dodgeremma: it's quiet here at times ;)00:48
The0x539gateway/web/00:49
The0x539sigh00:49
The0x539anyway00:49
The0x539I'm not done installing, but are there prepackaged alternate cursor sets?00:49
dodgerThe0x539: yes00:49
The0x539dodger: good00:50
dodgeryou can go to system settings -> workspace appearance -> cursor theme00:50
The0x539any that won't feel so ...don't know... toy-ish? to someone used to the standard cursor shapes?00:50
dodgerand click the Get New Theme button :)00:50
The0x539I was talking about prepackaged :|, meaning the same level of quality would be guaranteed00:50
dodgerah00:51
dodgerhold on00:51
The0x539There a known good one?00:51
TheFakeazneD525The0x539: the "Get New Themes" button should help you00:53
The0x539TheFakeazneD525: again, not what I was asking00:54
TheFakeazneD525prepackaged?00:54
TheFakeazneD525like in .deb?00:54
The0x539official, comes with the install00:54
The0x539like the different themes bundled with xfce, despite being able to download more00:54
TheFakeazneD525yeah, there are quite a few themes...00:55
TheFakeazneD525iirc, a standard looking cursor should be bundled00:55
dodgeri think the oxygen themes and the KDE classic theme are the only ones that are part of the distribution though00:55
dodgerKDE classic is old-school, might be what you're looking for ;)00:56
TheFakeazneD525Oh dear...00:59
TheFakeazneD525I can't seem to find the "mouse themes" KCM01:00
The0x539I just want one that has the same visual appeal, but not kiddy shapes01:00
dodgerTheFakeazneD525: it's under workspace appearance01:00
TheFakeazneD525wait, let me check if it's here01:00
TheFakeazneD525I'm in netrunner actually01:00
dodgerah01:00
The0x53984%01:00
The0x539itshappening.gif01:00
TheFakeazneD525dodger: nope, "workspace appearance" isn't here01:01
dodgerThe0x539: I think you might be best off finding one via the get new theme button; there's not a lot that come prepackaged in the repositories01:01
TheFakeazneD525._.01:01
TheFakeazneD525dodger: is there any way to install the workspace appearance KCMs?01:05
dodgeri'd think they come with the standard install, let me check01:05
The0x539dodger: I only need one :P01:06
TheFakeazneD525dodger: it did with Kubuntu, but it's curiously missing from Netrunner (standard)01:06
TheFakeazneD525Sysinfo for 'DSI-NB1': Running inside KDE 4.13.0 on Netrunner 13.12, Enigma-II powered by Linux 3.11.0-23-generic, CPU: AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics at 850-1700/1700 MHz, RAM: 3043/3361 MB, Storage: 28/189 GB, 185 procs, 15.64h up01:06
dodgerTheFakeazneD525: do you have the window decorations or desktop theme kcms?01:06
TheFakeazneD525Yes, I have all the "Desktop Appearance" KCMs01:06
dodgerweird, what version of kde are you running?01:14
TheFakeazneD5254.1301:15
TheFakeazneD525Engima 2 uses Kubuntu 13.10 as a base01:15
dodgeri don't see a package that should do it01:17
dbromanyone using xbmc01:37
* friti uses XBMC01:43
fritidbrom: what's the problem with XBMC?01:43
dbromi have installed it but cant access it01:44
fritiCan you be more specific?01:44
dbromok installed it on kubuntu 13.10 ive read that all you need is smb and xbmc but its not working01:47
fritiWhat happens when you start xbmc?01:48
dbromshit.... how do i start it01:49
fritiYou don;t know how to start it, and yet you can claim that it;s not working?01:49
fritiMenu > Multimedia > XBMC Media Center01:50
fritiOr open Konsole and type xbmc and press enter.01:51
dbrom/etc/init.d/xbmc start01:51
fritiAre you doing what i asked you to?01:52
dbromyes01:53
dbromXBMC needs hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering.01:53
dbromInstall an appropriate graphics driver.01:53
fritiWell, what graphics card do you have?01:54
dbromhow do i find that...01:54
friti*facepalm*01:54
dbromi know01:54
fritiFirst get your Kubuntu to work before you take on anything else, like xbmc. First things first.01:55
dbromit works but doesnt have OpenGL on it01:56
fritiOpen Konsole, and type the following command: lspci | grep 'VGA'01:57
dbromXBMC needs hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering.01:59
dbromInstall an appropriate graphics driver.01:59
fritiYou are not doind as i ask you01:59
fritiOpen Konsole, and type the following command: lspci | grep 'VGA'01:59
fritiWhen i do that, it says : "02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF106 [GeForce GTS 450] (rev a1)"02:00
fritiTell me what it tells you02:00
dbromIntel Corp E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Intergrated Graphics Controler02:01
fritiAh so you have an integrated Intel. Now let's see if there are drivers that you can install. Type jockey-kde and press enter. (doing this from memory, i use Kubuntu 14:04 and that does not have jockey anymore)02:02
dbromERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for AppIndicator302:04
dbrom: cannot connect to X server02:04
fritiOkay, try this then: sudo apt-get install kde-full02:05
fritiThat will install a bunch of stuff, and hopefully also a bunch that is currently missing from your configuration02:06
dbromstill installing02:15
* The0x539 sighs02:15
The0x539guess I'll have to deal with the kiddy normal cursor02:15
The0x539The loading and standard are the only two I dislike.02:16
fritidbrom: That's good. It means that it is adding stuff that you were missing.02:16
dbromyes thats ussuall the case02:16
fritidbrom: still installing?02:29
dbromyes02:29
fritiJust checking.02:29
dbromstill here02:57
fritiMe too :-)02:58
dbromwhere aree you from02:59
fritiI'm from the Netherlands, currently living in the USA03:00
fritiYou?03:00
dbromCanada Toronto03:00
fritiAh, east. I live on the west coast03:00
dbromok, have clients out there03:02
dbromu there03:14
dbromsame error03:14
fritiRight, same error. Perhaps you should do a reboot and then try again03:24
dbromi have installed a deb file using dkpg how do i remove it03:31
TheFakeazneD525dbrom: dpkg -r packagename03:35

jubolog2I am running 14.04 inside of latest VirtualBox on clean Windows713:31
jubolog2How do I turn the "autoresize desktop size based on window resize in HOST OS13:32
jubolog2no..  in Guest OS13:32
jubolog2I get only 640x480 Plos halp13:32
jubolog2also gib money to Eastern Polan13:34
SternNLYou need to install Guest Additions from inside your Kubuntu 14.04 virtual system13:42
SternNLMake sure you have installed "VirtualBox Extension Pack" in your Guest OS (Windows). You can download it from the virtualbox.org website13:43
SternNLHost OS i mean13:44
The0x539How well would Thunderbird integrate compared to kmail?13:50
The0x539also, a fairly basic question, how do I get my desktop to just show ~/Desktop/13:51
jubolog2SternNL: Installing extension pack13:58
jubolog2I want to reboot I assume13:58
jubolog2coz nothing interesting happened13:58
fritijubolog2: Yes, you will want to reboot the OS in VirtualBox.14:01
jubolog2I'm doing that currently14:01
fritiAwesome14:02
jubolog2now it says "Proprietary drivers may be needed..."14:02
jubolog2Seamless mode and Auto-resize Guest Display14:03
jubolog2are grayed out14:03
jubolog2I run Linux and Windows inside that unless gaming14:03
fritiOkay, reading back, i would like to get some things clear. You installed the Guest additions by clicking Device => Insert Guest Additions CD Image, and then started autorun.sh, correct?14:06
fritiAlso, pay attention to any error messages that may appear whilst intalling the guest additions.14:09
SternNLIf I'm not mistaken the package "gcc" is needed14:16
fritiOne should first do 'sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-generic' to install both all the tools and libs that are needed for compilation, as well as the kernel headers. The latter is needed by the VBoxLinuxAdditions14:20
fritiOh well, seems like jubolog2 has lost interest.14:22

vbgunzI have this issue on 14.04 with my desktop. icons overlap one another on every other reboot. it's kind of crazy15:49
yossarianukvbgunz: that happens to me in Arch (kde)16:00
yossarianukvbgunz: do you use mutiple monitors?16:00
vbgunzyossarianuk: yeah, I have 3 monitors, I bounce between them using shortcuts but at the moment only one is on.16:01
yossarianukpossibly connected.16:01
yossarianukhave yo tried to place the icons/widgets where you want then logging out rather than shutting down ?16:01
vbgunzI'm not sure when it happens, they're all connected ready for all types of configurations but 2 of them are off and not enabled16:02
vbgunzI haven't really tested what exactly is causing them to overlap, I usually sleep over logging out or shutting down16:02
jubolog2How do I make a USB-connectable hard drive so that Windows agrees to see it and to format it?16:30
jubolog2'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb count=1' doesn't do the magic it did for the USB-stick16:30
jubolog2I tried with few hundred thousands too16:31
jubolog2still nothing but "plink-plonk" when I plug it16:31
jubolog2maybe with mkfs ?16:33
jubolog2mkfs sayss /dev/sdb no such device16:42
jubolog2I should maybe run something else 1st and then try to put a partition in with 'mkfs --type=NTFS -V /dev/sdb' ?16:43

dougielfriti, ssh is working is that ok?20:59
fritiShould be fine. As long as you can install kde-full21:00
dougielfriti, thanks - its going now21:00
fritiIt might give you some stuff that you don;t want/need, but it will satisfy dependencies that you are now missing. And the undesired software can always be uninstalled.21:00

phoenixzIs there anything known about 14.04 and a borked up rtl8192se driver21:31
phoenixz?21:31
phoenixzI'm going nuts with the 14.04 release. 13.10 had no problem as far as I can see, 14.04 will just disconnect WiFi on random moments, specially with bad connections (lots of packets are being dropped).. And I suspect that the driver is also very guilty in the packet dropping, because after reloading the driver, sunndely packet drops are gone as well..21:32
