[05:22] Morning everyone [05:27] hi bduk Spekko nuvolari Squirm inetpro and others [06:22] 'lo all [06:22] hi ThatGraemeGuy [06:25] more oom Kilos [06:25] oh hi ThatGraemeGuy, Xethron, bduk [07:04] morning [07:28] oh hi Squirm [08:07] ai! [08:07] good mornings [08:09] hi there inetpro [08:09] what did you break? [08:16] oh hi inetpro [08:17] morning superfly [08:59] hi Kilos, nuvolari, inetpro [09:11] 'lo [09:28] oh hi superfly [09:42] hi magespawn ston [09:42] oi [09:42] howdy Kilos [09:56] off and on again so fast i do not even get disconnected [09:57] lol [10:11] ha not that time [10:11] ahh well [10:12] now that has been happening off and on for the past two months [10:12] 3 months sorry [10:12] your isp's fault? [10:12] or net in general [10:17] this looks to be the telkom hard line [14:22] Squirm, ping [14:25] # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8) [14:25] # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN [14:25] nameserver 127.0.1.1 [14:25] i tried adding 8.8.8.8 [14:26] how did you get me to sort it last time [14:27] thats the ip i see in ifconfig and if i dont get into the 192.168.0.254 range i cant get into my router [14:28] rename and create new? [14:32] i have googled and on links info crashed my kde so now im on unity to sort the prob before messing on kde again [14:37] I'd probably mess with /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/000resolvconf to use the nameservers I want [14:38] i just want to change my ip addy Trixar_za [14:38] but it shows that 127.0.1.1 [14:39] the nameserver thing Squirm gave me a workaround on 12.04 and i think the same thing will work here whatever it was we did [14:39] So does mine - probably because it should be handled by NetworkManager [14:40] i changed it in network manager to manual and by ipv4 made it 192.168.1.0 [14:41] but ifconfig keeps the 127 one [14:41] grrr [14:50] if i remember right he did echo something [14:53] sudo su; echo "nameserver 192.168.0.254" > /etc/resolv.conf; exit [14:53] ? [14:53] whew i dunno Trixar_za it was 2 years ago [14:53] Off the top of my head [14:54] Yeah, that doesn't work [14:54] what does echo do? [14:55] sudo su makes you root [14:55] yes [14:55] i wonder if i try edit it as root [14:55] the next part writes nameserver 192.168.0.254 in the /etc/resolv.conf file and the exit exits root [14:55] But you can't do it like I did it :P [14:55] is sudo su and sudo -i the same thing [14:56] Looks like it [14:56] Squirm, worked it out there at work because he had to do it there [14:59] lets hope tonight isnt party night for Squirm [14:59] Probably not [15:00] ping him dizzy [15:13] you see Trixar_za my router goes online with 3g but i have to be able to get in to tell it to allow the server to go online [15:13] Which is always fun to try figuring out hey [15:14] haha if you can get in ya [15:14] but them routers also are a challenge [15:37] a whole book of reading to not understand anyway [15:41] home time [15:41] \o/ [15:45] hehe [15:45] so late [15:46] dont geek types knock off at 4 bells [16:02] or is that clerical staff im thinking of [16:20] Maaz, seen superhuman [16:20] Kilos: superhuman was last seen 4 months, 6 days, 7 hours, 12 minutes and 19 seconds ago in #ubuntu-za on freenode [2014-05-07 02:08:37 PDT], and has been offline on freenode since 2014-05-07 02:12:49 PDT [16:21] sjoe [17:22] oi [17:55] io [17:58] hows things by you Xethron ? [17:59] Good and there? [18:00] good here too ty, summer coming fast [18:03] Jup [18:04] Very fast [18:04] * Kilos smiles again after months of shivvering [18:08] hi :p [18:08] smile: By the way, Kilos on freenode told me "tell smile I need to talk to you" 1 day, 1 hour, 28 minutes and 36 seconds ago [18:08] hi smile [18:08] hi :D [18:09] You need to talk to me :p [18:09] why didnt you answer yestrerday man [18:09] so idea? :p maybe I left my computer open? [18:09] * no idea [18:33] good evening [18:33] Maaz: coffee on [18:33] * Maaz flips the salt-timer [18:33] for those that haven't seen it already: http://www.fsf.org/news/free-software-foundation-statement-on-the-new-iphone-apple-pay-and-apple-watch [18:34] * tumbleweed assumes he can predict everything it'll say [18:36] hi tumbleweed [18:36] * tumbleweed waves [18:37] ohi tumbleweed [18:37] Coffee's ready for charl! [18:37] Maaz: thanks [18:37] charl: Okay :-) [18:38] bye :) [18:38] cheers smile [18:39] he's too quick for me [18:40] lol [18:45] hi tumbleweed! [18:46] hi all [18:49] good evening [18:49] hi magespawn [19:10] how things tonight Kilos? [19:10] ok ty magespawn and you? [19:10] im waiting for Squirm to arrive [19:11] need some command or workjaround from him [19:12] all good Kilos [19:12] what command or work around? [19:44] oh my word :-/ my internet where I stay is utter cow poop [19:45] Vodacom is dancing between edge, gprs, HSDPA and 3G. 8ta is edge only, Afrihost/MTN seems best so far, Provided wifi has some weird filters so apt-get won't do nothing [19:45] I'm stuck in the middle. [20:02] hey nuvolari, sounds like fun [20:04] i have found that modems and mifi devices will choose the strongest signal even if it is not the fastest, especially when set in auto mode [20:05] if you change them to 3G/HSDPA mode only that might work [20:14] it is probably better to determine the strongest by seeing what the network prefers and then setting that as your main setting (ie. 3G only). [20:35] hehe nuvolari are you in a block of flats or where are you staying [20:35] as in what is between you and the nearest cell tower [20:38] looks like maybe it has dropped him completely [20:40] oi [20:41] must be from work he shows online here then [20:41] or he is sleeping [20:42] whew kinda late hey [20:43] Joe_knock your connection here is better tonight hey [20:43] hehe [20:43] Kilos: The error seems to be that I think freenode was flooding me with messages before I could receive them, and then I was getting thrown off. [20:45] hmm... [20:46] are you on ubuntu? [20:46] once before someone here had something running that oinged freenode all the time so they banned him [20:47] i think it pinged them all the time [20:47] might have been private user [20:52] good night all [20:52] night magespawn [20:52] sleep tight [20:54] night all. sleep tight [21:43] Lalalala Gn
