[04:05] <ShawnR> i did the normal dist-upgrade or whatever
[04:05] <mhall119> try joining #ubuntu-devel, hopefully some packing/apt/dpkg guru in there can help you repair this
[04:05] <mhall119> ah! never dist-upgrade between releases, use do-release-upgrade instead
[04:06] <ShawnR> i think i've given up.  I need to move this off of the sempron with 4 GB RAM (or maybe just 2?) to my PE 2950 with 32GB RAM
