valoriethere is a mini-iso though06:14
valorieI'm sure that fits on a CD06:14
bazhangthats odd then, a user is claiming to be booting off a live cd06:16

phunyguywhy is unopaste responding to commands?17:12

bazhangkewl17:12
DJonesMore to the point, why are people searching for ebooks in #ubuntu rather than on undernet17:13
phunyguyprobably lost track of what channel/server they were on17:13
bazhangand how did DJones know that was an ebook17:13
DJonesyep, seen it done before17:13
phunyguy^17:13
DJonesbazhang: Amazon.co.uk17:14
bazhangmighty fishy!17:14
bazhangaww17:14

PiciI've always figured that people just hear that warez can be found on IRC, and they just install and open up their IRC client (which joins #ubuntu by default) and then they go nuts17:14
phunyguyPici, that sounds very possible.17:14
phunyguythey googled it and found a few commands, etc17:14
bazhangthe whole internet is full of that stuff, and they come to irc?17:14
phunyguyyeah well they watch NCIS and figured that if they want to stay hidden, IRC is the place... so they go in a publicly logged channel and go nuts.17:15
phunyguy:)17:15
bazhangwith root as ident17:15
Piciwell, they're savvy enough to use Linux17:16
DJonesWonder if their ip address resolves to a .it domain, that'd be the typical case17:16
DJonesAh no,  comcast17:17
ubottuhandsomejack called the ops in #ubuntu (Jesus caused 911)18:24
phunyguyAnyone who can drive the bot... we should probably add the new ops to the bot triggers as well...18:54
geniiJordan_U: I was going to also mention that, about partition type doesn't necessarily have anything to do with filesystem :) I know a guy who actually likes to mkfs on raw disk without partitioning, suprisingly it works but can't automount.19:59
geniiLooks like there is some sex spammer making the circuit of channels, keep an eye out for username topangoa20:14
phunyguyand that will work.  I ran into issues though for example when using raw devices as raid members.  I repurposed those disks on another server without wiping that data, created new partitions, and formatted them.  About 6 months later I installed mdadm on that box, which picked up the RAID metadata, and wiped the drives.20:14
phunyguymade me MAAAAAAD20:14
Jordan_Uphunyguy: 0.9 metadata version?20:15
phunyguynot sure.... it was a couple years ago.  Maybe 4 years?20:15
phunyguybut the point is, the metadata was at a disk level instead of partition level20:15
phunyguyI would never recommend doing it that way to anyone20:15
Jordan_Uphunyguy: It's fun that with metadata version 0.9 it's sometimes literally impossible to tell if the metadata refers to the whole device, or just the last partition on the device.20:16
phunyguyfun??20:16
phunyguyFUN?!?!?20:16
phunyguylol I lost years worth of pictures20:16
phunyguy:(20:16
Jordan_U:(20:17
phunyguyluckily I found a DVD backup of the most important part... the early years with the kid.20:17
phunyguybut in the 2 months it took me to stumble across it, I was in the doghouse with my wife.20:17
Jordan_Uphunyguy: Ouch, yeah. Definitely don't want to lose those.20:17

Piciphunyguy: I think I banned them yesterday20:42
Piciwell, with a 24 hour duration20:42
Jordan_UPici: Indeed you did, I was just about to ask about that :)20:42
Jordan_UGoogle translate also tells me that the first thing they said when they entered the channel was "I am banned".20:42
phunyguyubuntu___ (~ubuntu@ubuntu-trusty.cern.ch) has joined <--- interesting hostmask/username combo20:44
phunyguyPici, ahh ok20:44
phunyguyPici, I should look at BT more often20:44
Picithey had a similar nick20:44
phunyguythey are about to get another 24 hours20:44
Priceyphunyguy: Give me a new list and I'll make the edit.20:57
ubottuIn #ubuntu, SergioAD said: ubottu: it is not coise for me :D21:18
ikonia721:29
ikoniaoops21:29
phunyguyPricey, I am not sure on the ops... I spose I could dig up the access list for the channels I am an op in now.22:07
phunyguymaybe I can't... I guess I don't have access to view the channel access lists.22:15
Unit193phunyguy: /msg chanserv access #ubuntu list  doesn't work for you?22:15
phunyguynope22:16
phunyguywell not in -offtopic anyway22:16
phunyguynot in #ubuntu either22:16
Priceyphunyguy: what's the response?22:17
phunyguyI shouldn't need to op up to see that, right?  I have a test channel that it works in without op22:17
phunyguyPricey, no response at all22:17
Unit193Works for me. >_>22:17
phunyguyUnit193, I even copied and pasted your command22:17
Priceyphunyguy: I'm pretty sure we haven't got services ignoring you. It'll be appearing somewhere... server status window, another private window?22:19
phunyguynowhere22:19
phunyguywait, I did get a permission denied, you are not an IRC operator error, but not on the more frequent attempts22:19
phunyguythat was in the server buffer22:19
phunyguy(from 7 minutes ago)22:20
PriceyYou're +A so I don't see why you'd get that error on #ubuntu.22:26
Priceyphunyguy: You're typing exactly "/msg chanserv access #ubuntu list" ?22:26
phunyguyPricey, yes22:27
PriceyAnd getting permission denied?22:28
phunyguynot getting anything currently22:28
phunyguynot sure what exactly triggered the permission denied22:28
phunyguyI tried various commands to get it again but I didn't get any22:28
Priceyphunyguy: I imagine it's your client being silly.22:28
phunyguyPricey, it works in my test channel22:29
PriceyI'd get that fixed.22:29
phunyguyjust not the #ubuntu namespace22:29
Priceyphunyguy: /msg's & /notices aren't in channels.22:29
phunyguyyes but I can list the access list in my channel22:29
phunyguy...for my channel22:29
phunyguyloading up a different client22:30
Pricey"in your channel"? do you mean while viewing your channel's window/tab in your client?22:30
PriceyCreating a new query window for chanserv and trying again might help too.22:31
phunyguy:-/ no go there22:32
Unit193phunyguy: http://paste.openstack.org/show/XUjRtsVSRC8MQSNnuO4a well there's #ubuntu at least.22:33
phunyguythanks Unit19322:33
phunyguyPricey, ^^^22:33
phunyguythere's one...22:33
ImQ009Hello. I have been just banned from #ubuntu for being a derp and laughing at a friend of mine by saying "faget" as soon as I join.23:08
Jordan_UImQ009: Hi.23:09
ImQ009Durr. Joined* May I kindly ask for the ban to be lifted?23:09
ImQ009I didn't think such a silly thing would be taken so seriously and so quickly, without even a word23:10
Jordan_UImQ009: As you can hopefully understand, we don't appreciate homophobic slurs in #ubuntu.23:10
ImQ009If that offends you, then I'm sorry23:10
phunyguys/you/anyone/23:10
ImQ009Jordan_U, The misspelling of that word was intentional and in my opinion it doesn't even have the same meaning as proper word :P23:11
phunyguyImQ009, it totally does do anyone that reads it.,23:11
Jordan_UImQ009: Hopefully you now understand that homophobic slurs are offensive, no matter how you spell them. Correct?23:13
ImQ009I have always understood that. I just wasn't execting it to be taken so seriously23:14
ImQ009Especially in such an ironic way. Again, I'm sorry :P23:14
ImQ009I do have a weird sense of humour, can't help that23:15
ImQ009That aside, I am able to behave as a normal person if it's required23:15
Jordan_UImQ009: Well you can help your future behavior in #ubuntu hopefully, correct?23:15
ImQ009Jordan_U, As I said, yes23:16
Jordan_UImQ009: Great. Here is a link to our channel guidelines: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/IRC/Guidelines please read them, and if after reading them you agree to follow them, I will remove the ban.23:17
ImQ009Jordan_U, I agree to respect and follow the guidelines.23:20
Jordan_UImQ009: You should now be able to re-join #ubuntu.23:21
ImQ009Thank you. And again, I'm sorry for the trouble23:22
