh13:19
didrocksmterry: ^13:19
didrockssorry mvo, but hey still! :)13:19
mterrydidrocks, you had reproduced a deja-dup bug?13:19
mvodidrocks: heh13:19
mvodidrocks: and hello!13:19
didrocksmterry: well, you told me you didn't have the time to look at the first issues (which seems more than legit), so I removed all invalid backups in the end13:20
mterryAh OK13:20
didrocksmterry: just wanted to ping you when things are working as well :)13:20
mterrydidrocks, heh, thanks!  :)13:21
Laneybah I need to de-windows this computer to reclaim some space13:49
Trevinhoseb128: hey... About https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1315369 it has all the synonyms of not being an unity issue. Maybe gnome power or lower level?14:07
ubot2Launchpad bug 1315369 in unity (Ubuntu) "Log in not available after lock screen with multi-monitor" [Undecided,Incomplete]14:07
Trevinhoseb128: I've debugged it with ChrisTownsend (who experiences it) and unity is not anymore in screensaver mode, thus it has informed gnome-power to keep the monitors on. Also the power-on of the displays is something that other components do..14:08
mterrymlankhor1t, poke about the xdiagnose fix yesterday14:13

Laneymterry: thanks for being a god of main inclusion requests ;-)14:28
mterryLaney, well that was an easy one, I don't mind picking those kinds up  :)14:28
seb128Trevinho, it looks like compiz or X is just hanging/frozen?14:29
Trevinhoseb128: no, it's not hanging... It's responsive14:30
Trevinhoseb128: it seems that the display just doesn't turn on14:30
Trevinhoseb128: in fact ChrisTownsend was able to login, but still the screen stays blank14:30
seb128Trevinho, I don't understand the part about seeing the ubuntu logo then14:31
ChrisTownsendseb128: The cursor is over the external monitor which is blank, so the laptop screen just has the ubuntu logo.14:31
seb128she says she can't move the cursor to the other screen14:32
ChrisTownsendseb128: But the password prompt still accepts the password.  It's just the monitor is in standby.14:32
seb128which to me feels like the wm is hanging14:32
seb128weird14:32
seb128ChrisTownsend, what videocard/driver?14:32
ChrisTownsendseb128: I just entered the password without moving the mouse.14:33
ChrisTownsendseb128: I'm using Intel14:33
ChrisTownsendAnd my external monitor is connected via a Display Port to VGA adapter.14:33
seb128weird14:34
TrevinhoChrisTownsend: yeah, Jane replied that she can't do it... weird14:34
seb128is the screen resuming once into the session?14:34
Trevinhonot to ChrisTownsend14:34
seb128can you try to get a command line and play with xgamma?14:34
Trevinhoneither simulating user activity (i.e. calling X screensaver off)14:34
seb128we had issues in the past where the gamma was to 014:35
=== alan_g|tea is now known as alan_g
ChrisTownsendseb128: Trevinho: Hmm, maybe her issue is different even though the symptoms are very similar.14:35
seb128ChrisTownsend, Trevinho: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/55587014:35
ubot2Launchpad bug 555870 in xorg (Ubuntu) "Gamma values are not being set properly after a second fade out resulting in a black screen" [High,Incomplete]14:35
ChrisTownsendWell, now my monitor keeps turning on.14:36
didrocksmterry: it's not because I thank you that you can break deja-dup now! :)14:36
mterrydidrocks, ah come on, it's the start of a cycle, we need a little breakage to keep it interesting14:37
didrocks:p14:37
* didrocks will stay on precise then!14:37
didrocksjust because of mterry14:37
didrocksall him alone!14:37
mterry:)14:40
Trevinhoseb128: well, I didn't check the fade code in gs, but from what I read it seems that it simulates the fading using the gamma value of X? as we don't do that, so it would be weird14:40
seb128Trevinho, ok, so I've no clue what your issue could be, out of a driver/xorg bug14:41
seb128Trevinho, but Jane's issue seems different since she can't type her password not move the pointer to the other screen14:41
Trevinhoseb128: Jane's problem seems different, yeah...14:41
seb128Trevinho, that description sounds like compiz is hanging14:41
TrevinhoChrisTownsend: do you have the same problem when unplugging the external monitor?14:42
ChrisTownsendTrevinho: I'll try it, but now it seems the monitor wakes up every time I try.14:43
TrevinhoChrisTownsend: we've fixed it then :D :D14:43
ChrisTownsendTrevinho: lol14:43
ChrisTownsendTrevinho: Ok ,now it's broken again.  I'll try disconnecting the external monitor.14:44
Trevinhoseb128: also I pushed to trunk the changes we landed as security fixes, should I add also a changelog entry for them?14:44
TrevinhoChrisTownsend: good luck14:44
seb128Trevinho, yes, please apply the debdiff of the upload14:44
ChrisTownsendTrevinho: No, login prompt is now displayed in the laptop monitor.14:44
seb128Trevinho, well, commit the changelog diff from the uploads rather14:44
Trevinhoseb128: ok14:44
seb128thanks14:45
seb128Laney, tedg: you should probably commit that dbus-test-runner branch manually, no point to go through the train for things already in the archvie15:44
