rsalvetirobert_ancell: getting bug 1364725 on krillin02:55
ubot5bug 1364725 in lightdm (Ubuntu) "Krillin fails to display spinner/unity8 after upgrade to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/136472502:56
rsalvetikrillin + ubuntu-touch from proposed02:56
robert_ancellrsalveti, got the lightdm.log after it occurs?02:56
rsalvetican easily get that for you, 1 sec02:56
rsalvetirobert_ancell: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1364725/comments/102:58
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1364725 in lightdm (Ubuntu) "Krillin fails to display spinner/unity8 after upgrade to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1" [High,New]02:58
robert_ancellhmm, that looks normal to me02:59
rsalvetithe main difference when comparing with the older one is:03:00
rsalveti[+2.00s] DEBUG: Seat: Switching to Mir session session-003:00
rsalveti[+2.00s] DEBUG: Activating login1 session /org/freedesktop/login1/session/c203:00
rsalvetiI don't get such lines03:00
rsalvetibut unity8 is running fine03:00
rsalvetilet me try getting a screenshot03:01
rsalvetino, screenshot is also all black03:01
robert_ancellRight. So it's like LightDM hasn't told u-s-c that that session is ready03:01
rsalvetialso added the log diff to the bug03:03
robert_ancellrsalveti, could you attach both logs as files? The diff is a bit confusing due to the timing03:04
rsalvetisure03:05
robert_ancellthe diff shows more information from the log than you pasted03:05
rsalvetiall attached03:07
robert_ancellrsalveti, could you also run lightdm --show-config on the device and paste that?03:07
rsalvetirobert_ancell: from 1.11.6 or 1.11.7?03:08
robert_ancell1.11.703:08
rsalvetior doesn't make any difference03:08
rsalvetisure03:08
robert_ancellit was only introduced then03:08
rsalvetirobert_ancell: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1364725/comments/703:08
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1364725 in lightdm (Ubuntu) "Krillin fails to display spinner/unity8 after upgrade to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1" [High,New]03:08
rsalvetirobert_ancell: this doesn't happen all the time though, sometimes unity8 shows up just fine03:09
robert_ancelloh, ok03:09
rsalvetimaybe a race03:09
rsalvetilet me try to get into a working state (harder than actually reproducing the bug)03:10
rsalvetirobert_ancell: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/183907934/lightdm.log with 1.11.7 from a working boot03:19
rsalvetiso yeah, didn't switch to mir session03:20
robert_ancelldefinitely a race of some sort then03:21
robert_ancellrsalveti, could you try lp:~robert-ancell/lightdm/unity-activate and see if that makes a difference?03:30
robert_ancellrsalveti, Also, looking at ~/.xsession-errors might give some clies03:32
robert_ancellclues03:32
rsalvetirobert_ancell: sure03:33
rsalvetinothing useful in ~/.xsession-errors03:45
rsalvetibuilding from your branch03:45
=== chihchun_afk is now known as chihchun
rsalvetirobert_ancell: rebooted more than 10 times, worked fine at every time03:58
robert_ancellrsalveti, cool04:01
robert_ancellrsalveti, do you have a log from a successful boot with that change? It was just a hunch that suggested that code might have broken but it really shouldn't work...04:07
rsalvetirobert_ancell: http://paste.ubuntu.com/8220528/04:08
robert_ancellah, so I was right. It's actually failed to find the logind session id which is a very bad thing (TM). That was exposing a bug that my branch fixed04:09
robert_ancellI'm working on a proper fix now04:09
rsalvetiawesome04:10
robert_ancellrsalveti, could you try lp:~robert-ancell/lightdm/logind-session-id-env-var and see if that works04:35
robert_ancellThis is the good fix04:35
rsalvetirobert_ancell: sure04:36
* robert_ancell hates the feeling when you'd seen some flaky code at some point in the past and not bothered to fix it then it comes to bite you in the butt later on...04:49
rsalvetirobert_ancell: yeah, seems fine as well04:57
rsalvetiunable to reproduce the issue04:57
robert_ancellrsalveti, ok, cool. I'll ship that then04:57
rsalvetirobert_ancell: awesome, thanks04:57
robert_ancellHave you got a log so I can double check?04:57
rsalvetirobert_ancell: http://paste.ubuntu.com/8220784/04:58
robert_ancellthat looks better04:58
robert_ancellrsalveti, brb, just smoke testing05:45
robert_ancellrsalveti, ok, all good. Uploaded as 1.11.8-0ubuntu105:46
* robert_ancell -> dinner05:46
rsalvetirobert_ancell: awesome, thanks!05:46
dufluRAOF: Oh, the problem with SIGPIPE happens with SIGHUP too. It's just some pre-existing unreliability in the test framework - https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/136477206:23
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1364772 in Mir "[regression] acceptance tests fails in ServerDisconnect.causes_client_to_terminate_by_default" [Medium,Triaged]06:23
dufluSo we could have used SIGPIPE. Need to fix the test infrastructure tho06:23
RAOFWell, sigPIIIIIIIIIIIPE is up for review :)06:26
dufluRAOF: I know. Haven't got around to it yet06:29
RAOFThat's fine; it's got a prerequisite branch anyway :)06:33

Saviqhmm guys how do you think would that be possible:10:26
Saviqunity-system-compositor: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libmirserver.so.24: undefined symbol:10:26
Saviq_ZTIN7android7RefBaseE10:26
Saviqseems libmircommon1:armhf got upgraded as I was installing unity8-autopilot10:26
Saviq(that's RTM btw)10:26
Saviqbut that must've not pulled in new mirserver or so10:28
ogra_new mir isnt in rtm yet10:28
ogra_it landed in 218 in devel-proposed but didnt migrate over yet10:29
Saviqhttp://pastebin.ubuntu.com/8222494/10:29
Saviqogra_, well, yeah, but package deps should not have allowed me to get into that state10:29
Saviqogra_, should force upgrades where required10:29
ogra_then you need a versioned dep10:30
Saviqogra_, as now I ended up with a mix of mir 0.6.1 and 0.7.010:30
ogra_defining a minimal version in unity10:30
Saviqogra_, it's not that, unity doesn't even depend on mir directly10:30
ogra_well, it also seems like the new packages migrated but arent in the image10:31
ogra_(new rtm image is currently building, so i guess that will have it)10:31
Saviqogra_, sure, still ;)10:31
Saviqogra_, http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/8222504/10:31
ogra_right, there is some dependency screw up somewhere10:32
SaviqI only asked apt to install unity8-autopilot - that pulled in libmircommon1 0.7.0, that should've pulled others with it, as there seems to have been an ABI break10:32
Saviqbecause u-s-c doesn't start10:32
Saviqcomplaining about missing symbols10:32
ogra_right10:33
Saviq*something* should've forced upgrades of the whole of mir I'd say10:33
ogra_file a bug so a dep gets added10:33
Saviqyeah, will do, just wanted some feedback from the guys here10:33
anpokhmm10:34
anpokwhy does qtmir-plugin only depend on mircommon?10:34
anpoki would have thought anything of qtmir needs mirserver10:35
anpokis qtmir dloading mir?10:36
anpokhm ok qtdeclarative5-qtmir-plugin only pulls in mircommon while qtmir-android adds mirserver..10:37
Saviqbug #136489010:38
ubot5bug 1364890 in mir (Ubuntu) "Some dependency or missed SONAME bump causes missing symbols" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/136489010:38
greybackanpok: qtmir-{android,desktop} needs mirserver, as that is the code which creates a mir server. qtdeclarative5-qtmir-plugin just allows Qt/QML to interact with the mir server, so needs some of the common mir stuff (mostly enums I think)11:16

anpokhm I was curious what was happening there: https://code.launchpad.net/~raof/mir/dont-kill-the-poor-clients/+merge/232971/comments/568627 but I cannot reproduce locally14:34
