bluesabrehappy weekend everyone :)12:39
elfyhey bluesabre - just rebooting, but earlier I did a bit of fiddling with that QA pad from yesterday - big lump at the bottom - you figure quite a bit in it ;)12:40
elfybrb12:40
bluesabreoh boy12:40
knomeelfy, commented12:46
elfysaw12:46
knomesorry for shouting the same thing over and over, but i think there's some potential there we haven't used to its full capacity12:46
knomebecause i can easily commit to using a PPA on my production machine since i know that if it miserably fails at a critical moment, i can just turn it off to get on with my work12:47
elfytbh some/many ordinary users can't risk production machine either - hence " in some way "12:47
knomeyes, but it's evident that using a staging PPA isn't really the same as running the dev version :)12:48
elfybut my basic assumption is that if someone is 'developing' foo for bar - then they must be looking at how it looks in bar - or guessing :p12:48
knomeyep12:48
knomethat's true12:48
knomethat sounds more like a (given) process requirement for developers12:48
elfybut yes I totally agree that we could do more with the PPA idea we started to look at earlier in this cycle12:49
knomebut that only covers some of the team, not all of us are actually developing stuff (where it actually matters what the version is)12:49
elfyI am still completely confused as to which ones are which - so I just don't12:49
knomeeg. working on the docs definitely does not require running the dev version :D12:49
elfyknome: yea I know12:50
elfyI haven't said "Assumption being that (at least some of) xubuntu-team is using the dev version during the dev cycle."12:50
knomebluesabre, when are you going to land the updated PPA descriptions?12:50
bluesabreI thought I did...12:51
knomelooks like you didn't12:51
knome:)12:51
bluesabrewoops12:51
elfyI'd at least hope that people are looking at what they're putting their name too in vm at some point12:51
bluesabrehave the link to the pad?12:51
knomebluesabre, no, but i can dig it up :P12:51
bluesabreI can dig it up too :)12:51
elfyhttp://pad.ubuntu.com/vQ8LL4MVaW12:51
* elfy did dig it up :p12:51
bluesabrelightning12:51
elfybluesabre: lol - more likely that I got so lost with pads - I bookmark them and give them sensible names :)12:52
knomeyep12:52
knomethat's why you should give them sensible names when creating them :P12:52
elfy:)12:53
* bluesabre doesn't know how to rename a pad12:53
knomebluesabre, you don't rename12:53
knomebluesabre, just go to http://pad.ubuntu.com/new-pad-name12:53
knomeand it asks if you want to create that12:53
bluesabredidn't know that12:53
bluesabrenow I do12:53
bluesabre:)12:53
knomegood12:53
elfyhttp://pad.ubuntu.com/callmewhatyouwill12:53
knomeelfy, waayy too slow :P12:53
elfywell - just letting people catch up with the lightning :D12:54
knomeheh12:54
bluesabreupdated12:55
knomegreat12:55
* knome considers if we should add those descriptions to the processses wiki page too12:55
elfywell - it would be nice to try and tie all these ends together 12:56
knomeyep12:56
knomeas it is, there's no official/final blessing that this is the way we intend to use these PPA's12:56
knomebut unofficially, that's how they have been used12:56
bluesabrehey ochosi13:43
elfygot sidetracked doing forumy things13:44
elfyI think perhaps the PPAs and how we're going to use them could be documented 13:45
knomebluesabre, merge done13:45
bluesabrethanks knome13:45
ochosihey bluesabre 13:51
elfyhi ochosi 13:52
ochosihey elfy 13:52

bluesabrehey sidi!13:55
sidiolli_, knome told me you were a mir dev? mind if i ask you how you guys are planning to do security on privileged interfaces in mir?13:56
ochosibluesabre: not too much, just took an hour to clean my ibm model m keyboard14:07
ochosiyuck, keyboard can become really disgusting14:07
bluesabreew14:08
bluesabreanybody still running trusty?14:08
bluesabreneed SRU verification, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mugshot/+bug/137480214:08
ubottuUbuntu bug 1374802 in mugshot (Ubuntu Trusty) "[SRU] Mugshot 0.2.5 for Trusty" [Undecided,Fix committed]14:08
jjfrv8bluesabre, verified ^14:22
bluesabrejjfrv8: you get a cookie.14:22
bluesabre:D14:22
jjfrv8:)14:22
bluesabrebrainwash_: patches updated here: https://launchpad.net/~bluesabre/+archive/ubuntu/lp132056016:29
bluesabrexfswitch-plugin and xfce4-panel now support dm-tool or gdmflexiserver16:29
bluesabrewith a preference for dm-tool16:29
bluesabrewhisker and xscreensaver are significantly more difficult to support both16:30
bluesabreUnit193 too ^16:30
Unit193You looked into it, good enough for me.18:28
Noskcajbluesabre, Were you preparing the xfce4-weather-plugin SRU or should i?19:08
bluesabreNoskcaj: still around?19:55
Noskcajyeah19:55
bluesabreI can go ahead and do it now for trusty19:55
Noskcajty19:55
bluesabrewe'll have to do it for precise too, will try to also get to that19:56
bluesabrehm, precise might not actually need it, uses a different api20:44
* bluesabre downloads precise image20:44
skellatbluesabre: Make sure you close out the bug that opened up earlier for Trusty on the weather plugin20:44
bluesabreskellat, a new one?20:45
bluesabrechecking20:45
skellatYeah, it was a bug today20:45
bluesabreah20:45
bluesabremarking as a dupe20:46
* skellat is literally and figuratively "cleaning house"20:46
bluesabre:)20:46
* bluesabre just finished eating 1 lb of pineapple20:47
skellatWhat are we looking at for QA changes going forward?20:49
knomeskellat, getting more tests and more out of the testing we do.20:49
skellatOptimizing our allocation and expediture of human capital then?20:50
bluesabremostly, still not convinced that Unit193 is not a well-designed bot20:51
skellatOkay20:52
Unit193Try harder.20:52
skellatI'm low on non-production non-ARM hardware20:52
* bluesabre notes that skellat can test builds on ARM20:53
skellatI don't think Alan Bell ever got that archive recompilation started for Raspberry Pi, though.  That and OMAP stuff like the BeagleBoard-xM went EOL in favor of the Sitara processor in the BeagleBone Black.20:54
skellat14.10 has been working surprisingly well on my amd64 laptop20:54
drchuh..known problem with an image file and the default app?  New 14.10 install, jpg's start opening with Firefox...I changed default to imagemagick (just to test), now can't change the default.  Even though the "Open With" says Restretto, double clicking continues to open with Imagemagick.23:28
