This article (http://mostad.eu/why-i-switched-to-ubuntu-from-lubuntu-on-my-netbook/ ) says otherwise. [16:19] hi [16:20] I noticed something I did not understand, at my lubuntu 14.04 I receive with dist-upgrade the 3.13.0-30-generic kernel, and at my virtualbox lubuntu 14.04 I receive only the "linux-image-3.13.0-29-generic", why the difference? [16:24] sources are updated on both systems [16:32] ok, sry trusty-proposed was the difference ... [20:02] I have just installed lubuntu in vmware , but the screen resolution is little is not full screen , i m not sure how to fix this , please help [20:03] ?? [20:04] help me out please !!! Can I get a 10.2 from a ppa or do I need to compile it from source? [22:05] Trying to install. At "install along side" screen. Continue button is disabled [22:06] Anyone around to help a n00b [22:09] anyone around to help a new user? [22:09] trying to install lubuntu. Got to the "Install Alongside Them" page [22:10] i might can helpish [22:10] have allocated drive space (existing XP install on PC). But the CONTINUE button is not enbled [22:10] Did I break something already? ;) [22:11] hmm, you selected along side and not 'something else'? [22:11] correct. wanted to install without erasing my xp === ricks99_ is now known as ricks99 [22:15] I'm not sure then. Myself, I use a second harddrive for my customers who insist on keeping their proprietary OS. Windows 'fixed' Linux partitions too many times to risk it anymore. In the old days I resized partitions, lost a few windows installations that way [22:16] If you have an old drive that is 'not working' (aka: not working for windows), it will probably work for linux after formatting it from the lubuntu installer CD [22:17] any way to repartition without loosing my xp installation, then install ubuntu on the new partitin? [22:20] yes, I used gparted to do so many times. works best if you can errorcheck, clean, delete unneeded files, and defrack the windows partition inside windows first. Then gparted will let you shrink the partition (takes a scary long time) and create Linux partitions in the space left [22:20] afk [22:21] k. i'll try that. [22:21] thx for the help
