[12:40] repost from #mythtv-users [12:40] [22:52:13] i think i might have re-uncovered a mythbuntu problem that may affect others. [12:40] [22:53:11] I have had vexing trouble with Afatech cards and ages ago philips cards where the kernel was doing whatever it needed to do to install firmware or calibrate tuners. [12:40] [22:54:01] in the meantime init would fire up mythbackend which i think would then try to talk to the TV cards at the same time and bugger things up. [12:40] [22:55:20] i did solve the problem by introducing a "sleep 120" just before mythbackend is started in the init/mythtv.conf file which seemed to make the philips cards behave. [12:40] [22:56:21] i just tried it with the Afatech cards (using a sleep 20) and i didn't get the myriad of i2c errors in the syslog which means they just won't ever tune if that happens. [12:40] 22:58:08] so there is possibly a race at startup between the kernel drivers finishing bootup jobs with the DVB cards and mythbackend stomping all over the cards at the same time. I guess the kernel should block until it's finished setting up the cards. [12:40] [22:58:27] this setup usual is done one tuner at a time and can take a few seconds. [12:41] so i have 2 Afatech 9015 cards (4 tuners) and they in turn take 5 seconds each to calibrate [12:41] if mythbackend starts up while this is happening and talks to the cards it can wreck the card for tuning until next power cycle. [16:58] hello [16:58] sorry to disturb you but i just want to notice that the download link for mythbuntu on existing ubuntu does not work [16:58] the link that we could found there: [16:58] http://www.mythbuntu.org/existing-ubuntu [16:58] http://download.mythbuntu.org/getmythbuntu.php [17:10] nobody is here?? :( [17:11] the right person will read it, no worries [17:12] ok thank you. :) [17:13] thank you for reporting! [17:14] tgm4883 ^ [17:17] looking into it. Thanks qwebirc23840 and Jay2k1 [17:18] fixed [17:30] thank you!!!! [17:30] that was fast :) [17:57] One question, there is no link for the 14.04 ? [18:06] it's in the repository so nothing to do... [18:08] qwebirc23840: there should be a link, the link just takes you to software center to install it from the repo [18:08] so yea, you can just install it through there instead of the website [18:10] thank's everything is upgraded :) [18:10] thank's for the help :) [18:20] bye :)
