mvo_seb128: I guess its ok to just upload http://paste.ubuntu.com/8213955/ ? or does this need to go through the jenkins merge parcour?09:26
seb128mvo_, dunno, I'm not part of the landing team (though you were?)09:26
seb128check with sil210009:26
seb128but I would say it's ok to upload, as long as you also commit to trunk/rtm/whatever serie is needed09:26
mvo_sil2100: is it ok to land packaging changes like http://paste.ubuntu.com/8213955/ directly in utopic or does this need to go through a formal landing ?09:27
mvo_seb128: thanks, I ask him. I want to make apt-get install ubuntu-sdk:$arch work :)09:27
mvo_eh, ubuntu-sdk-libs I guess09:28
* mvo_ is jetlaged09:28
xnoxmvo_: Guten Morgen! =)09:30
mvo_hey xnox09:30
xnoxmvo_: can you please push your apt repository =)))) ?09:38
sil2100mvo_: well, it's best to use the train, but you can push directly if only you make sure this release is then synced up in the bzr trunk and tagged with the version you released09:39
sil2100mvo_: ;)09:39
mvo_xnox: yes, its on my list once I got over the multi-arch stuff I am currently doing, sorry for letting you wait so long09:39
mvo_sil2100: thanks, the debian/control file says it will sync automatically so I will just trust that :)09:40
* mvo_ crosses fingers that the comment matches reality09:41
sil2100Uh? I didn't know we had anything like that!09:41
mvo_sil2100: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~indicator-applet-developers/indicator-messages/trunk.14.10/view/head:/debian/control#L19 <- hope it is still valid in the new world order09:42
seb128mvo_, better to commit yourself09:45
seb128rather than relying on other to clean up behind you09:45
xnoxmvo_: ack. well, just emailing /all/ the patches to the bug report, would help as well. It's alright =) in the mean time I've hacked up proxy-command to do simple check instead of PAC file checks.09:45
seb128mvo_, that comment basically means "the CI is going to error out for the next person trying to do a landing, because an archive upload is missing from trunk"09:45
seb128mvo_, which basically means "whoever hit the error is going to need to understand what the error is there and clean up for you"09:46
sil2100mvo_: yeah, so this is a standard message, I wouldn't trust it at all ;)09:46
mvo_seb128: bää, I don't like this - ok, I will prepare proper branches09:46
seb128mvo_, or just commit your archive upload to trunk09:46
seb128sil2100, did the CI stop erroring out on missing revisions?09:47
didrockssil2100: standard message that you don't trust?09:47
mvo_seb128: I'm not sure if I have the required permissions for that09:47
seb128mvo_, I think coredev has09:47
didrocksnot sure to understand you :)09:47
didrocksmvo_: you should, normally, it's all setup so that you have access to what's needed09:47
didrocksand yeah, the idea, if you want to upload yourself is that you just commit back to trunk yourself09:47
mvo_ok, I will see if that works09:48
didrocksor (at least, in my time), I took care that daily-release/CI Train errors out to not overwrite the archives as seb128 told09:48
didrocksafter what sil2100 is telling, not sure if that's been removed though09:48
didrocksmvo_: you can tag the release as well in trunk, to help CI Train, but it should be able to get it itself09:48
didrocks(even without the tag)09:48
didrocksif that's not been broken in between (but there was a test for it ;))09:49
* didrocks goes out for lunch, bbiab09:49
mvo_didrocks: thanks, so I will just commit to trunk then, enjoy lunch09:49
didrocksthanks!09:50
sil2100didrocks: that's what I meant - that I wouldn't trust anyone auto-syncing the change up for you in trunk10:13

tsdgeosok, i guess it's just a vlc bug with these hybrid kind of cards10:28

willcookeand it does10:29

willcookeso I suppose it does work, but not "just works" if you see what I mean10:29

dednicklarsu: ping11:23
larsudednick: hey11:24
larsu(please don't simply "ping")11:24
dednicklarsu: hey. i'm having some trouble with g_date_time_format in unity8. can't seem to use utf8 chars in unity8, but can in indicator-datetime. was hoping you would know why.11:25
larsudednick: not sure I understand. g_date_time_format() always produces a utf8 string11:26
larsuor do you mean what you pass into it?11:26
larsu(which should also be valid utf8)11:26
dednicklarsu: g_date_time_format(g_date_time_new_now_local(), "%a %d %b\u2003%H:%M") works in indicator-datetime, but not unity811:26
larsuooh, interesting11:26
larsuwhat's the error?11:26
dednickdoesn't seem to give one, just passes back null11:27
dednickoh. maybe need to log out warnings or something11:27
larsuit probably does log something11:27
dednicklarsu: hm. G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all doesn't give anything extra11:28
larsudednick: I'll have a look11:30
dednickoh. shit. that's weird11:30
larsuworks in python with gi..11:30
dednicki think it's some env var part of the make script that is causing it11:30
dednickrunning test by executable works :/11:30
larsuwoah11:31
larsuI can't think of a reason why this would be locale dependent11:31
dednicklarsu:  env LC_ALL=C11:31
larsuya, I figured11:31
dednickhm. weird. maybe it uses sprintf or something which doesnt support unicode under LC_ALL=C11:32
larsudednick: no, it uses g_locale_from_utf811:33
larsudednick: I don't have this problem from python11:33
* larsu checks C11:34
* xnox use C.UTF-8 ?!11:35
larsudednick: does unity8 call setlocale(3)?11:44
larsudednick: it ought to do something like setlocale(LC_ALL, "") to make it pick the locale set by env vars11:45
dednickSaviq: ^ ?11:45
Saviqlarsu, we're not doing anything special, no11:46
dednicklarsu: this is in tests. i think we use LC_ALL=C explicitly11:46
larsudednick: I don't think anyone picks that up if you don't call setlocale11:46
larsubut maybe qt is doing it?11:46
larsucan you try calling it like a pasted above, before the call to g_date_time_format()?11:47
dednicklarsu: will give it a try11:47
larsuand set the locale to C.UTF-8, like xnox suggested11:47
larsubecause, obviously11:47
dednicklarsu: does that actually exist? can't see it documented anywhere11:47
Saviqlarsu, yeah, Qt changes formatting based on LC_ALL env11:48
larsuSaviq: and glib does based on the C library. You need to call setlocal11:48
larsue11:48
larsuand it's what the indicator does, which is why it works there for dednick11:49
larsuI guess Qt just looks at the env itself11:49

rickspencer3willcooke, you inspired me, I am downloading the desktop-next image right now :)15:00
willcookerickspencer3, do you have one of those Inspiron laptops?  Their really cute.15:00
rickspencer3willcooke, I do. but I am going to try it on my Lenovo u310 touch15:01
willcookerickspencer3, there is a kbd input bug right now which stops you logging in to U1, so you can easily install packages15:01
willcookebut we're working on15:01
willcookeor rather, it's on the list15:01
rickspencer3willcooke, does that mean I can't install click packages until it's fixed?15:04
rickspencer3wondering about the word "easily"15:04
willcookerickspencer3, yeah15:06
willcookerickspencer3, you have to configure your U1 credentials by, for example, using a U7 session15:07
willcookeI haven't bothered15:07
willcookethere are a few packaged as apt so I just installed them15:07
willcookethe dialer for example (albeit a useless example :) )15:07
rickspencer3willcooke, does the installer support a dual boot install?15:07

didrocks* Hooked up + some fixes to get autopkgtests tests passing. It's running the small tests now. Tried to get the medium tests (docker ones) running. After multiple attemps, docker starts, but a permission issue inside the container stalls the tests. After spending some hours on it, put that aside for now (we'll have medium tests running daily anyway).15:42
didrocks* Fix coverage report to reflect reality + fixes in medium tests (certificates related) + some cleanups. Other deprecation (glib-related) fixes for utopic, and whole manual testing in trusty & utopic fresh vms.15:42

bregmaso, the OSK requires the ubuntu-keyboard[-*] package be installed, and the Maliit upstart job from ubuntu-touch-session be installed, some confiuguration done somwheres, and still it won't run because it tries to dlopen() the incorrect video drivers17:25
bregmasounds like a task for someone to do....17:26
Laneypingfest18:04
Laneyare these dependencies a big problem?18:04
seb128Laney, hey18:05
Laneyhiya18:05
seb128Laney, no, we sorted it out, the real issue was libthumbnailer bringing gst1.0 in process where gst0.10 is used by other bits, leading to symbols conflict and things not starting18:05
Laneyright okay, I doubted it would cause any problems18:06
ogra_Laney, not big enough to work on them during vacation18:06
seb128Laney, they tried to blame the gst update because timing was similar18:06
ogra_Laney, they are a problem for release and we need them gone ... but its surely not that urgent18:06
seb128it was the most likely candidate from a first look to the changes18:06
seb128Laney, how was debconf? are you still in the u.s or somewhere else for holidays?18:06
Laneyseb128: it was nice thanks, talked about transition tracker and gi and other things18:09
seb128nice18:09
seb128did you get buying for the gir-multiarch thing?18:09
Laneyyeah talked to ah, he didn't mind18:09
Laneyso that's in exp now18:09
Laneygoing to do a mass rebuild soon to see what breaks and then fix that18:10
Laneyand yeah, still in portland - staying with some friends who live a bit out to the east18:11
Laneytoday is chinese garden day18:11
Laneyalso found a climbing centre ;-)18:12

robert_ancellxnox, around?21:06
robert_ancellor TheMuso21:06
xnoxrobert_ancell: yes.21:14

robert_ancellxnox, https://code.launchpad.net/~robert-ancell/ubuntustudio-default-settings/lightdm-config-in-usr/+merge/23312421:15
robert_ancellIn particular, I had a question about the priority of your configuration21:15
xnoxrobert_ancell: i believe it should be same or higher, in practice it doesn't matter much as one (by default) only has one, but no the other theme.21:16
robert_ancellxnox, yeah, I generally set all the Ubuntu defaults to 50 and expect all the derivatives to use 6021:17
robert_ancellxnox, I'll update the branch if you agree21:17
xnoxrobert_ancell: i agree21:24
robert_ancellxnox, ok, branch updated21:25
robert_ancellIs there an Ubuntu package search tool? I want to find any other packages installing into /etc/lightdm21:26
attente_there's apt-file21:50
sarnoldpackages.ubuntu.com21:50
attente_:w21:53
=== _thumper_ is now known as thumper
robert_ancellI can never get packages.ubuntu.com to work properly. If I search for "/etc/lightdm" it returns nothing and "lightdm.conf.d" also returns nothing. "lightdm" returns some results but they are truncated22:42
robert_ancellI'm also not confident it is finding everything22:42
sarnoldrobert_ancell: it's tough; a lot of files are created by postinst scripts and they often go to lengths to avoid declaring the files as conffiles because changing those causes dpkg prompts during upgrades22:55
sarnoldrobert_ancell: I've thought before it'd be nice to start with a basic VM, snapshot all files, install a package, record new files / changed files, and then revert the VM and iterate...22:56
robert_ancellyeah, that would be nice :)22:56
sarnoldbut the complexity of such a beast would be .. daunting.22:56
sarnoldrobert_ancell: this thing can kind of help track down those postinst-based files: http://ubuntu-codesearch.surgut.co.uk/22:57
robert_ancellah, that finds lubuntu-default-settings doing the wrong thing22:58
