sakangis this for utopic lxqt discussion too?01:45
KamilionGetting some really weird behavior out of chromium -- I can type in other applications fine, but suddenly chromium only sees "s" and "k" for a few characters then stops accepting keyboard input entirely. Anybody know any open bugs that sound similar to this?06:23
Kamilionlubuntu 14.04 64bit on VMWare workstation 10.0.2. Other applications are unaffected (lxterminal, firefox, pycharm)06:25
* Kamilion pokes around on an older VM... Huh... Wonder if it's ibus related06:28
Unit193It's always ibus.06:29
KamilionI don't recall the keyboard icon in the tray before, but I have no idea if ibus was running in older releases without a trayicon06:31
Unit193ibus is more of a problem in Trusty than in Saucy.06:31
Kamilionalright, I speak us english and have no requirements of international input of any kind. What's a sane way to politely tell ibus to sit in the corner silently?06:33
Kamilionand in context: I use ubuntu-builder and lubuntu as my source ISO; so preferably something I can repeat for my child ISOs.06:33
Unit193All I did with it is purge it, you can likely use the Startup tool to disable it.06:34
Kamilionnothing will complain if I remove the packages entirely?06:34
Kamilionother than something like lubuntu-desktop being removed, which I can live with06:34
Unit193Not that I remember, or at least not anything I wanted to keep.06:35
KamilionGreat.06:35
KamilionThanks.06:35
Unit193Sure.06:36
Unit193I have no idea if it'll actually fix chromium, I don't use it, but it's been known to cause other problems.06:36
Kamilioncan't hurt to try in my dev VM06:36
Kamilionand most likely it will; simply removing the input bus and forcing it to fall back on evdev keys removes a whole huge chunk of runtime code. I do not foresee my ISOs being used by anyone with multibyte requirements ever.06:39
Kamilionand if that time ever came; I'd be more than happy to provide a slightly more customized east-asian centric build06:39
Kamilionalso, has the bug causing nm-applet not to appear been fixed yet?06:46
* Kamilion goes to look up that LP#06:46
ScepticHello. I'm not able to login to Lubuntu with "LXQT Desktop" - it simply moves me back to log-in screen.08:18
holsteinSceptic: in those cases, i'll try another user, to make sure my user config is not preventing the login14:13
Scepticholstein, I tried for Guest - the same effect.14:18
ScepticHello. Is there a list of apps that will give best perfomance with LXQT?14:58
ianorlinlaptopnot sure which run exactly best I am using qupzilla as a browser and like it15:04
ianorlinlaptopthere was a list on the razorqt site of pure qt applicatoins if you are worried about it pulling in gtk+ things15:06
okabiHello #lubuntu15:07
ianorlinlaptophttps://github.com/Razor-qt/razor-qt/wiki/3rd-party-applications is the link for qt things but those won't be in lubuntu by default until 14.1015:08
okabiMy windows 7 install stopped working properly after I did a hibernate once with Lubuntu 12.10. Any idea as to how Lubuntu may have caused this?15:10
ScepticOK. Damn, I'm not able to connect to this channel by Quassel.15:10
sceptOK15:12
scept115:12
scept215:12
sceptSomeone here uses QT Web Browser?15:12
ianorlinlaptopI use qupzilla and have it installed in my lxqt vm15:14
sceptDo You think that Qt will beat GTK?15:18
comics_ideesis QT Web browser a good browser?15:21
comics_ideesbetter than chrome?15:21
comics_ideesshould I install it?15:21
ianorlinlaptop!best15:21
comics_ideesdoes it play well youtube videos?15:21
comics_ideesthe Qt15:21
ianorlinlaptopI think you still need flash15:21
ianorlinlaptopthing is using qt applicatoins when you are based on qt will not create the overhead15:22
ianorlinlaptopuse what browser you like15:23
sceptWhat's "overhead"?15:28
ianorlinlaptopthings to start up the program to get it running so running just one qt program on gtk uses more additional ram than running the additoinal program on a qt based desktop15:34
sceptianorlinlaptop: What about running Firefox or Qt-based browser on Lubuntu-QT? Which would be better for performance?15:36
ianorlinlaptopQt might be better15:37
sceptAnd I've got an issue: after turning sound volume to 0 it's not possible to hear anything after increasing volume.15:37
ianorlinlaptopthat might be best on the lxqt bug tracker on github15:38
ianorlinlaptopor seek help in #lxde on oftc15:38
sceptianorlinlaptop: TU15:40
ianorlinlaptopalthough might be 15.04 with new mail as code base is changing15:45
FakeBoostHello I have graphic issues, like invisible icons, fading letters...How do I know what it's the culprit?17:49
FakeBoostDon't you bother to answer my question, I've already solved it!18:29
deleted_Hey there, I have a question, not critical, just a very curious thing that happened22:17
deleted_Last night I tried to uninstall transmission as I started usingn qbittorrent22:17
deleted_and for some reason it uninstalled nearly every package on my machine along with it22:17
deleted_ie firefox, thunderbird, steam, even my file manager22:17
deleted_luckily I had an image of my system from like 2 weeks ago and all my data is on another part.22:18
deleted_but I have no idea why it would do something like this22:18
deleted_installed a nwew icon set as well22:18
deleted_the command I ran was sudo apt-get remove transmission-common22:18
Unit193How did you install the system?  It should have told you what it was going to remove before it did.  I can tell you transmission can be uninstalled, I don't have it.22:20
deleted_Sorry, be back in a few22:20
deleted_but yeah it did tell me but did not prompt22:20
deleted_I saw steam-browser among the packages to be uninstalled and thought 'uh-oh'22:21
deleted_Also worth noting, when I shut down to re-image my FS the splash screen was Ubuntu rather than Lubuntu22:22
deleted_and purple rather than blue22:22
deleted_I'm not quite sure what apt thought it was doing22:22
deleted_What do you mean by how did I install the system, Unit19322:22
Unit193mini,iso, alternate cd, live, etc.  That means plymouth-theme-lubuntu (or whatever) was removed too.22:23
deleted_Mmmm22:23
deleted_I installed via standard install ISO22:24
deleted_was over  ayear ago22:24
deleted_*a year22:24
