[00:32] Fresh install of 14.04.1 just now. Mobo with onboard Nvidia connected over HDMI to TV. Chose to instal NVidia driver during setup and did not enable any TV out (as HDMI is just seen as a monitor, correct?) and when the system booed for the first time, I got a black screen with a cursor in the corner. I used CTRL-F1 to get to the console and an doing an apt-get update && apt-get upgrade to see if that resolves it. Any other ideas? [00:45] This hardware is about 5 years old and has onboard NVidia graphics. I have a vauge recollection about an alternate/older NVIDIA driver, is that right? [01:25] what gpu? [01:26] i use a GeForce 8400 with no problems [01:30] GeForce 9400 embedded on board [01:30] Apparnetly a LOT of people have issues with this and something about setting the busid int he xorg.conf file may help but I can't find the fricking file [01:34] did you install the nvidia drivers? [01:36] yes [01:38] can you connect a vga monitor? [01:40] does the tv have vga input? [02:52] I'm ready to abandon mythbuntu entirely [02:52] this is just absurd, it has worked just fine for 5 years on an earlier release [02:52] and this is a disaster [02:52] I got it working, following various threads on the net, adding busid information to the xorg file (why the heck is it missing?) and then I had to reboot and I'm back to black screen of death [03:50] Hello how do I install mythbuntu on an existing ubuntu installation without using the software center? I don't see a deb or repo link anywhere on the site [03:58] qwebirc81794: http://www.mythbuntu.org/existing-ubuntu [03:58] Sorry the chat froze that is exactly the link that is not working for me [03:59] it requires the Ubuntu Software Center be installed [03:59] I want to either download a deb file or add a repo to my sources.list and then install using apt-get [05:01] qwebirc18674: did you bother searching for it [05:01] in the repo [05:06] in what repo there is no link tgm4883 [05:07] in the official repos. Install mythbuntu-control-centre via whatever method you normally install packages [05:08] ok thank you ... so where/how do I request that information get added to the downloads page? as I am sure I am not the first person to have had this question
