=== cassio is now known as Guest9852 [10:37] 'Morning all [10:37] hi BluesKaj [10:37] hi elfy === cassio is now known as Guest50519 [16:03] Does anyone know the password for logging in to Ubuntu 14.10? [16:04] !md5sum | fishscene there is no password needed [16:04] fishscene there is no password needed: To verify your Ubuntu ISO image (or other files for which an MD5 checksum is provided), see http://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM or http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO/Checking_the_md5sum_in_Windows [16:04] seems to be a bad download [16:05] no live ubuntu does what your describing is all if a good download [16:06] I downloaded from here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ [16:06] fishscene, Where from is not the issue per-say it should go to the desktop. [16:06] no logging in [16:08] the amd64 bit is not updating however it apparently failed in testing I have been told [16:08] the daily is not updating [16:10] ah. I have the 64-bit. That could be why [16:14] fishscene, I have 14.10 installed I used a version of that download slightly earlier, check the sum that is probably the issue. [16:15] we have not had a single problem like your addressed here on that download, I just shared the daily update is all. [16:16] checking the sum is fast and will be more definitive not a guess [16:17] however I have had on one occasion a good sum but still broken so you have to do your work and think in and outside the box to some extent [16:24] MD5 (utopic-desktop-amd64.iso) = 7fec270a5eb4ab5abeb49a4543456434 [16:24] That doesn't match at all. Let me retry downloading [16:47] ok yea. Redownloaded, verified md5 sum matched (it did), and now it is working as expected. Not sure what went wrong the first time with the download. Thanks guys. [21:38] hoping this is the right place for an xorg-edgers question.. I can't get CUDA to work on my nvidia card with xorg-edgers but it did work when I installed the driver from nvidia directly [21:38] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1320990 <- reported [21:38] Ubuntu bug 1320990 in xorg (Ubuntu) "[xorg-edgers] BOINC can't find CUDA driver with xorg-edgers packages" [Undecided,New] [21:39] anyone have any ideas what to try first? I have 0 CUDA experience.. :/ [21:40] gQuigs: Might be good to mention it in #ubuntu-x I think some xorg-edgers are in there usually [21:53] thanks genii, will try
