[09:20] hi, can someone help me with this kind of bug: [09:20] insserv: warning: script is corrupt or invalid: /etc/init.d/../rc6.d/K09reboot [09:21] also: [09:21] Fehler traten auf beim Bearbeiten von: [09:21] python-httplib2 [09:21] python-ubuntu-sso-client [09:21] oneconf-common [09:21] python-oneconf [09:21] software-center [09:21] ubuntu-sso-client-qt [09:21] ubuntu-sso-client [09:21] python3-oneconf [09:21] ubuntu-desktop [09:21] oneconf [09:21] python-piston-mini-client [09:21] software-center-aptdaemon-plugins [09:21] !paste | jakubo [09:21] jakubo: For posting multi-line texts into the channel, please use http://paste.ubuntu.com | To post !screenshots use http://imagebin.org/?page=add | !pastebinit to paste directly from command line | Make sure you give us the URL for your paste - see also the channel topic. [09:21] sry [09:23] what triggered the recent breakage? did they sync with debian without testing? [09:28] which breakage ? [09:28] there are many at themoment [09:29] oh ok... [09:29] can you name them? [09:30] no [09:30] which one are you talking about [09:31] im not sure. soemthing broke my system, and my guess now would be that the reboot script is broke, leaving nasty faults in the FS [09:31] the reboot script ? [09:31] nasty faults on the file system ??? [09:31] what are you on about ??? [09:32] well i can only name you the symptoms [09:32] the fs faults are gone, not sure what repaired them [09:33] and i can use one of 3 setups that were broken before [09:33] do you understand how very very early in the development cycle 14.10 is ? [09:33] yes [09:34] i have done it for years now. and there were times when it was like this so i am prepared [09:34] ok... actually never this bad that it wouldnt at least boot into console... [09:34] if you understand this why do you appear to have no idea what's going on with your system [09:35] cant follow you [09:36] you're saying things like "non-tested syncs from debians" and "problems with reboot script" [09:36] ok. well, it just that it didnt happen to me for the last umm.. 3 or 4 years [09:36] so i was wondering if something has changed [09:37] ??? it's not been out for 3 - 4 years [09:37] it's been in development for a few months [09:37] if that [09:37] and i apparently falsely assumed that there would be some kind of prevention [09:37] i know -.- [09:37] prevention ??? against what [09:37] what are you actually talking about ? [09:38] this is a development version - it WILL break, a lot [09:38] your system will fail, [09:38] i mean that i switched to pre alpha versions for 3 or 4 years [09:38] you need to be aware of your system and how to deal with the issues [09:39] take this as my kind of "getting to know" ubuntu as an OS [09:39] ??? [09:39] you've just said you've used pre-alpha versions for years ?? [09:39] you should have a basic idea of how it works by now [09:40] well there were a couple of problems in the past: like stripped compatibility with raid on boot (grub) [09:40] used - not developed [09:41] you're not developing it now [09:41] no [09:41] so why are you talking about developing it ??? [09:41] I don't understand what you are saying [09:41] i never have [09:41] jakubo: Maybe it is an idea to switch to a non-development release, like Trusty. [09:41] if you are using software at this stage, you need to have a solid understanding of the OS and expect thigns to break a lot [09:41] you people get me wrong. im not compliaining. im simply asking because im curious [09:42] expecting to use it on a day to day basis and people to fix things to help you get a stable system isn't really realistic [09:42] i dont rely on these PCs, and if i did i can always install trusty on them [09:42] its simply out of curiosity [09:43] I don't understand..... [09:43] jakubo> hi, can someone help me with this kind of bug: [09:43] that suggests you want someone to fix it [09:43] or help you get it working [09:43] is there something wrong with it? [09:43] can i not ask? [09:44] is this not a chatroom to ask [09:44] sure sure [09:44] so? [09:44] but you don't appear to know what you're asking [09:44] apart from "please fix this for me" [09:44] i have not asked that [09:44] you assumed it [09:45] that's how it read [09:45] what where you asking then ? [09:45] thats waht YOU read [09:45] i want to know where it came from. how it got there and how or IF it affects my machine [09:46] it came from the development package [09:46] not all warnings do have consequences (i think) [09:46] that specific error will effect the execution of the reboot run level script, you need to validate that script and see how that will impact you [09:47] validate if it's repeatable as a problem, or a corruption due to that moment in time install [09:47] log a bug if it's repeatable [09:47] if possible apply a patch file to fix it [09:48] ok. or maybe asked more stupidly: what package will i have to wait for that fixes it (i mean the name) [09:48] what package carries these scripts? [09:48] why ? [09:48] what does that matter ? [09:48] curious [09:48] then research it [09:48] ok thanks [11:08] Howdy folks === soee_ is now known as soee [16:03] +1 is still trusty, right? [16:04] oh no, UU [16:04] never mind === gcollura_ is now known as gcollura
