tomdpHey everyone. I'm having an issue running both i386 and ARM instances of ubuntu-emulator on both of my Xubuntu Trusty machines. The display is usually black, sometimes picking up garbage from other parts of my screen, sometimes garbage from ubuntu touch's GUI, and divided into misaligned horizontal rectangles. This happens on machines with different GPU drivers. I have not yet tested it on a Trusty installation using another DE.00:43

quizmehi, does anbody know if running ubuntu on a Samsung Galaxy NotePro would work ?03:37
quizmewhy would i want to install ubuntu-touch on my tablet compared to say regular ubuntu 14.04? Because i have a touch-screen?  It's a fairly powerful machine, so i would imagine that you could run full ubuntu on it.03:42
lotuspsychjemorning03:50
nhaineslotuspsychje: good morning!03:53
lotuspsychjenhaines: hello, how are you03:53
nhainesquizme: Ubuntu with Unity 8 has a very nice mobile-style interface, so if you would like that, then you choose that.  If you'd rather use Ubuntu Desktop, then you'd use 14.04 instead.  In a couple of years you won't have to choose one or the other because Unity 8 will do desktop UIs too.  :)03:54
nhaineslotuspsychje: tired but not bad.  How about you?  :)03:54
lotuspsychjenhaines: fine tnx, enjoying my nexus7 touch03:54
lotuspsychjeyou guys doing a great job03:54
nhainesNot me, I'm just an onlooker.  :)  I keep up with updates so that I can tell others about them.03:55
nhainesAlthough I did do the Nintendo Miiverse webapp.  I need to sit down and design a game some day.03:55
lotuspsychjenhaines: im also just a thrilled user, no dev03:55
lotuspsychjeplaying with devel touch03:56
nhainesYou could always try out the SDK.  I love my Ubuntu Pioneer shirt.  :)03:56
lotuspsychjei hope you guys get the meizu and bq images03:56
nhainesHopefully there's a new promotion tomorrow.  I'd like to report some Nexus 5 bugs.03:56
lotuspsychjesaw some video's with n5 running touch on youtube03:57
nhainesMy next phone will probably be the Meizu.  But thanks to a dropped Galaxy Nexus, my Nexus 5 is pretty new.  So I might have to go with the 2nd gen one in the future.  :)03:57
nhainesOther than lack of bluetooth support and right now the screen doesn't turn off, Ubuntu runs beautiful on the Nexus 5.03:57
lotuspsychjenhaines: im sure once the meizu and bq images will leak, touch will change fast for any device03:58
lotuspsychjenhaines: you got it running on your n5?03:58
lotuspsychjeBeldar: morning03:58
Beldarhowdee03:59
lotuspsychjei just got a brightness bug on my n703:59
lotuspsychjeevery boot, it resets back to default darkness03:59
nhaineslotuspsychje: I didn't "get" it running.  Tassadar did, and between that and MultiROM Manager it's the simplest thing in the world.  :)04:03
lotuspsychjenhaines: im never going back to android, so dont need those multirom :p04:03
nhainesI seriously doubt the official RTM images will change anything with regards to other ports.04:03
lotuspsychjeim sure they will, of new ideas04:04
nhaineslotuspsychje: I still need Google Navigation and Ingress, plus email and Bluetooth, so until then...  :)04:04
nhainesThere won't be any new ideas.  devel is already it.04:04
nhainesAll the hard stuff is driver support.  Once you have that, the rest is trivial  But few are dedicated enough to get it working.04:05
lotuspsychjesure its already nice, but just out of curiosity they will look into it04:05
lotuspsychjeim missing my terminal apps04:05
nhainesOh yeah, Canonical seems determined to make sure SSH apps don't work.  So that'll be a problem.04:06
lotuspsychjetoo bad the devel is locked dir04:06
lotuspsychjei wanted to experiment both updates and terminal apps04:06
lotuspsychjewould be more interesting then waiting all the click apps release04:08
lotuspsychjejust an example, i wanna see how mupdf reacts on ubuntu touch04:08
lotuspsychjeor nmap04:09
nhainesOh, just enable write support.04:10
lotuspsychjenhaines: i did, but then i cant get updates anymore?04:10
nhainesBut apt breaks on the ARM partition scheme, so you can't do apt-get upgrade.04:10
nhainesIf you're very careful with it, it might not break everything.04:10
lotuspsychjenhaines: they should build a system button to lock/unlock write support04:11
nhainesThey shouldn't.  If you want to break your phone you should know what you're doing.  :)04:12
nhainesthere's a phablet-tools command to run on your computer to enable it anyway.  It's pretty trivial.04:12
lotuspsychjewell i heard a dev say here they gonna try a seperate line for installing the terminal way04:13
lotuspsychjeand use click apps as main also04:13
lotuspsychjelets hope it all changes in the right direction :p04:13

mardytvoss: I guess that the backend I should use is the trust store, right?07:18
tvossmardy, we do not support contact access for rtm07:20
mardytvoss: OK; what about bookmarks and history, call logs and messages?07:23
tvossmardy, none of them as far as I know for RTM. We distilled the list down to camera, pulse and location07:24

ogra_ah08:38
ogra_thats different then08:38
pittiwhat might have happened though was that the previous boot failed due to the battery being very low08:38
pittifor some reason the mako is totally broken when it comes to switching it off08:38
ogra_yeah08:38
pittieven when doing so it sometimes drains the battery like mad08:38
ogra_we have bugs open for that08:39
pittiand the screen stays on (but black)08:39
ogra_(shutting down properly, warning about low battery and shutting down early enough to not completely drain it)08:39
pittino, I mean I regularly switch it off after I'm done with it08:39
pittibut then it sometimes turns itself back on, or keeps the screen on08:39
ogra_sounds like a bug ... mine usually shuts down (but takes up to 3min to do so)08:40
pittihappens with both "power button for 5 s" and "sudo poweroff"08:40
ogra_sounds like a hanging upstart job08:41
pittino, when I quickly press the power button when it's on the cable I see the "charge" logo, which should mean "I'm off and charging"08:42
pittiand nothing happens when it's not on a cable08:42
pittianyway, different issue08:42
ogra_yeah, thats bootloader ... cant do much about that08:42

cyphermox_indeed, this is a better place15:19
cyphermox_no, it's not15:19
cyphermox_we've had to deviate a little from the design, some things just aren't possible, and this Forget this device was found as something missing from bluetooth15:20
cyphermox_we'll fix the design/implementation to match once mpt is back and we can discuss this15:20

cyphermox_pitti: though as I poke NM to check this, right now my 5 has higher signal ;)15:27
pitticyphermox_: right, but I have a different ESSID for my 5 GHz network, so if I only tell it to connect to that it shouldn't even consider the other15:28

bzoltancjwatson: I remember that you were working on the qmake problem for the chroots. Could you figure out something? For the sdk I need to `qmake  -query`. I have an idea how to work the sdk problem around, but if you have something I would take that.16:12
cjwatsonbzoltan: It's on my list but sorting out the RTM archive is more urgent16:14
bzoltancjwatson: That is fine. In the QtCreator I can set where and what is the qmake for the target. I am thinking about a solution to "fool" the QtCreator and just return the variables what a real native qmake would return. That would enable us to create chroot specific kit for qml projects. The real solution would be of course to make a qmake-armhf what is an x86 binary what works with the armhf chroot as a sysroot.16:17
bzoltancjwatson: kind of what madde did with the meego sdk16:17
cjwatsonI can't even think about this right now, sorry16:17

ralsinajdstrand: I am writing that documentation as I type (ok, not as I type here ;-)19:30
jdstrandbeuno: I think the infographics that tedg mentioned are just like the push-helper-- a second entry in the hooks db19:30
tedgjdstrand, Probably good to wait until the feature *lands* just incase it doesn't, but yes. I'll make sure pete-woods knows he needs to do that too.19:30
Chipacajdstrand: except apparently a package can be just an infographic19:31
