[03:28] is it just me or does usb-creator-gtk not work at all on 14.04? [03:29] i'm trying to avoid burning a DVD and using a USB stick instead [03:29] I found it does finally work [03:29] after spitting the dummy in earlier releases [03:30] I had installed usb-creator-kde on the precise to saucy releases [03:31] well, i have it on 14.04 and if i try to burn a 12.04 stick, I just get "installation failed" in a popup with nothing on the console [03:31] there must be a way to do this with just dd [03:33] unetbootin is another that people use [03:34] let's see what "dd if=ubuntu.iso of=/dev/sdg count=2 bs=2G" does [03:35] uh, bs=1G rather [03:42] fmarier: i made it work earlier [03:42] but it was a bit of a fight [03:42] (i needed to format the disk like it expected first) [03:45] it looks like the above dd command was all i needed [03:51] fmarier: really? I thought some fudging of boot sectors and things was needed to convert it from the ISO. [03:51] ibeardslee: apparently it's not necessary anymore since 12.04 [03:51] those ISOs include whatever you need to boot the ISO up [19:44] morning [19:44] crappy day here in auckalnd [19:44] morning [19:44] lovely down here in wellington [19:45] a bit nippy with the clear blue sky allowing the frost to kick in [20:29] morning [21:30] morning [22:05] Morning. [22:13] morning
