[00:10] Evening [00:10] We'll be starting the meeting in 50 minutes [00:12] sweet [00:12] i'm actually here. it's amazing [01:01] Hey everyone. :) [01:01] Welcome back. Hope everyone had an awesome weekend [01:02] http://loco.ubuntu.com/meetings/ubuntu-us-mi/755/detail/ [01:02] http://goo.gl/v3U3Kp - Regular monthly Ubuntu US MI IRC meeting | Ubuntu LoCo Team Portal [01:02] There's the agenda for the meeting [01:04] So we'll wait a few more minutes for folks to get settled in and we'll get started. [01:04] g'day [01:05] Good evening [01:09] Ok, first order of business is Ohio Linuxfest [01:09] This is fast approaching. [01:10] Like super-fast the way this summer has been going for us. [01:10] So I'm not sure who all is planning on attending OLF (I'm looking to head out this year with J) [01:11] Anyone else planning on going? [01:14] not certain yet [01:14] kk [01:14] I'd like to try to coordinate with Ohio and pool our resources together [01:14] Ohio being the Ohio Loco [01:15] Does anyone know the status of the Ohio Loco ? [01:16] Not I sorry [01:17] No worries. [01:17] I can send them a note and see what they're up to. [01:20] Too bad it's not opposite something awesome like Origins. :) [01:20] but oh well [01:21] Anyone have anything else on OLF they'd like to talk about? [01:23] not at this time [01:23] Man, y'all are quiet tonight. :) [01:24] probably not, i think i have a ceremonial during it. when is it? (i'm horrible i know) [01:24] i'm also watching Endeavour. [01:25] http://www.streetsmartnurse.com/olfdates.jpg [01:25] http://goo.gl/6A8MVe - image/jpeg [01:26] oh no my ceremonial is way before that [01:26] both of them [01:26] thanks [01:28] Coolness [01:29] all you had was OLF? [01:29] hah, the summer is kinda slow. [01:30] yeah, not much else going on at the moment [01:30] other than they got the calendar ical feed working again. :) [01:30] nice [01:32] Also today is the last day to get T-Shirts if you're going to PyOhio [01:32] which you should be. [01:32] because PyOhio is awesome [01:33] i don't know python... [01:33] And this is why you should go to PyOhio [01:33] hah [01:34] Anywho, that's all that I have at the moment [01:34] so unless there's anything else please exit by the gift shop and have a great rest of the month. [01:35] Oh, and we still have DVDs so if anyone wants them, please let me know [01:35] nice [01:36] For pyohio is it possible to do just Saturday and would it be worth it? [01:37] i have a general question regarding installation. please, waldo323_ has the floor, so to speak. :) [01:37] Possibly, but you'd be spending 5 hours on the road either way [01:37] so it'll be a little much IMHO [01:37] i'd say. [01:37] :) ok thanks [01:39] stupid question that i should know the answer to but don't: is it possible for me to have a persistent install on a thumb drive (16gb or so) and have it skip the choice of "install or try" so i can just like, boot to the desktop on the thumb drive? (I have a windows 8.1 install on my desktop) [01:39] i'd like to use this thumb drive with both my mac and my desktop. [01:40] I haven't tried with the latest release but you could do this [01:41] :) yay! [01:41] glad to know it's possible [01:41] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yez_rC9E2mI [01:41] http://goo.gl/Bq6r6Y - Macabre Demise - Walk This Death (Aerosmith Cover) - YouTube [01:41] would i grab an image and burn it to a DVD then install to the thumb drive? [01:41] I'd install to the thumb drive as if if was a USB HD and would remove any other hard drives during the install [01:41] ooo [01:42] i thought that's how it would work [01:42] cmaloney, what is the meaning of that video? [01:42] are you darning my windows install to heck? [01:42] Happened to be something that was on my hard drive. [01:42] ah [01:42] nice [01:42] speaking of windows 8.1, it's not half bad... *ducks and covers* [01:43] Yeah. Its pretty nice being able to have persistent storage, configs and applications [01:43] It is better than vista ;) [01:43] yeah, i mean i'd like to muck with it but i need microsoft office (for compatibility reasons) [01:43] it is actually halfway decent [01:43] faster than 7 on my desktop [01:44] just as fast as ubuntu [01:44] too bad microsoft office, WoW and D3 don't run on it. [01:49] ok, almost bedtime (work, early, tired, etc). see everyone tomorrow. have a good night. [01:59] You too [10:09] bd [10:09] heh [10:09] stupid tmux [12:05] They took some major damage from last night's storm about 3 miles east of my house [12:32] Ugh. Are you OK? [12:35] mornin [12:35] Yeah, no problems here. They can't decide whether it was straight line winds or an EF1 tornado that hit a 2 or 3 mile long strip [13:30] http://www.mug.org/?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/event/info&page_id=1425&id=30&reset=1 [13:30] http://goo.gl/X555i0 - Michigan!/usr/group | mug.org – A Michigan-based Linux and UNIX Free and Open Source Community [13:30] If you ever needed a reason to come out to MUG, this is a reason. [13:32] why not title of event in the html title? [13:32] so that we could see "The Go Programming Language" [13:33] because we're using CiviCRM under Wordpress, and it doesn't know any better. [13:33] http://www.mug.org/2014/07/july-8th-2014-mug-meeting/ [13:33] http://goo.gl/v71uCi - July 8th, 2014 MUG Meeting | Michigan!/usr/group [13:33] wait... wordpress would do it, but a bad WP plugin is clogging it up? that is a shame. [13:37] Well, it's how we're using the plugin [15:10] weee, and back online after the 4 day weekend (for me) to lots of IRC pings and tooonnns of email [15:18] Heh [15:26] morning [15:29] Good morning [15:30] stupid europeans not getting July 4th off [15:30] who wouldn't want to celebrate us? [15:30] i'm quoting greg-g on that. [15:30] if nobody else at least England should [15:30] he thinks europeans are stupid. [15:30] mrgoodcat: to celebrate their loss? [15:30] july 4th is their kid's birthday [15:31] jrwren: :P [15:45] lol google maps hacking win https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kevin+P+is+the+Man/@38.897837,-77.0363511,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x88fb9dfa3893a83f:0xe0e1feddbe4084ef [15:45] http://goo.gl/Ssr2Ty - Google Maps [17:20] domains fully restored to no-ip apparently [17:21] Yeah. [17:22] too bad I'm already gone :) [17:22] greg-g: I'm sure you're not the only one. [17:22] yeah, really sucks, I wonder if they're exploring a lawsuit [17:22] harm to brand/image/reputation [17:22] For their sake I hope they are. [17:23] but, I guess they *were* being used for malware, so... [17:23] but, as previously discussed, whether the action taken was justified or not... [17:25] greg-g: Yeah. I'm not a fan of secret warrants carried out. [17:25] But at least they got a warrant [17:25] which is more than I can say for some departments. [17:25] * greg-g nods [17:25] NSA [17:26] *coughs* notaterrorist *coughs* [17:26] Well, I am in #linuxjournal [17:26] so I'm already boned [17:27] haha, right [17:27] subersive! [17:27] +v [17:47] Linux EXTREMIST [17:52] http://lj.mybigcommerce.com/linux-journal-extremist-reader/ [17:52] http://goo.gl/zW2BY5 - Linux Journal Extremist Reader - Linux Journal Store [19:17] Having one of those days where i wonder if I'm the only sane one in the conversation [19:18] Getting flack from the recipient of an Excel file because the dates are formatted differently (yyyy-mm-dd instead of mm/dd/yyyy) [19:18] save that they're dates. In Excel. Formatting should be irrelevant. [19:22] You dare use non-USA date formatting? [19:22] cmaloney: you are a terrorist [19:22] And I prefer the Metric system for certain things. [19:23] * cmaloney better not fly anytime soon [19:23] I'll remind you that this channel is the Michigan, US-mutherfucking-A channel [19:24] Oh, um... Budweiser Chevy Marlboro [19:25] cmaloney: you mean like its 29 degrees out? [19:25] jrwren: I'll be farenheit til the day I die. [19:26] I've tried to grok Celsius but 14C and 15C don't translate in my brain [19:26] F makes good sense for human usage. [19:26] only 29C? it was 106F where we were this past weekend :) [19:26] colder than 0 is too cold. hotter than 100 is too hot. [19:26] EAsY! [19:26] greg-g: yeah, I saw someone say 35 and I went O_O [19:27] :) [19:27] FYI: the central valley (CA) is the devil's country [19:29] He must have a vacation home there. [19:33] lmorchard23: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/324283889/potato-salad [19:33] http://goo.gl/nyjBPx - Potato Salad by Zack Danger Brown — Kickstarter [19:33] What the fuck? [19:36] What is this idiocy? [19:36] Apparently there is a potato salad that needs making [19:37] I think it's a protest of the Kickstarter vetting relaxation [20:04] wow [20:05] so, has KS jumped the shark? [20:05] dunno that it can, users of it did a long time ago [21:56] guess who has two thumbs and a completely portable ubuntu stick? [21:56] guess who's mucking with it on her mac right now? [22:06] gamerchick02: woot [22:06] i'm such a nerd [22:06] it still says windows on the bootloader but that doesn't matter [22:07] also i got a bunch of terminal garbage when i started it up on the mac. is that normal? [22:43] gamerchick02: how did you do it? link me to instructions. i NEED that! [22:56] jrwren, all you do is make a DVD of the ubuntu download, then install it (straight up install it) to a thumb drive [22:56] Oh, and install the bootloader TO THE THUMB DRIVE NOT THE HARD DRIVE. [22:57] it's pretty rad [22:57] now, when you boot into the ubuntu drive, you'll probably have a grub that's mucked up if you switch from computer to computer... like on my mac it says "ubuntu, ubuntu advanced, something else, and then Windows 8" [22:57] so yeah.
