[07:10] cremora minora [07:25] * Kilos explores the panel options on kde whew so many things [07:26] can even give dolphin root privileges [07:31] latest Kubuntu Kilos? [07:31] Hello [07:31] late beta? [07:31] hi jaysen bope 14.04 [07:32] nope [07:32] ah k. .. and its nice and shiny? It's been so long since i tried kde [07:32] have you been here before jaysen ? [07:32] if not welcome to ubuntu-za [07:33] a while back . but not regularly. [07:33] thanks Kilos [07:33] make this a regular channel man [07:34] what do you use? [07:34] ok. I'm planning on falling back into to using irc [07:34] but I think I told you the exact same thing 2-4 years ago (: [07:34] ive been a gnome person but unity is a bit painful so been trying kde for about a month [07:35] haha you naughty [07:35] ubuntu / fed on desktop. osx on this laptop [07:35] sjoe osx is mac? [07:36] unfortunately yes [07:36] * jaysen hangs head in shame [07:36] haha even the fly is using one so dont worry [07:37] but i'm thinking that my next lappie is going to be linux. [07:37] he needs to make software that works on them too so also had no choice [07:37] we'll see [07:37] Great excuse - I'm going to start using that ! [07:38] * jaysen reaches for xamarin installer [07:38] lol [07:38] no man he does church stuff iirc [07:38] hi gremble [07:38] some open thing [07:39] Ah, k [07:41] btw, do you know which irc client he prefers on the mac [07:41] im not sure but he uses quassel on everything else [07:42] colloquoy is crashing, and so fell back onto adium for now. but i'm not sure [07:42] ok. will look around [07:42] http://www.cubrid.org/blog/cubrid-appstools/three-best-irc-clients-for-mac-i-am-aware-of/ [07:43] jaysen http://quassel-irc.org/node/42 [07:43] Thanks Kilos. As helpful as ever [07:43] Maaz google irc for mac [07:43] Kilos: "Colloquy: IRC, SILC & ICB Client" http://colloquy.info/ :: "LimeChat: IRC Client for Mac" http://limechat.net/mac/ :: "IRCHelp.org — Mac IRC Clients" http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/clients/mac/ :: "Three Best IRC Clients for Mac I am aware of | CUBRID Blog" http://www.cubrid.org/blog/cubrid-appstools/three-best-irc-clients-for-mac-i-am-aware-of/ :: [07:43] "Textual: IRC for Mac OS X" http://www.codeux.com/ :: "Snak - IRC for Mac" http://www.snak.com/… [07:45] Good morning Kilos [07:45] Use irssi [07:45] how is our mathmetician today? [07:45] :P [07:45] Lazy. It is the last day of vacation [07:45] irssi is hard work for me [07:46] And I have a massive amount of work to do (That I should have done in this break time) [07:46] eish [07:46] How is it going with you? [07:46] never put off till tomorrow what you can do today [07:46] im good ty, happy with new drive and 64bit kubuntu [07:47] Nice [07:48] It wasn't that I lazily procastrinated up until now. I did a lot of work, just not the work that I was supposed to ;P [07:48] Just work that was more engaging [07:48] lol [07:49] running 64bit kde is so much faster than 32bit here im very happy, the heavyness shows more in 32bit [07:49] heaviness [07:49] that thing [07:49] Maaz spell heaviness [07:49] Kilos: Yup, that's a word all right [07:49] yay [07:50] Maaz spell heavyness [07:50] Kilos: Suggestions: Heaviness or heaviness [07:50] Maaz botsnack [07:50] Thank you thank you, munch munch chomp chomp [07:51] biggest job with kubuntu is the configuring things till they suit your needs [07:58] How much ram to you have? [08:00] 4g [08:00] need to save for a faster cpu before i can worry about more ram [08:02] but for the first time since i started, everything in this pc was new, not other peeps discards [08:03] been using a drive the fly said to trash a few years ago hehe [08:11] Interesting that 64 would be faster. Perhaps x86 code has nice optimization [08:12] i dunno how it all works but i use evolution mail and in 32bit it takes forever to open and close , here its fast [08:13] so when i can upgrade to i5 cpu things gonna rock [08:17] :P [08:17] That sounds good [08:17] I think my harddrive in my desktop is dying [08:17] So everything takes forever to open up on it [08:17] And ElementaryOS died [08:18] I need to install something else [08:18] Will probably be Archlinux [08:26] sjoe [08:26] do you have power cuts often? [08:26] But that is for another time [08:27] Not as much the past year [08:27] after power cuts there are lots orphan inodes that need sorting [08:28] i run sudo touch /forcefsck and it clears them on next reboot [08:28] I will give it a whirl and see [08:28] thanks [08:29] some peeps say dont force fsck but noone told me why yet [08:29] that command works here so i maar use it [08:29] ext4 is a journaled filesystem, so it should do those things automagically [08:31] ive tried it after booting and getting message that orphan inodes have been deleted or cleaned but more are found and clean with the command [08:32] Reading about it now [08:48] oi [08:49] Thanks Kilos. Installed Quassel . and its a package on homebrew .. so even better [08:49] cool glad you got it going [08:50] with quassel you can bounce as well from others things like cells etc [08:51] i need to look at the bouncer thing one day too [08:51] but i couldnt get quassel to use bell.ogg before so use konversation instead [08:52] k. I want to look into it too [08:53] Hows the KDE config going ? [08:55] I used quassel for some time and it started crashing to frequently. Now switched to ZNC on ubuntu. Using hexchat on PCs to connecto to it and HoloIRC from my android devices. [08:55] coming right ty.. my main issues are finding thing with different names [08:56] and of course getting text larger [08:57] and i like many workspaces so sorting that is what hassles if i dont use a backup [08:57] hi spinza === jaysen is now known as Guest38365 [09:01] hmm... [09:55] hi [11:34] good afternoon [11:34] Maaz: coffee on [11:34] * Maaz starts grinding coffee [11:38] Coffee's ready for charl! [12:44] ohi charl [12:46] wb SDCDev [13:05] buncha yoyos [13:32] hi Kilos [13:57] I think the internet is broke [13:57] >.> [14:08] lol [14:09] hows the work coming gremble ? [14:10] im about ready to start changing drives to work on so might be on and off [14:10] would be nice if sata drivews were hot plugable like usbs [14:18] wbb [14:18] Maaz watch them [14:18] OK Kilos I'll keep an eye on them for you [14:19] Sata is hotpluggable [14:20] Well, S-ATA is supposed to be :P
