david_in_perthHi. I seem to have found a minor UI bug with the Distribution Upgrade tool upgrading from Saucy to Trusty. I'm not sure if I should report it, given that Saucy is no longer supported (it might still need fixing for future versions though).04:51
david_in_perthShort version: The "Do you want to start the upgrade?" window - the one that lists all the removed/new/upgraded packages - isn't recognised as a window by some parts of the UI; when I used the "show desktop" feature of the Alt+Tab menu, I couldn't get back to it and I had to restart the Distribution Upgrade tool04:58
Logan_david_in_perth: no longer supported, so there's no point to reporting it05:34
Logan_unless you can reproduce it going from Trusty to Utopic05:35
david_in_perthYeah, I suspected as much. I could give it a go in a VM, but I'm not sure I have the time. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind.05:36
Logan_bdmurray: might want to check that out ^05:38
david_in_perthLogan_ / bdmurray: I just signed in on my phone as DavidOnNexus4 (logging out of this client before starting upgrade).06:43
DavidOnNexus4...let me know if you have any further questions.06:44
tgrundlehi, i have been checking out utopic and every so often the system freezes to the point i have to do a hard shutdown, which package should i report this against?17:39
penguin42hmm that's a little hard - when you say freezes, how hard a freeze?  e.g. does the mouse cursor still move? Does it still ping? Does capslock still work?17:41
tgrundleno mouse, no ping, no ssh, no capslock17:41
penguin42I'd file it against the kernel17:42
tgrundlenothing in the logs, last log to write is /var/log/upstart/thermald17:42
tgrundlei did stop thermald and it seemed to prevent the hangs17:43
penguin42hmm, do you think it's either overheating or some thermal control going wrong?  I heard there's some changes in utopic?17:43
tgrundlei think so, i had issues in the past with the kernel not liking my BIOS17:44
penguin42are you on the latest version?17:44
tgrundlei have the latest BIOS17:44
tgrundlei did try running the thermald in debug, but there was nothing unusual in the log17:45
penguin42hmm either thermald or the kernel then17:45
penguin42tgrundle: I suggest filing against thermald since you've tracked it down, and I assume the guys who deal with thermald know what stuff is kernel related and probably have more experience with dealing with this type of issue17:46
tgrundlepenguin42: ok, thanks17:47
penguin42tgrundle: Ideally run ubuntu-bug thermald    straight after a reboot after it failed17:49
tgrundlepenguin42: ok, will try that next time17:51
