abaddonanyone else have a problem with the touch pad still functioning as you type even after you changed that setting?  it's driving me insane01:28
abaddonanyway, if any devs see this, please try to fix that bug, driving me nuts,  I try to type and then all of a sudden, things are popping up that I didint click on (the tap touchpad to click option is off) I have to stop typing and reclick where I want to type again.  It's horrible, I don01:48
abaddont kknow what to do to fix it myself either.  Thanks other than this it's a great distro01:48
trevor_darkxst, thanks for the help, but I'm confused about the desktop file part. What should the file contain if I want to open Guake on startup?04:45

trevor_Ok, got it now and it works perfectly. Thanks a ton darkxst, you're very helpful.06:36
stonelinkshello! anyone around? i have a quick question11:50
=== zequence_ is now known as zequence
darkxststonelinks,12:58
darkxst!ask12:58
ubot5Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience12:58
stonelinksOh thanks13:34
stonelinksSo network-manager is gone in 14.04 looks like13:35
stonelinksHow do I turn off networking?13:35
stonelinksNot the networking service13:35
stonelinksBut the 14.04 equivalent of "sudo service network-manager stop"13:36
darkxstnetwork-manager is not gone, what are you talking about13:36
stonelinksIt isn't in /etc/init.d13:37
darkxstand afaik, network-manager was never an upstart job, so what you are suggesting would not work13:37
stonelinksand doesn't show up when I tab complete on "sudo service"13:37
stonelinksAh that's right the service command is for upstart13:38
darkxststonelinks, that is because network manager runs in the use session13:38
darkxst^user13:38
darkxst(as it has always done)13:38
stonelinksOkay thanks for the info13:38
stonelinksI wonder how I'm getting confused then13:38
darkxstif you want to overide nm, you just define interfaces in /etc/network/interfaces13:39
stonelinksSo I'm used to regulat ubuntu 12.04, and I just switched to ubuntu gnome 14.0413:39
stonelinksSo what I'm actually trying to do is screw around with my wifi adapter13:39
darkxststonelinks, what I am saying applies equally to stock ubuntu13:40
darkxstthere was never a network-manager server13:40
darkxstservice13:40
stonelinksI remember being able to stop it somehow13:40
stonelinksSo it might have been /etc/init.d/network-manager stop13:41
stonelinksInstead of the upstart service command13:41
stonelinksBut like right now I'm trying to run " iwconfig wlan0 channel 4"13:41
stonelinksAnd it says my card is busy and can't do the command13:41
stonelinksEven with root13:41
stonelinksAnd back on regular ubuntu 12.04 I would just stop network-manager and things would be fine13:42
stonelinksSo I'm wondering how I'd do that in ubuntu gnome 14.04 now13:42
stonelinksThanks for the help btw, sorry I'm not too well versed on ubuntu internals13:42
stonelinksErr... services and whatnot13:43
darkxststonelinks, try #ubuntu, we don't touch the network stack13:43
darkxstso really in that area ubuntu = ubuntu GNOME13:43
stonelinksOkay thanks, much obliged13:44
stonelinksAnd BTW I'm liking this waaaay more than stock ubuntu13:45
stonelinksAnd I'm not even a unity hater13:45
stonelinksSo thanks you guys13:45
lindolhave a good night!14:14
lindol:)14:14
