knomepleia2, ochosi: going to sleep (3am). release announcement not published because the release is not out yet. do that if you get back before me and after the release is done. cheers!00:09
knome^ and others feel free to ping elfy about that.00:10
skellatpleia2: Are the images posted here considered "real" yet?  See: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/utopic/beta-2/02:20
Unit193https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-announce/2014-September/thread.html will link to it.02:24
* bluesabre tries to get a handle on possible uploads for trusty/utopic... http://paste.ubuntu.com/8429756/02:35
Noskcajbluesabre, explain02:35
bluesabrethat paste shows different package versions in trusty/utopic/debian02:36
Noskcajok02:36
Unit193Explain, explain, explain!02:36
Unit193:D02:36
bluesabremost of the xfce things will probably roll back from utopic to trusty with MRe, and menulibre/mugshot02:37
bluesabrewondering, do we want the updated abiword for utopic?02:37
Unit193Meh.02:37
bluesabregmusicbrowser seems like a nice one02:37
NoskcajWould we be able to get it to official archives though?02:38
bluesabrethese are all things in our packageset02:39
Unit193gmb for utopic or trusty.02:39
Unit193s/./?/02:39
bluesabreprobably just utopic02:39
* bluesabre writes scripts when he's bored02:41
Unit193"add App Indicator plugin"  Shiny.02:43
Unit193bluesabre: Any good ones?02:43
bluesabreprobably not02:44
bluesabrethere is probably a utility that already does most of what I do better02:44
bluesabre:D02:44
bluesabreI'll probably work on the utopic -> trusty MRe's this weekend, maybe merge a few things like abiword and gmb to utopic too02:46
bluesabrewant to take bets for beta2 actually being released on 9/25 anywhere in the world?02:46
bluesabre:)02:47
Unit193-release indicates it was.02:49
Noskcajbluesabre, Let me know if there's anything ou want me to help with, i'm currently just working on gnome 3.14 stuff02:49
Unit193https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-announce/2014-September/000190.html02:50
bluesabreah, missed that03:01
pleia2skellat: wasn't when you asked, is now03:43
skellat pleia2: Okay, I fixed the URL on the wiki to point to that back then03:46
skellatSo if the balloon goes up on our side, the balloon goes up on our side03:46
Unit193bluesabre: You have packageset, the only thing with gmb you may want to be aware of: libgnome2-wnck-perl and libgtk2-appindicator-perl are extra things needed for all of the plugins to work, but they aren't really needed.  The second is for the appindicator, but with the mpris/soundmenu integration, it's a bit pointless IMO.04:38
elfymorning 07:17
elfythanks whoever published both07:17
elfyone07:17
ochosimorning09:30
ochosi(late morning)09:30
ochosithanks for publishing the release-related announcements!09:31
elfyhi ochosi 09:50
ochosihey elfy 09:50
bluesabreUnit193: cool... I see that it fails gracefully when those packages are missing... what would be your suggestion if I pull it into utopic?11:07
ochosihey bluesabre 11:08
bluesabreelfy: possible no dailies tonight, 07:06 <infinity> cjwatson: In that case, please don't re-enable dailies, I'll get to testing today/tomorrow.11:09
bluesabrehey ochosi11:09
elfybluesabre: ty11:10
ochosireason is the lightdm bug?11:10
bluesabrethey broke booting on ppc64el11:10
ochosioh11:10
bluesabredoesn't affect us, but its all or nothing probably11:10
ochosithanks for the nice -settings fixes, bluesabre 11:11
ochosiyou've really been extremely productive this cycle11:11
bluesabre:)11:12
ochosibtw, do we already have an overview over what bugs still need fixing? or were you suggesting that more generally, i.e. not only in terms of xubuntu11:12
elfybluesabre: oh lol - I assumed that to be something in -release from last night - just seen it :)11:12
bluesabrejust kind of generally.  there's probably several reports that have already been fixed, but not closed11:13
bluesabrelike this one, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-artwork/+bug/131816211:13
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1318162 in xubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu) "dialog-ok-apply icon missing from several subdirectories" [Undecided,Fix committed]11:13
ochosihmright11:13
ochosithat should be fix released i guess, since i added that a long time ago already11:14
bluesabreor any easy fixes for some of our other projects, so yeah, just in general bug cleanup11:14
ochosisounds like a good plan11:16
ochosistill haven't been able to properly check out ll1.5 and the greeter brnach11:16
ochosibranch11:16
bluesabresame here11:16
bluesabregoing to test the new fix for the greeter this weekend11:17
bluesabreand then roll it in, because it works well, just looked a little funny11:17
ochosithat means all-gtk3 then11:17
lderan:P11:17
ochosii guess it doesn't use releavers or anything yet?11:18
bluesabreit uses GtkOverlay11:18
bluesabrewe have 1.9 in utopic, which is already all-gtk311:18
ochosiright, so transparency now works without the cairo stuff?11:18
bluesabreI believe so11:18
* bluesabre is no longer the primary developer for -greeter11:19
* ochosi neither11:19
ochosii've been out of touch with the greeter code for a while and it has really grown and changed significantly11:21
ochosiguess it'd take me a bit to get back in11:21
bluesabrehttps://code.launchpad.net/~lightdm-gtk-greeter-team/lightdm-gtk-greeter/one-window-layout/+merge/23364411:22
bluesabresubwindow_draw has been removed, so that might be a good indicator11:22
ochosiyup, i was just browsing through that :)11:23
bluesabreI'll experiment with it, set the window to 50% alpha or something and see what happens11:23
ochosiyup, that sounds like a good idea11:24
ochosibtw, what about finishing the gsettings patch for ll?11:24
bluesabreyeah, need to do that11:24
bluesabreshould only take around an hour11:24
ochosii mean from what i can tell there are no really critical bugs around in most projects we work/ed on, some are waiting for features though11:24
bluesabreI'll try to get that done this weekend11:24
ochosithat'd be great11:25
ochosithen we can finally chop down lls to something with reasonable code and no more desktop file writing :)11:25
bluesabreindeed11:25
ochosicould even ship it with light-locker then11:25
ochosiif it's a build option, it wouldn't matter so much that it's python11:26
bluesabreyeah11:26
bluesabrethat sounds good11:26
bluesabrealrighty, I'm getting hungry, time to go start my day11:27
bluesabreI'll be around most of the weekend, bbl11:27
ochosiokeydokey!11:27
ochosienjoy breakfast and the rest of the day then11:27
ochosibluesabre: btw, another -settings bug/patch for us: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1118811:27
ubottubugzilla.xfce.org bug 11188 in Xfsettingsd ""Unknown option --display" and xfsettingsd doesn't start on session login." [Normal,New]11:27
xubuntu51wJust DL's the 14.10B2.  When did the highlights/selection bar becme pink?17:01
knomexubuntu51w, in 14.10b2.17:01
xubuntu51w:) By design?17:02
knomedid you read the release announcement?17:02
xubuntu51wactually, no (mea culpa)17:03
knomedoing that usually helps with the "is this for real" -moments17:03
knomeyes, it's by design to celebrate the "unicorn" release and to demonstrate the customizability.17:03
Unit193bluesabre: I was actually leaning towards "Suggests", but was going to leave it up to you, just making you aware of it.17:05
brainwashthe skel stuff is only copied once when a new account has been created, right?17:10
brainwashsome user installs ubuntu and then adds xubuntu-desktop. this way etc/skel/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css won't be copied and he ends up with the pink highlight only being applied tp gtk2 apps17:14
brainwashfurthermore, the other way around the pink highlight will be visible in unity for gtk3 apps17:16
brainwashthis appears to be messy17:16
knomebrainwash, congrats.17:17
brainwashwhat did I win?17:18
brainwashat least there is a note on how to revert the change :)17:18
knomeyou just won the sherlock holmes badge of the month.17:19
brainwashthanks17:22
Unit193Made sure gtk-theme-config could easily use the reset button.17:25
brainwashit's not a problem, just a minor annoyance17:26
brainwashespecially if you don't know about gtk-theme-config17:26
knomebrainwash, is there something that isn't a minor annoyance if you don't know a tool that does the task? no.17:29
knomeseriously, we should learn to relax a bit.17:29
knomeif we can't make a nice joke about unicorns, what is all this work for then?17:29
brainwashwhy not pink nuance in the wallpaper then?17:30
knomei thought we were having fun doing this and allowing ourselves some creativity space.17:30
brainwash:D17:30
knomethere is a pink nuance in the wallpaper17:30
knomewe just didn't want to make it all pink, because that would have been a bit over the top17:30
knomeultimately, we wanted the default installation to still be usable17:30
elfyobviously going to be a fine release if all people have to worry about is pink17:31
knomethat.17:31
brainwashI'm not worried about color changes, but the inconsistency which I've pointed out17:32
knomethere will always be inconsistencies17:33
knomeyou've just accustomed to too good.17:34
knomethat only shows how much work has gone to make xubuntu actually really consistent17:34
Unit193Nothing wrong with pointing out where it isn't.17:34
knomesure.17:35
knomewe'll go back to the old blues in 15.04 anyway17:35
brainwashUnit193: could the package version of "xfce4" be incremented to 4.11?19:09
brainwashto reflect the fact that most packages are now from Xfce 4.1119:09
knomedoes that really matter, and is that really the place we should communicate that?19:10
brainwashthat's why I'm asking him19:11
brainwashchanging the version shouldn't break anything19:13
Unit193You technically could, but as it's a deps package with >= 4.10 type of deps, it's native to Debian, and no 4.11 in experimental I wouldn't really.19:14
brainwashok, then it will be changed to 4.12 once the new stable release is ready :)19:17
Unit193(http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-xfce/desktop/trunk/xfce4/debian/control?view=markup)19:17
Unit193Tends to only follow stable releases, 4.8 to 4.10, yeah19:17
brainwash4.11 looks like a pseudo stable release19:18
brainwasheven shipped in a ubuntu lts release19:18
Unit193Heh, considering https://wiki.xfce.org/releng/4.12/roadmap/critical-bugs ?19:20
brainwashbugs everywhere =S19:21
brainwashso, changing the deps to >= 4.11 should be possible in utopic, but that won't let users install xfce 4.10 components without losing the meta package19:22
brainwashI understand that this change has to be made by the debian maintainer19:23
Unit193forestpiskie: Hey, you don't have any problems with /tmp if you leave the computer on for a day or more, right?20:17
=== davmor2_ is now known as davmor2
