michielcHi there! I have an issue after installing Ubuntu Gnome.06:04
michielcAfter a few years of Ubuntu 12.04, yesterday I installed ubuntu gnome 1406:04
michielcWhen instering the live usb, my screen started to flicker badly, but after some minutes, I got the installation screen, and installed ubuntu gnome06:05
michielc*instering06:05
michielc*inserting...06:05
michielcNow, after the install, in like 50% of the cases, my computer boots normally. In the other 50% of the cases, the flickering is there again (which is resolved after some minutes).06:05
michielcIs this a known issue, and is there any way to solve this? (I suppose this is something about my graphics card?)06:06
michielc(I have a rather cheap Acer Aspire V3-551-... laptop)06:07
michielcTo be clear: the flickering takes place while booting (after choosing ubuntu in grub and before i get the login screen06:09
Kungrdoes anyone know how to enable recursive search ubuntu-gnome?06:51

pr0metheu5I'm running Xubuntu 14.0407:12
darkxstmichielc, I havent heard of that, though it does sound like a driver issue, what gpu do you have/08:05
darkxst?08:05
michielcSorry for my late response08:07
michielcI don't know exactly (and don't have my laptop with me), but i know it's AMD Radeon HD gpu08:08
michielcBecause it's a cheap model I don't have a specific dedicated graphics card, just the AMD Radeon HD 7520G08:11
darkxstmichielc, are you using the open source radeon driver or proprietary catalyst?08:13
darkxstprobably worth trying the other from what you are using08:13
michielcThe problem was there from the beginning (the moment I plugged in the live USB), so I guess I currently use the default drivers08:15
michielcI solved some graphical problems in the past by installing these catalyst drivers, so I should indeed give those a try08:15
michielcor are these catalyst drivers the default drivers?08:16
darkxstmichielc, no, you have to install catalyst08:16
michielcalright, I'll give it a shot (I'm not sure if I can try it tonight), and I'll be back to let you know if the problems persist08:17
michielcThanks for your advice :)08:17
ceed^I'm trying to ppa-purge the staging PPA since Evolution is currently quite broken. However, ppa-purge says it needs to remove evolution, gdm. gnome-shell and mutter which would break my system. Any ideas how I can do this, or do I have to reinstall?15:34
hazeldevhey guys I have a fresh, updated install of gnome 14.04 running on an acer thin client with a touchscreen.  Does gnome use caribou or onboard as its onscreen keyboard in ubuntu?  Enabling it in the accessibility menu doesn't work and I'm trying to find out where to start.16:00
DASPRiDso, i'm working on a wallpaper for the 14.10 contest… :D19:58
DASPRiDanyone in here who has some insight on the wallpaper contest?20:59
DASPRiDregarding the rules20:59
NoskcajDASPRiD, what's your question about them?21:01
DASPRiDi've read that no branding assets like "ubuntu gnome" are allowed21:02
DASPRiDbecause of derivative distributions21:02
DASPRiDso basically one must not identify the wallpaper with ubuntu at call, corect?21:02
Noskcajyep21:02
DASPRiDtoo bad, i had such a wonderful idea :(21:02
DASPRiDhttp://stuff.dasprids.de/screenshots/2014/07/24/222446.png21:02
NoskcajI suggest you put that on gnome-look21:03
DASPRiDwithout the ubuntu logo, the gag doesn't really work (utopic unicorn)21:03
NoskcajI think MLP isn't allowed on the default iso either21:03
DASPRiDit's at least not easy, copyright wise… at least gray zone21:04
DASPRiDah well, I'll just put it on my dA account21:05
DASPRiDafter i added some shading :)21:05
