guest1877hi..  i have a computer with lubuntu 14.04 on it, and for some reason it keeps crashing..  that is to say, it gets slow, and then the mouse cursor arrow gets stuck in one place on the screen, and the mouse is able to be moved around but the arrow is in one place18:49
wxlguest1877: what machine? what's running? if you look at the task manager, what's eating up your memory and/or cpu?18:51
wxlguest1877: also check to see what your disk space is like.18:52
guest1877wxl, thanks18:54
guest1877i will check that next18:54
guest1877it tends to happen when i am using the web browser18:55
wxlguest1877: which browser? and what resource does it affect/18:55
* genii guesses Firefox+Flash18:56
wxlprobably :)18:56
guest1877it has happenned both with firefox and chrome18:57
wxlsome memory might fix up the issue18:57
wxlhow much ram you have?18:57
guest1877it first happened when i went to my routers page in firefox18:57
guest18771gb ram18:57
wxlthat should be a fairly decent amount. are you running anything else?18:57
guest1877wxl, what do you mean?19:11
guest1877program wise?19:12
wxlguest1877: what other programs are running?19:12
guest1877oh ok...  well, the problem first happened after a fresh install on lubuntu-14.04.  i just openned firefox up and went to my router's ip, and it happenned.  i decided to re download the iso and i made a new live usb, and did another fresh install...19:14
guest1877after which, it started happenning again, but this time i have running cairo dock, and using google chrome as the browser..19:14
guest1877i will go on there and try to re create the problem19:14
guest1877is there a way that i can give you the output?19:14
wxl!pastebin | guest187719:16
ubottuguest1877: For posting multi-line texts into the channel, please use http://paste.ubuntu.com | To post !screenshots use http://imgur.com/ !pastebinit to paste directly from command line | Make sure you give us the URL for your paste - see also the channel topic.19:16
guest1877wxl, i meant, how can i get the output, so i can give you the paste19:16
wxlguest1877: just provide the link here after pastebining it19:19
guest1877wxl, that is not what i mean...  what i am asking is, how can i obtain the output19:54
guest1877will dmesg suffice?19:54
guest1877i want to be able to have in text what happenned so that you or someone who knows more about this stuff can help me fix it and maybe tell me why its happenning19:55
wxlguest1877: syslog and dmesg is good if there are errors, but my guess is you're having resources depleted19:55
wxlyou can try ps aux | head -1; ps aux | sort -rn +2 | head -10 and ps aux | head -1; ps aux | sort -rn +3 | head19:55
acecipherHi, how can I get a monitor configuration that doesn't mirror my screen on all my displays?22:32
silverlionacecipher, install arandr and put the screens next to each other ;) then you exit clone mode22:33
acecipherAh, arnandr is the module. Cool22:34
wxlsilverlion: will it work without arandr?22:34
acecipherAnd the three are all next to one another. If only the middle one was shorter xP22:34
wxllike could you use xrandr itself?22:34
acecipherlxrandr doesn't have any options for it22:36
acecipherHmmm now my vga isn't showing up.22:44
acecipherOr like, it says the monitor is active22:45
acecipherOkay so arandr shuts down my VGA for some reason whenever I apply things.22:58
acecipherIt still shows up as an active monitor in xrandr though.22:58
acecipherHmmmm23:04
acecipherThey all have to be the same size vertically it seems23:05
acecipherWhich os... bleh23:05
acecipherBut two screens works without the VGA at full sizes.23:05
acecipherOr well, without either VGA or DVI.23:06
acecipherWell I have it working now.~23:07
