dpmmorning seb12806:49
seb128dpm, how are you?06:49
dpmseb128, still waking up, but good, and you? :)06:49
seb128same ;-)06:49
seb128dpm, did anyone debug the indicator-location translation issue?06:49
seb128dpm, sorry for not picking that up and helping yesterday, I was busy with other things06:50
seb128dpm, I just had a look and know what is wrong06:50
dpmseb128, not that I know of, no, I wasn't sure where to start, after checking that the translations were shipped and present in the .mo files. No worries, I wasn't expecting you to pick it up!06:51
seb128dpm, the issue is the trust-store update that adds i18n06:51
dpmaha06:51
seb128it changes the domain of the client using the lib06:51
seb128tvoss, ^ is that a known issue?06:51
seb128dpm, I confirmed by downgrading trust-store and indeed the indicator is properly translated06:51
MirvSaviq: "oh, that field"06:52
dpmseb128, tvoss, bug 138091607:15
ubot5bug 1380916 in indicator-location (Ubuntu) "Indicator location no longer loads its translations" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/138091607:15
tvossseb128, not known, yet07:16
seb128tvoss, hey, ok07:17
tvossseb128, dpm let me make sure that the text domain is only adjusted if the respective functions are called.07:18
seb128tvoss, thanks07:19
dpmthanks tvoss07:23
tvossdpm, seb128 is that bug critical?07:24
tvossdpm, seb128 https://code.launchpad.net/~thomas-voss/trust-store/only-adjust-text-domain-if-i18n-is-actually-called/+merge/23824007:27
seb128tvoss, it's making indicator-location untranslated, which I think it's a blocker for shipping a device in non english countries07:27
dpmtvoss, what seb128 said07:27
seb128tvoss, I don't know that codebase, but even if the client asks for i18n you shouldn't end up changing its domain?07:30
seb128or you need to restore it once done07:31
tvossseb128, sure, that is what the fix is about07:31
tvossseb128, @not changing the domain.07:31
seb128tvoss, ok, good, I was unsure from the description if it would still do it in some cases, but I don't know how that library is used07:33
dpmhi MacSlow, do you know from which package the battery and volume OSD notifications come from? They appear untranslated both on the phone and the desktop07:52
MacSlowdpm, lp:unity-settings-daemon iirc07:53
MacSlowdpm, although the volume-related sync. notifications on the phone are (will be) triggered by indicator-sound... and that's currently in the middle of being changed.07:54
seb128dpm, MacSlow: unity-settings-daemon is desktop only, no chance that's on the phone, rather indicators for the phone07:56
dpmok, will file against indicator-power and indicator-sound, then07:57
MacSlowdpm, btw... on the phone there's only one potential user of sync. notifications... indicator-sound for volume-notifications07:58
MacSlowdpm, I'm surprised that the current strings for regular (desktop) sync. notification are untranslated all of a sudden.07:59
seb128dpm, what string did you get on the phone, for the battery, which is not translated?07:59
dpmMacSlow, I'm not sure it's all of a sudden, I only happened to notice it on utopic: on the desktop, I got a critical battery OSD notification in English. And for volumen, there is no actual string shown, however, when the volume is at 0 and you click on the volume indicator to increase it, it will show "Volume" in English. On the phone, the critical battery notification appeared in English to me08:01
dpmseb128, ^08:01
seb128dpm, it looks like the phone notifications were added in http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~indicator-applet-developers/indicator-power/trunk.14.10/revision/26008:02
seb128dpm, those are under _()08:02
seb128not sure that's the string you saw though08:02
MacSlowdpm, ah... regarding the volume-notification it could be that you have not pull all available updates...08:02
seb128my phone is 50% charged, no sure how to test that08:02
MacSlowdpm, there was a "hiccup" with indicator-sound recently, which got reverted so that might have been what you saw08:02
MacSlowdpm, on the desktop volume notifications should not display any strings at all!08:03
dpmMacSlow, just captured this right now: http://i.imgur.com/q52jgkc.png with indicator-sound 12.10.2+14.10.20141007-0ubuntu108:07
MacSlowdpm, yeah... that's still the same bug it seems... did you pull all updates yet?08:09
JamesTaitGood morning all; happy Ada Lovelace Day! :-D08:09
justCarakas:D08:10
dpmseb128, I think those look like the strings that appeared on my phone. However, they don't seem to appear in the template: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-rtm/14.09/+source/indicator-power/+pots/indicator-power/ca/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=battery08:11
seb128dpm, ok, I see the issue08:12
dpmMacSlow, thanks upgrading from 12.10.2+14.10.20141007-0ubuntu1 to 12.10.2+14.10.20141010-0ubuntu1 now,08:12

dpmseb128, argh, well spotted08:25
seb128dpm, do you want to do a mp/manually update the template on launchpad for this one? or should I?08:27
dpmseb128, it'd be great to do the manual update while the MP doesn't land. Do you want to update the template and I do the MP? Or the other way round?08:32

mardymarcustomlinson: where can I see the OA C++ APIs for scopes?10:03
marcustomlinsonmardy: lp:unity-scopes-api10:04
marcustomlinsonmardy: a class called OnlineAccountClient10:04
marcustomlinsonmardy: (I know, very similar to OnlineAccountsClient) :P10:04
marcustomlinsonmardy: but for 1 account :)10:04
marcustomlinson(type)10:04
marcustomlinsonmardy: well actually, each instantiation of that class monitors any activity with accounts matching the service name, type and provider provided on construction10:05
marcustomlinsonmardy: the class docs should explain everything pretty well10:06
marcustomlinsonmardy: The only thing I'd really like to change about the class is to remove main_loop_select from the constructor, and manage an internal main loop always10:06
marcustomlinsonmardy: so basically, the default now is CreateInternalMainLoop, but I would like to remove the option entirely10:07
=== dandrader_ is now known as dandrader
mardymarcustomlinson: why can there be more than one ServiceStatus per object? If the service name is specified in the constructor, I would expect to find only one ServiceStatus11:11
marcustomlinsonmardy: 2 Google accounts, each with a service named YouTube11:12
mardymarcustomlinson: ah, of course11:12
mardymarcustomlinson: I would like to have two classes: one which is a model of account services (with filters), and then one class for an account-service11:16
mardymarcustomlinson: similar to how http://developer.ubuntu.com/api/qml/sdk-14.10/Ubuntu.OnlineAccounts.AccountServiceModel/ works (and AccountService)11:17
mardymarcustomlinson: but I'm not familiar with how models are represneted in C++11:17
marcustomlinsonmardy: Are you actually writing this now?11:19
marcustomlinsonmardy: can it wait for Washington11:19
mardymarcustomlinson: yes it can, and should wait, I want to go though all the API with you11:20
mardymarcustomlinson: I was just getting familiar with it11:20
marcustomlinsonmardy: yeah we should11:20
mardymarcustomlinson: and have a preliminary understanding, so we can go through the details later11:20
marcustomlinsonmardy: sure11:21
mardymarcustomlinson: also, your API is very convenient for OAuth, but we should support other authentication mechanisms, such as just username + password (I think this is especially important for smaller sites)11:22
marcustomlinsonmardy: yeah, that is a concern.11:23
marcustomlinsonmardy: in that case a scope is just interested in the "enabled" attribute11:24
marcustomlinsonmardy: the "authorized" bool is true only for oauth11:24
marcustomlinsonmardy: so yeah, needs work11:24

LinnakHi Everybody, I saw a video, in which the person docked his phone wired with a display and keyboard and mouse and he used his phone as an Ubuntu desktop. I had several questions about that12:33
LinnakFirst. Do I have to install Ubuntu touch to have the ubuntu desktop function or can I use andriod and ubuntu desktop?12:34
LinnakSecond. As a desktop which Ubuntu based os can I use. Just with Unity or?12:35
ogra_the converged function of ubuntu-touch is planned for 16.04 (with luck it will bee there earlier) ...12:36
ogra_there is no official desktop mode for android12:36
ogra_(you might find some hacked up variants that use a local VNC connection in an ubuntu chroot or some such)12:37
LinnakI'm talking about these:12:39
Linnakhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6eEDZva1W812:39
Linnakhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzc0uMXGFBY12:39
Linnakhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWiUvOkK1HM12:39
ogra_ubuntu for android is suspended ...12:39
ogra_that only works if a manufacturer actually implements the needed changes in the binary drivers for android12:40
ogra_unless you see some company like samsung announce it, it wont happen12:40
LinnakWhat if I install Ubuntu touch on my phone?12:40
ogra_then you have an ubuntu phone OS ... (if you have one of the supported devices, else you need to port it first)12:41
LinnakYeah clear. If I have Ubuntu touch on the right hardware I have to ude Unity as a desktop or I can choose something else?12:42
ogra_desktop ?12:42
LinnakWhen I dock It on the video it's not a touch surface but a unity one12:43
ogra_again, that feature does not exist12:43
LinnakJust on those three video??12:43
ogra_in the form of ubuntu for android it is suspended until a verndor implements it ...12:43
ogra_in the form of the current ubuntu phone OS it is non existing12:44
LinnakAll right. What a pity12:44
ogra_it will happen ... just a matter of time12:44
LinnakOne year???12:44
ogra_yeah, perhaps12:44
ogra_for now everyone is focused on getting a proper phone only OS done12:45
LinnakBy that time the cpu of the phone will be much stronger. so it can be good as well12:45
ogra_you need a proper base (and devices being sold with it preinstalled, which will come before end of the year) before you can add features12:45
ogra_currently all developers work towards the preinstalled phones12:46
LinnakIt's like windows. you need to write the drivers for all the manufacturer's hardware12:46
LinnakA big work12:47
ogra_well, there we are lucky and can use the android drivers ... but it is a completely new OS ... from scratch ... designed to become a desktop as well at some point in the future12:47
=== alan_g|lunch is now known as alan_g
LinnakAs I see the OS is ready. Many people installed on their phone. But not working on all phone. So and correct me if i'm wrong you need just the drivers to integrate in ubuntu touch12:50
ogra_well, the OS never had an official 1.0 release yet :)12:50
ogra_(will happen within the next months ... )12:50
ogra_tthe images you can install are all not finished yet ... they are developer previews, so people can use the SDK to write apps and so on12:51
LinnakI see. Thanks12:55

mardympt: hi! Can I ask you some more (quick!) info about bug 1380683? I guess that IRC is faster...13:33
ubot5bug 1380683 in ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts (Ubuntu) "Web app requiring account, and "Online Accounts" account screen, disappear without explanation" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/138068313:33

mptmardy, while SSHed or not?13:34
mardympt: yep (or even from the terminal app)13:34
mardympt: does it print a list of files, or does it spit some error?13:35
mptmardy, it prints a list of files13:37
mardympt: good, then the nice thing would be to enable logging in /etc/signond.conf, do you know how to use vi?13:39
mptmardy, I know “:wq”, but I don’t know anything else13:39
mptmardy, but nano is installed on the phone :-)13:40

mptmardy, uncomment “;LoggingLevel=2”?13:40

mardympt: then if you could try the account creation once more, you'll find the logs in the syslog13:41
mpt[ Error writing /etc/signond.conf: Read-only file system ]13:41
mptmardy, so “adb shell touch /userdata/.writable_image && adb reboot”?13:43

mptThat is simpler :-)13:47
mptHa!13:49
mptmardy, I regret to inform you that it is a heisenbug13:49
mptmardy, after making the image writable, I tested the bug again and it still happened. Then I turned on the logging, and tried it again, and now it doesn’t happen13:50
mptThe Facebook and Twitter apps both show the auth pages13:50
mardympt: could it be that something is wrong with the filesystem? The error message from the first logs seems to claim that the signon-plugin-oauth2 plugin is not installed13:50

jhodapppopey, and that's not the same as playlist support...it's just finishing the mpris interface13:55

rickspencer3jhodapp, so you are saying the music app needs to finish the mpris interface?13:56

jhodappahayzen, correct13:57

jhodapprickspencer3, no, it's all media-hub13:58
seb128jhodapp, do you know if it was discussed using another interface than mpris between media-hub and the indicator?13:59
jhodappseb128, not to my knowledge, something wrong with using MPRIS?13:59
larsujhodapp: yes, it's bad, and even worse when there's only one media player (media-hub) exporting it14:00
seb128jhodapp, it's not really needed there and we could have something simpler/better14:00
jhodappseb128, larsu: that's up to tvoss, he's the architect14:00
seb128tvoss, ^14:00
jhodappseb128, I would argue to still use MPRIS though since it's a standard14:01
jhodappand other things can automatically plug into it14:01
larsujhodapp: mpris really wasn't made for this kind of thing14:02
jhodapplarsu, what kind of thing exactly?14:02
larsujhodapp: having one service act as different applications14:02
mptmardy, anything else you need?14:03
larsuwe have a pretty clear picture of what an improved version of mpris will look like, but that will also not be what we would want to use in this case14:03
larsureally, if media-hub is the only thing playing stuff, we ought to skip over indicator-sound and make media-hub talk to unity directly14:03
jhodapplarsu, that's really up to tvoss, I might have an opinion on that but it's how the system was designed for now14:04
seb128jhodapp, it might be worth discussing before somebody spends more time adding mpris support to media-hub if that's not something we need14:06
seb128but yeah, let's see what tvoss says on the topic14:06
jhodappseb128, we already have full mpris support...there's just a couple of functions not hooked up yet14:06
larsujhodapp: why don't you state your opinion? The way it is now is a historic accident (of the "we have this now let's use it" kind)14:06
mardympt: no, this is excellent, thanks14:06
mardympt: I've never seen this happening, I need to figure out how on earth it can happen :-)14:06
jhodapplarsu, too much to do, and I've not seen any problem with the design thus far14:06
mardympt: is that on a Nexus 4?14:07
larsujhodapp: in any case, I've proposed a branch that disables player controls for now, because media-hub doesn't supply them14:08
jhodapplarsu, for indicator-sound?14:08
larsuy14:08
larsuya14:08
larsuwe won't be changing the architecture now anyway14:08
larsubut let's talk about it again before we spend more time implementing the rest of mpris14:09

larsutvoss: I don't understand the question... rickspencer3's bug is about removing them14:23
seb128jgdx, can I reproduce the bug with 1 SIM an dhow?14:24
rickspencer3larsu, that is what I am suggesting14:25
rickspencer3set the controls to invisible until they work14:25
tvosslarsu, temporarily14:25
rickspencer3they are just a bug report magnet right now, and make the core experience seem weak14:25
tvosslarsu, you don't need to do anything, i will take care of it14:25
rickspencer3after we get what needs to be fixed, fixed, turn them back to visible14:25
larsurickspencer3: right. tedg suggested that maybe you meant removing the whole menu item (including the currently playing song)14:25
rickspencer3tvoss, did JoeO comment on the bug, though?14:25
jgdxseb128, yes14:26
mptmardy, yes, it’s a Nexus 414:26
larsurickspencer3: the branch I've attached only removes the controls14:26
tvossrickspencer3, yup14:26
tvosslarsu, no need to do that in the indicator, I will fix that in media-hub14:26
rickspencer3larsu, I don't know specifically what is the correct thing to do, I guess having the currently playing song doesn't make much sense if there are no controls and album art14:26
larsutvoss: already done. don't approve the branch ;)14:26
rickspencer3nic314:26
rickspencer3thanks all14:27

dobeydpm: +add_translations_template("${GETTEXT_PACKAGE}" "${DESKTOP_FILE}" "Canonical Ltd." app backend)14:30
dobeydpm: what is the "app backend" part for, there?14:30
dpmdobey, they are the paths relative to the root of the tree where to look for translations. They are passed as args14:32
dpmso in this case only the apps and backend directories will be scanned14:33
dobeyoh14:33
dobeydpm: but if no directory is passed, it will result in a tempalte with only the desktop.in.in.h file, no?14:38
jgdxseb128, flight mode is really slow here. Not sure if that affects the repro ability.14:47
jgdx(toggling FM is slow)14:47
seb128jgdx, I'm almost done with what I'm doing, looking at that next14:50
jgdxseb128, sure14:50
dpmdobey, hm, yes, you're right. The lack of support for checking named arguments in cmake macros makes it a bit difficult to write something reasonable :/14:56
dobeydpm: i think you could add a check for if ARGN is empty and recurse over everything if so, otherwise recurse over specific directories15:01
dobeydpm: or just get rid of the directory arguments and always recurse over everything perhaps15:02
dobeydpm: aside from that it looks ok to me. i don't know that it's the right long-term solution, but if copying this across the core apps makes things a bit easier short-term, it's fine. i think for long-term we should fix up intltool to play well with cmake15:07

kemmkompt:  because user needs to enter SIM PIN before successful activation15:24
mptkemmko, “Locked           [✕] ]”15:24
kemmkompt:  this will mean that when next time you boot your device, the SIM is locked (noted in the OS) and will ask you to unlock it15:24
mptkemmko, there’s two separate things here. (A) Whether a SIM PIN is set, and if so, (B) whether it is locked right now. I’m only talking about (B).15:25
Wellarkev: thanks!15:27
kemmkompt: ahhhhhh15:28
mptkemmko, if (A) a SIM PIN is set, then when you restart the phone, (B) it always returns to the locked state. I was interested to know whether there was any point in allowing (B) locking *without* restarting15:28

seb128Wellark, only sim117:27
awe_you need to check list-modems | grep Online17:27
Wellarkawe_: so there is an automated test case that tests that all the signals fly properly even if ofono is in the middle of activating a internet context?17:27
awe_and then run urfkill's enumerate script to check the 'soft' state of each killswitch17:27
awe_and finally, the output of flight-mode with no args17:28
awe_which will query urfkill's flight-mode state17:28
WellarkI'm talking about signals here17:28
Wellarkseb128: is sim2 installed?17:28
awe_then run 'monitor-ofono' and 'monitor-urfkill'17:28
awe_or use dbus snooping17:29
Wellarkawe_: yes. I know.17:29
awe_Wellark, there are not automated test cases for urfkill17:29
Wellarknor conformance tests agains ofono modem drivers17:30
awe_not sure what you mean by that17:30
seb128Wellark, no, which is why I wrote "only"17:30
awe_we've written the ofono modem drivers17:30
Wellarkawe_: tests that verify that the different modem drivers respect and implement the ofono dbus api properly17:31
awe_we have unit tests to verify message building/parsing, and some other utilities17:31
Wellarkwhich would be hard as the spec is not detailed enough17:31
awe_the modem drivers don't implement the dbus API, they influence it17:31
awe_but then again, this is all fine and dandy, but let's focus on the bug17:32
awe_seb128, Wellark, if you guys file a bug for this, please let me know.  I have some NM testing to do now, but can also try to reproduce17:32
Wellarkawe_: testing now on krillin17:32
Wellarkif I can repro I will file the bug17:33
awe_k17:33
Wellarkseb128: btw, is your wifi connected when you do this?17:33
Wellarkor should I disable wifi?17:33
seb128it's connected17:34
awe_pmcgowan, are we going to land the cell mobile data split this week, or has it been punted to OTA-1?17:36
awe_in system settings17:36
awe_jgdx, ^^17:36
awe_pmcgowan, never mind, looks like it was released17:38
Wellarkseb128: what do you see inside the indicator menu?17:38
pmcgowanawe_, oh? I dont think he finished it17:38
Wellarkseb128: are the modems marked as "Offline" ?17:39
pmcgowanawe_, I was going to say we could land it after tomorrow17:39
awe_I see Off, SIM1, SIM2 then 2G, 2G/3G with separate checkmarks for each17:39
awe_you mean after thu?17:40
pmcgowanawe_, the build is being made tomorrow evening for BQ17:40
pmcgowanthats the one being tested17:40
awe_k17:41
pmcgowanawe_, I dont see separate checks here17:41
pmcgowanI know jonas was finishing the tests17:41
awe_which image are you running?  I just re-flashing a few minutes ago and I see them17:43
pmcgowanawe_, from earlier today, let me look again17:44
Wellarkseb128: so you say the 3G icon appears after you see the flightmode icon?17:44
Wellarkas I can't repro from system-settings17:44
Wellarkseb128: how much time do you take to enable flight mode once you have enabled mobile data?17:45
seb128Wellark, yes17:47
seb128not sure, 3 seconds17:47
seb128like I click the mode, open the indicator (or go back), and toggle the switch17:48
Wellarkseb128: did you reboot and got the same results from the system-settings alone and not touching the indicator?17:49
pmcgowanawe_, we are talking about https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1378812 right17:50
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1378812 in ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) "[cellular] The radio preference setting and data traffic setting design causes problems*" [High,In progress]17:50
pmcgowanstill in progress there17:50
pmcgowanbut it does seem different in the image now17:50
Wellarkseb128: sorry for being a PITA, but I just have to be absolutely certain.. as I can't repro17:51
awe_Wellark, I'll work on reproducing it, but that said, we've been discussing this for *weeks*17:51
awe_it was one of the two major problems we waived to allow the urfkill landing17:51
awe_note, it's hard to reproduce when NM isn't behaving17:52
Wellarkawe_: seb said that he was able to repro from system-settings alone17:52
Wellarkand if that is the case then this is something entirely different than the unity8 toggleswitch bug17:52
awe_ok17:52
awe_however I think I reported that it could occur using either control ( indicator or settings )17:53
awe_anyways, I'll do my best to reproduce again17:53
seb128Wellark, no, let me try to reboot17:53
awe_seb128, how many SIMs?17:55
seb128awe_, one in the first slot18:04
awe_thanks seb12818:09
seb128yw18:10
seb128awe_, can you reproduce it?18:10
awe_seb128, I have multiple times in the past, but haven't been able to do so today.  That said, I have two SIMs installed.  I will try one next to see if it makes a diff18:10
* awe_ hunts for this SIM tool for the millionth time18:11
Wellarkawe_: I already lost mine18:13
awe_I've lost many...18:14
Wellarkawe_: where can I get a replacement?18:14
Wellarkis there some standard tools?18:15
awe_at a place that sells SIMs18:15
Wellarkoh, ok18:15
WellarkI'll have to check18:15
awe_any operator kiosk should have 'em too18:15
awe_Wellark, I haven't been able to reproduce yet, but am still seeing the menu toggle out-of-sync bug18:19
Wellarkawe_: yep.18:21
sergiusensdobey: there seems to be trust store integration with my account for the scope; I just clean installed and always get asked to "allow" or "decline" when trying to install but nothing happens after18:34
dobeysergiusens: what image?18:41
sergiusensdobey: mako ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09-proposed 8718:41
sergiusensdobey: anywhere (log) I can look at?18:43
dobeysergiusens: what version of libunity-scopes3 do you have installed? and unity-plugin-scopes?18:45
dobeysergiusens: sounds like you have new click scope, but older versions of those packages18:46
sergiusensdobey: didn't the latest click scope land?18:47
dobeysergiusens: yes18:47
sergiusensdobey: ii  libunity-scopes3:armhf                               0.6.6+14.10.20141006-0ubuntu1               armhf        API for Unity scopes integration18:47
sergiusensdobey: ii  unity-plugin-scopes:armhf                            0.5.4+14.10.20141002.1-0ubuntu1             armhf        QML plugin for Scopes18:48
dobeyyeah, those are old18:48
dobeyman, having different image build #s for different devices is super confusing :-/18:49
dobeysergiusens: you're testing the scope bult in your silo, on this image, right?18:51
sergiusensdobey: yes18:51
sergiusensdobey: do I need to sync more?18:51
dobeysergiusens: the packages already landed in ubuntu-rtm archive, but they don't seem to be in the latest images built yet18:51
sergiusensdobey: ah, makes sense, I'll update18:52
dobeysergiusens: and the new unity-scopes-api and unity-scopes-shell packages are needed; so next image build should have them18:52
dobeyso libunity-scopes3 and unity-plugin-scopes are the binary packages18:52
sergiusensdobey: yup; same ones I c/ped are the ones I installed; are these not sh-libbed from the package build btw?18:54
sergiusensor was there a missing version bump somewhere18:54
=== thostr_dinner is now known as thostr_
dobeysergiusens: the binary doesn't have explicit version deps on them.; the soname didn't change though, as the ABI didn't break18:56
sergiusensdobey: true soname didn't break; just the client trying to do something that isn't there in some form or the other18:57
sergiusensdobey: works now! thanks18:58
dobeysergiusens: we added a build-dep on the newer libunity-scopes version, but that was satisfied at build time. :)18:58
dobeysergiusens: some behavior changed in the lib and plug-in though, which makes things work like how they should18:59
sergiusensdobey: I did find a scope bug (verified on my non siloed device)19:02
sergiusensdobey: if I click install and go back real fast, then go back to the app, progress is lost19:02
sergiusensis that a known issue?19:02
kgunnWellark: awe_ sorry was at lunch, the remainder of the fix in unity8 for out of sync indicators is here19:06
kgunnhttps://code.launchpad.net/~nick-dedekind/unity8/lp1336715.server-value-reassert/+merge/23782219:06
kgunnstill under review19:06
awe_thanks kgunn.  Is that slates for an ota update?19:06
awe_s/slates/slated/19:07
dobeysergiusens: by "go back real fast" do you mean before it switches to showing the progress bar?19:07
sergiusensdobey: yes19:07
kgunnawe_: it's a critical bug so it's asap really19:07
awe_kgunn, ok thanks19:09
dobeysergiusens: i think the app is not actually getting installed at that point. there is an issue now where it takes a second or so for things to happen, due to the online-accounts integration, and the dash isn't replacing the button. i need to check if there is a bug for that, and fix it, but it's only high i think, so i've been trying to get this other critical in the scope fixed first19:10
dobeysergiusens: what you did is basically cancel the install before it started19:10
sergiusensdobey: well it is getting dowloaded and installed from what I saw here19:10
dobeysergiusens: but the UX is a little lacking for that19:10
dobeyhmm, it shouldn't be, if the progress bar never appeared in the preview19:10
sergiusensdobey: at least dbus-monitor shows download progress19:10
dobeyodd19:11
dobeysergiusens: anyway, feel free to open a bug about it (with screenshots or video if possible would be best)19:11
sergiusensdobey: ack, will do19:12

afmanyone want to help with porting to a new android device (it's the OnePlus One 100% opensource)?  I'm an experienced linux and solaris sysadmin...  I have all source code for my phone, and all phablet source downloaded21:24
derelinguo@afm, I'm in a similar boat. Trying to port for for HTC M8, also have a DevOps background. How far have you got just following the porting guide?21:27
afmjust started today during work...  VM rmped up, got all CM code specific to the phone, and the source for touch dl'd... bout it...  will be pounding away this evening... a little guidence would make things easier :)21:30
afmit run's CM stock when purchased... nothing proprietary about it...21:31
afmit's rooted, and bootloaded unlocked of course... multiboot twrp installed...21:32
afmbootloader even...21:32
derelinguoYeh, they are nice. Did you add the CM device stuff to the phablet repo using roomservice.xml and syned as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting?21:33
afmthats next as soon as work ends21:37
derelinguokl, I might have a quick go building for the 1+ since it's built for CM out of the box. Only thing I'm not sure of is if the build will work nicely with CM11 bits or if you need a CM10 base21:41
afmtried to apply roomservice...  http://pastebin.com/DgghEKuZ22:12
dakerafm: not my field but i think it should say utopic22:15
dakernot trusty22:15
afmhmm the phablet stuff was purely, phablet-dev-bootstrap $PWD22:17
derelinguoafm: here's mine so far: http://pastebin.com/cTG8jhFi I think you just need to include the revision attribute22:18
afmtrying22:19
derelinguoI'm going with revision="stable/cm-11.0" btw22:19
afmjust pasted my 42% mark... nice!22:19
afmer passed22:20
derelinguoHa, take it that works then? Next quest is to make sure the device/oneplus is included in build/core/main.mk (line 557)22:23
afmsync just finished... added vendor/oneplus to the bottom of that section22:27
afmooh... device... not vendor..22:27
derelinguo(y)22:27
afmvendor/bacon or anything?22:28
afmm22:28
afmnm22:28
afmextract files done22:31
afmminus 1....  remote object '/system/priv-app/com.qualcomm.location.apk' does not exist22:31
derelinguoAhh yeh, I can't get that far :(22:32
derelinguoI get the error from the last post in this thread on first attempt at building: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794789&page=10222:32
derelinguoFollowing the solution of commenting out that include as suggested in the post ^ for now22:33
afmmoving on down... audio stuff22:35
derelinguoWhen you get errors about dtbltoolCM, I had this for the M8 too, described at the bottom here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/AndroidAOSPPorting22:39
derelinguomight be a case of adding this to the roomservice (fingers crossed) https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_qcom_common22:44
afmhmmmmm22:44
afmi'm here:  You can find your kernel config at kernel/[manufacturer]/[codename]/arch/arm/configs/ cyanogenmod_[codename]_defconfig. Please double check that it is indeed the default config file name in device/[manufacturer]/[codename]/*.mk (look for the TARGET_KERNEL_CONFIG variable).22:45
afmdoesn't seem to match up exactly22:45
derelinguoAhh right, so you made the kernel changes following the readme? which file did you change?22:47
derelinguo^ Sorry, is that just a copy and paste from the tutorial?22:47
afmroot@ubuntu:~/touch/kernel/oneplus/msm8974/arch/arm/configs# ls -al | grep cyanogen22:47
afm-rw-r--r--  1 root root 97790 Oct 14 14:26 cyanogenmod_bacon_defconfig22:47
afmroot@ubuntu:~/touch/device/oneplus/bacon# cat mkbootimg.mk | grep TARGET_KERNEL_CONFIG22:48
derelinguocyanogenmod_bacon_defconfig is the default22:50
derelinguoits under device/oneplus/bacon/BoardConfig.mk ...just to confuse you :)22:50
afmah.. thanks!22:51
derelinguoyeh, took me ages to find that the first time round too22:51
afmso what file do the "Extra configs" get added to?22:57
derelinguois this that error: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794789&page=10222:58
afmno error yet... haven't executed anything yet22:58
afmfollowing the somewhat crappy guide... *sorry if anyone helped write it*22:59
derelinguoahh right, yeh just copy n paste those lines into the end of cyanogenmod_bacon_defconfig under kernel/....etc23:00
derelinguoI think the ubuntu guys admit the guide is a bit sparse. I'd like to put something concise together if I ever get to the point of a successful build23:02

Wellarkmterry: could you fix the two branches? it's 2am here..23:05
derelinguoerr, you wil need the qcom_common stuff in your roomservice I posted a while ago. Also remember to add it in build/core/main.mk under subdirs as device/qcom (same as for oneplus folder)23:06
afmguess i missed that... in a screen session... no scroll back...23:07
derelinguohehe nice, one mo...23:07
afmfeel free to msg me23:08
derelinguoneed to add this guy to your roomservice.xml: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_qcom_common23:08
derelinguoAfraid I'm going to have to call it a night. Seem be having similar issues as my device so my keep trying with the oneplus for a while if you'll be working on it? Good luck!23:09
derelinguoFYI: If I make any sensible progress on this I'll stick it on github under cbanbury :)23:11
afmok.. added <project name="CyanogenMod/android_device_qcom_common" path="device/qcom_common" remote="github" revision="stable/cm-11.0"/> to roomservice.xml and repo sync'd23:13
