[10:18] Morning rmg51 [10:19] o/ [11:59] Morning peoples, dogs, turkeys, hamsters and everything else [12:03] Morning. [12:04] \o [12:22] Anyone read the obituary in today's Phila Inquirer ? [12:23] rmg51: got the link up already [12:24] yep [12:26] http://www.philly.com/philly/obituaries/20140805_Brendan_Schrader__friend_to_inventors.html [12:27] for those who are too lazy to scroll up ^^ [12:40] Very sad news. I only met him a few times, but he seemed like a great guy. [12:42] He was a great guy. [12:42] ok, off to the train. later. [12:43] I saw him 2 weeks ago at hive open house. At the time I mentioned he should come out to north some time to hang out. He said all thsoe smart people in one room made him not feel very bright. But he was a very bright guy himself. [12:43] I'm glad I went down that day. [13:39] JonathanD: I kind of felt the same way when I visited hive :) [13:41] Oh, and if there's one thing I've learned working with electrical engineers the past couple of years, it's this: it's always the capacitors that go in HDTVs :) [17:33] their MTBF is the worst of the componets used in circuits. All these years since my schooling and only a small improvement in that. [17:48] For the one that they worked on in my lab, they determined it wasn't so much the capacitor itself, but rather it was a design flaw and they'd used one whose capacity was too low. [17:48] They replaced it with a higher capacity capacitor and it worked fine. [17:55] you can often fix TVs that way.
