=== eniLCP_ is now known as PCLine_ [00:54] PCLine_: Howdy. [00:55] Hello Unit193 [00:59] Sup guys [00:59] o/ [01:00] I'm still going to try and make it to OLF but... Not i [01:00] 100% sure [01:00] Poo, you know the Talk deadline is torromow? [01:00] tomorrow* [01:00] I want to do Kubuntu and Plasma 5 for Ubucon. [01:01] My twist is the wife is Due Oct 29 [01:01] Darkwing: Howdy. And dang, bummer about that but at the same time congrats. [01:01] Thanks Unit193! [01:02] So, if I can pencil in a Kubuntu talk at Ubucon as a last talk *if* I make it? [01:04] congrats dee doublu [01:04] double-u [01:04] :-D [01:04] Also assuming that there is an HDMI plug alongside the VGA one. [01:05] PCLine_: So, you're from Cincy, but what brought your attention to out neck of the woods? [01:06] Indeed. Why? [01:06] -t+r [01:07] Dayton [01:07] But your IP address says Cincy [01:07] My work IP address says i'm in san francisco [01:07] i'm in cleveland. [01:08] companies don't update their reverse dns that often [01:08] Ah, I see. [01:08] I found a program called observium and needed something to run it on. Ubuntu was the first VirtualPC iso i found. [01:09] Mine put me in Girard, I don't live there. [01:09] And, coolio. [01:09] PCLine_, and do you need support for that program? [01:10] Nope got it up and running already. [01:11] I joined to see how others are using the software. [01:11] I think none of us uses it [01:11] But maybe in #ubuntu-offtopic, you can. [01:11] using Ubuntu [01:13] Looks like an interesting tool, using Ubuntu Desktop or Server? [01:15] I am running it in VirtualPC on Win7 - Server 32Bit. [01:15] jrgifford: RR generally updates a bit faster, but yeah same point. RR seemed to pick up my change faster than Maxmind. :P [01:29] Mmmmmm plasma 5 pretty [01:30] I haven't filed a backport request in a while but, um, yeah: https://bugs.launchpad.net/trusty-backports/+bug/1347980 [01:30] [ Bug #1347980 “Please backport dianara 1.2.1-0.1 (universe) from ...” : Bugs : trusty-backports ] - https://j.mp/1pd5aCm [01:30] Xfce 4.11, yummy. :D [01:30] http://imgur.com/a/BfxmE [01:30] [ Plasma 5 - Imgur ] - https://j.mp/1pd5dhu [01:31] Backport requset? Easier to repo it™! :D [01:31] xD [01:31] Unit193... ™ing repo it? Bwahahaha ;-) [01:32] Darkwing: Oh, is that the classic menu or the kickoff? [01:33] Darkwing: Who am I to speak? I cheat with mini-dinstall. :D [01:34] Works nice enough, and has signed releases, soooo... Some day I'll use reprepro. [01:34] The menuish looking thing it networks. Kickoff is overhauled [01:42] * skellat goes back to reading that article from SSRN [01:51] (Basically, I'm too annoyed at paperwork to get a proper QA/backport/sru/etc filed so I just do it otherwise. :/ ) [01:51] skellat: Have fun? [01:52] Unit193: Already backported it to my PPA, installed it, it works [01:53] Of course the package relates to using Identica so I take proprietary interest in those [01:53] As to the SSRN article...yeesh...40 page broadside [01:54] Mhmm, and python-parsedatetime is broken in trusty. :P [01:54] That's an SRU then [01:54] If it is broke, it is an SRU [01:54] If it is a new feature, it is a backport [01:54] Dianara got new features, so we'll go down the backports road [01:55] And what makes python-parsedatetime borked in 14.04? [01:55] Try using gcalcli, traceback. [01:56] Something I don't have installed [01:57] That has a lot of dependencies [01:57] Shouldn't be a lot. [02:01] Last person messing with parsedatetime is noskcaj of all people [02:01] I see in the Topic ... No Re-Open Design ... What is it that you design? [02:02] skellat: No, 1.2 is fine, it's 1.1.2 that's a dud. [02:03] PCLine_: That refers to re-opening design decisions for any of the flavours of Ubuntu. There are tools such as ubuntu-defaults-image that allow you to roll your own bespoke version of Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, etc. [02:04] For a couple days I saw bugs filed against Xfce where people were filing patches to roll Xfce backwards to 4.10 as they thought 4.11 was totally broken...which is essentially an action to re-open a design discussion. [02:04] Oh. thanks. [02:05] I notified Xubuntu tech lead & he flagged the bugs on Launchpad as "Opinion". We'll let the slugfest happen upstream on Xfce's bug tracker. [02:09] Unit193: Do you want noskcaj to pursue an SRU for parsedatetime for you? He needs to build up his portfolio some more. [02:09] I'm not worried. [02:10] Okay [02:21] * skellat just finished reading http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2466707 [02:21] [ Congressional Intransigence and Executive Power by Josh Blackman :: SSRN ] - https://j.mp/WEfiNQ [02:36] * skellat adds to the reading list for later: http://www.linuxvoice.com/raspberry-pi-model-b/ [02:36] [ Raspberry Pi Model B+ | Linux Voice ] - https://j.mp/WEi19Z [06:44] I am glad I looked at Ubuntu and not the X or L or kubuntu version first. [06:44] Heh, why is that? [06:45] I dont need a desktop. [06:45] Mhmm, then minimal or server install makes much more sense. === belkinsa is now known as belkinsa_ === belkinsa_ is now known as belkinsa_web === belkinsa_web is now known as belkinsa === belkinsa is now known as belkinsa_UOS === belkinsa_UOS is now known as belkinsa [17:03] Just returned from my pilgrimage to microcenter [17:03] I'm well beyond broke now [17:04] But I have new shiney things...like one of the raspberry pi b+ models :) [17:06] Got a beaglebone black too... [17:19] Awesome, please do tell what you think of them, more so the second. And yeah, guess you were expecting that though. [17:39] will do...looking into getting REAL debian onto the beaglebone now... [17:41] got a new VM server too though, so I may have to put the beaglebone on hold
