kay_hi, I have run 'bzr branch' on the emacs-24 repository but all I get is a .bzr directory22:20
LeoNerdMaybe it doesn't have a checkout yet?22:21
kay_do I type a checkout command?22:21
LeoNerdI'd be tempted to22:21
kay_do i just type 'bzr checkout'22:22
kay_it says that its not a branch but that its a repository22:22
LeoNerdHmmm22:22
kay_first time bzr user22:22
LeoNerdOh, oops; you might have branched from the repository.. which probably ought to fail but might have had an empty branch in it for some reason22:23
LeoNerdA repo is not a branch; a repo -contains- branches.22:23
kay_I followed the instructions on the website for emacs development, so i have no idea where to go from here22:24
LeoNerdWhat instructions?22:25
kay_on http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/emacs/22:25
kay_it says I can access the main repository with 'bzr branch bzr://bzr.sv.gnu.org/emacs/emacs-24'22:26
LeoNerdSo, you have an  emacs-24  directory?22:27
kay_yes22:28
LeoNerdAnd inside that is ... just the .bzr and nothing else?22:28
kay_its possible, also, that the bzr command crapped out22:28
LeoNerdAh.. well, it would hopefully have printed some long error message if it did so22:29
LeoNerd... though beware that OOM-killer is silent ;)  check  $?  afterwards22:29
kay_i backgrounded it and closed the terminal it was in22:29
kay_silly me22:29
LeoNerdAh. :) Well don't do that.  Maybe use 'screen' or similar if you want to detach and resume again later22:29
kay_i needed to kill X because I was running in a VM with 512mb ram22:30
kay_but yeah, i didn't think it would take 30 minutes ro run22:30
kay_re-running it now from better instructions22:30
kay_this crap literally takes forever22:32
