[01:02] I wonder if there is a specific version of kubuntu to use as a server? [01:05] Hi!! === max is now known as Guest45495 === connie is now known as cjr === cjr is now known as cjr5757 [05:37] hello [05:38] hello [05:38] HI [06:04] Hello, I am looking for a guide or link. To install QEMU inside my KUBUNTU 14.04 [06:06] !qemu [06:06] qemu is an emulator you can use to run another operating system - see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsXPUnderQemuHowTo [06:06] bipul: ^^^ [06:07] See, I am looking for the link where i can learn, How to install QEMU Inside UBuntu OR Kubuntu 14.04. [06:16] wow, that link is ancient anyway [06:17] bipul, just use muon, or `sudo apt install qemu` in the commandline [06:18] qemu is in the repositories; it is installed just as you would any other application [06:18] !emulator [06:18] hmmm [06:19] we should have a more general link instead of that ancient one [06:19] valorie: Yes I dfid that but nothing pop out when i type in the terminal "qemu" [06:19] s/dfid/did [06:20] !info qemu [06:20] qemu (source: qemu): fast processor emulator. In component universe, is optional. Version 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.2 (trusty), package size 163 kB, installed size 566 kB [06:20] packagename is qemu, so the command I gave you earlier should work [06:20] have to enable universe repos tho [06:21] ah, yes [06:21] that isn't automatic any more? [06:21] I don't recall having to do that [06:23] bipul: this may help: http://askubuntu.com/questions/138140/how-do-i-install-qemu [06:23] seems it is a bit fiddly to run [06:24] can you tell us what you are trying to do, that you need qemu? [06:24] valorie: Thank you so much, but i am following the valorie offical qemu git link in order to compile. [06:25] why on earth are you building it from source? [06:25] Actully I wanted to install Minix3 to understand how Basic functionalllity of Unix Work. As i am unable to install MIni3 on VirtualBox [06:25] oh, that sounds like fun [06:25] but still, why build qemu from source? [06:25] it is packaged [06:26] I am sorry it's not soure. [06:26] Yes. :p [06:26] that is a lot of work you don't need to do unless you are going to work on qemu [06:27] seriously, look at the askubuntu link and just follow that [06:28] unless you are going to hack on qemu [06:28] in which case, good on ya === z_ is now known as Guest22002 === Guest22002 is now known as z__ === z__ is now known as a-lister [08:28] I have an akonadi problem. Mails stopped arriving last week (IMAP) while I can see them just fine in other clients. I re-added the akonadi IMAP resource for the same server, but now the INBOX and everything under it remain completely empty. Yet there are no errors. [08:28] How to debug? [13:28] ya, upgraded, logs in :-< [13:28] you need a certain minimum version after it started using the web service [13:29] I need to restore my profile again :-< [13:31] I deleted it because usually, when skype says "Can't connect", it means "you'r HDD got full, I tried to access the mySQL db, failed, wrecked it, and I don't know how to let it restore itself" :-< [13:31] * Avihay shakes fist at Mircosol [13:35] also, who is the genius who thought that black on black is a good color scheme for entering text? seriously? === dakota is now known as dakotairene === dakotairene is now known as irenedakota === irenedakota is now known as dakota [16:13] do you keep the default color scheme settings, usually? I customized firefox a little, remapped the run command shortcut, and resized my panels a bit. Also installed whatever updates came in after the fresh install. I then rebooted and now I only get a cursor and wallpaper after logging in. [17:22] logging in as guest works fine [17:22] I''m not sure what process is failing to start or what setting I may have messed up, or where to look [17:24] and the terms i'm googling keeps pointing me toward the many people with video driver issues and i don't think that's me. [17:31] noobar123: If the guest account works the issue probably lies in your kde profile. [17:39] previously when my kde account failed it was due to using some setting in bleachbit which deleted something it shouldn't. [17:41] noobar123: From login screen, you can do crtl-alt-F1 and login with your username and pass to the console. From there: mv .kde old.kde and then: exit and alt-F7 to return to login screen. This will move all the KDE settings into old.kde directory and make a fresh one for .kde [17:52] hmm i've moved and deleted .kde and it hasn't changed, cursor on logging into user but guest works. I've carried my home partition from linuxmint to solydk to now kubuntu while always formatting /, is it time to reinstall and format that as well? [17:53] noobar123: Make a new user and see if the problem is there too. [17:53] HI how could I read the control file of debian package? I manually browsed the web directory path and its gone... [19:34] https://launchpad.net/~cybolic/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages because they don't publish for trusty. [19:35] They must have at one point because I had it in my sources prior to updates and I was able to get a clean apt-get without any error at one point [19:36] Hm, 2010 [19:39] hi guys [19:39] what 's the kernel version in kubuntu 14 04 [19:39] i cannot install debian , so, i have no other alternatives [19:39] because the kernel is too old and does not support my new intel wifi card [19:40] !info linux-image-generic [19:40] linux-image-generic (source: linux-meta): Generic Linux kernel image.
