mzanettipopey: yep, that works quite nicely now :)10:07
mzanettipopey: one thing I find not that good though, when you disconnect headphones (regardless if cable or bluetooth) it continues playing through the phone's speaker10:08

mzanettihmm... I really thougth that would have been fixed10:12
mzanettibut yeah, seems to do the trick10:12
cgihello guys, I have a question. why my ubuntu sdk couldnt find qtquick 2.3? im using ubuntu 14.0410:16
mihircgi: are you getting any errors while running an app?10:17
mzanettiahayzen: small request: could the app remember in which tab I left it? currently it always starts up at albums, I tend to use only artists though10:17
mzanettiso I always have to switch tab after restarting the app10:17
ahayzenmzanetti, interesting we discussed this.... basically what i does at the moment is if you have no recent it goes to Albums if you have recent it starts on the recent page10:18
mzanettiright... /me basically never uses things like "recent". There has yet an algorithm to show up which gets useful stuff out of my behavior10:19
ahayzenmzanetti, hah yeah i sortof agree with starting on the previous tab (as we restore the queue as well now)...but would have to get it past victor, jouni ... any preferences popey ? ^^10:20
popeyyeah, recent is a strange one...10:22
popeyI frequently listen to the same album, so you'd think recent was the right thing to do10:22
popeybut I almost immediately switch away from recent to any other view, usually albums10:22
popeyso one for jouni I think ㋛10:23
mzanettiI guess its fair to have it, I totally see the use case for it. But not necessarily the default thing to show up10:24
mzanettiwhat's the criteria for something to end up in recent?10:24
ahayzenmzanetti, play an album or playlist10:25
mzanettibecause I played 3 songs of an album now and recent is still empty10:25
mzanettido I need to play the full album?10:25
ahayzenmzanetti, its a bit messy at the moment though only certain ways add it10:25
* ahayzen adds to his list to try and improve recent tracking10:28
mzanettiahayzen: another thing I'd do a bit different is that genres gives me a list of all songs of that genre. I'd still prefer a list of albums or even artists10:28
ahayzenmzanetti, hmmm not sure if the models would allow us to do that10:29
* ahayzen checks10:29
mzanettilike for instance xbmc does it:10:30
mzanettiyou select a genre, then you get a list with "All", "ArtistA", "ArtistB"...10:30
ahayzenmzanetti, ah no we should be ok genre is an option on all of the models by the looks of it http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mediascanner-team/mediascanner2/trunk/view/head:/src/qml/Ubuntu/MediaScanner/plugin.qmltypes10:30
mzanetticlicking on "All" would give the list as it is now, all songs from the genre (or maybe all albums from that genre)10:31
ahayzenmzanetti, would we need all? as we have the play/queue all at the top10:31
mzanetticlicking on ArtistA would give you all albums of that artist and that genre10:31
mzanettiright, yeah, that's basically it...10:31
ahayzenmzanetti, and then would Genre->Artist->Album->Songs->Queue or Genre->Album->Songs->Queue10:31
ahayzenthats quite a bit of depth there10:31
mzanettiyeah, but you can leave it at any point by using the play/queue button10:32
mzanettiso you only get the depth if you really want to do fine grained searches10:32
ahayzenyeah we'll have to discuss that with jouni10:33
ahayzenmzanetti, what would you expect the art to be on the genre items.... as this is an area for improvement at the moment10:33
mzanettiI kinda like how it is atm10:33
mzanettimixing album covers of that genre10:34
mzanettiother than that... no showstoppers found here. I didn't really test playlist handling though.10:35
mzanettipopey: ^10:35
ahayzenmzanetti, only certain users use playlists10:35
mzanettiyep, I'm not one of them10:35
ahayzensame i just play an album usually10:36
ahayzenmzanetti, thanks for testing and the feedback :)10:36
mzanettiimo the app is good to go. huge improvement10:36
mzanettithanks for the app :)10:36
ahayzenmzanetti, no problem hopefully we'll get it in the store in time :)10:37

vitimitiI am trying to make a small game in which I need to combine several animations. One of them is an animation that should make the sprite fall non-stop but, when the screen is clicked, it should go up some pixels and then continue the fall. Where can I find a tutorial on how to do this? All I can do is like "reset" the y coordinates so the sprite always appears in the upper part of the screen when I click11:38

balloonsnik90, :-) So I have a question about the keyboard overlaying content. You remember my feedback app right? It seems the input box is overlaid by the keyboard, making it rather difficult to use. Is there an easy way to make sure the input will scroll up to make room for the keyboard?14:15
nik90balloons: ah yes, you will need to use a Flickable for that and set the anchorToKeyboard variable to true in the mainview14:16
balloonsI figured I needed a flickable, but I wasn't sure how it all needed to be setup14:16
nik90I remember playing around with your branch long time back, but ran into an issue at the time14:17
balloonsohh right! I do remember that14:17

balloonsnik90, so my branch is updated with a flickable and the start of your header changes (which don't seem to be complete). Anyways, if you run revision 12, you'll notice the field doesn't automove when the keyboard appears. How can I achieve this?16:05
nik90balloons: did you set the anchorsToKeyboard variable to true in the MainView{} ?16:05
balloonsnik90, mmm.. no I don't think so16:05
* balloons tries16:06
nik90in mainView, there are other property like automaticOrientation, deprecatedToolbar etc etc...right below define anchorToKeyboard: true16:06
nik90that should anchor the bottom of your app to the keyboard16:06
nik90so if the flickable is anchored to the app bottom, then it will be shifted up when the osk is shown16:06
balloonsnik90, AHH! That makes sense16:09
t1mpnik90: hello16:10
nik90t1mp: hey hey :)16:10
t1mpnik90: I started to look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1381008 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/133209216:10
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1381008 in Ubuntu UI Toolkit "[SDK] Switch is too large" [High,Confirmed]16:10
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1332092 in Ubuntu UI Toolkit "Changing the size of the switch does not change the size of the icons inside it" [Medium,Confirmed]16:10
t1mpnik90: if I fix the default size of the switch, will you no longer need to change the size of the switch?16:10
nik90t1mp: yes16:11
t1mpuhm..16:11
t1mpso then I don't need to fix https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/133209216:11
t1mpbut actually... why would I not fix that one? ;)16:11
t1mpnevermind, I see if I can fix both independently :)16:11
nik90t1mp: :)16:11
t1mpgventuri: hello16:13
t1mpgventuri: for bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1381008 do you have exact specs for the switch size, or maybe a screenshot with a grid of grid-units overlaid?16:13
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1381008 in Ubuntu UI Toolkit "[SDK] Switch is too large" [High,In progress]16:13
nik90t1mp: doesn't https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/content_link/FKDbZuATiIbIrb2d6merZE1eC1ZJRf4Awz7ZFIIVvEDSfSbJbrAWWmZeMCZAt5FG show that?16:14
t1mpnik90: I get a 403 on that16:16
t1mpbut the link in the bug description works16:16
nik90ah..16:17
balloonsnik90, ok, so I think I'm left now with an anchoring problem as the fields go offscreen now :-)16:17
t1mpnik90: ahh, yes16:17
t1mpnik90: you are right. The link has two images in it and I was looking at the wrong one :) thanks16:17
nik90t1mp: yw16:17
nik90balloons: well if they go offscreen, the user will need to scroll the page up to see more of the content..16:18
nik90or may be I am misunderstanding this...got a screenshot?16:18
t1mpnik90: actually it appears to me that the doc is showing the old (large) size16:18
t1mpbut maybe the image is just a higher resolution16:19
balloonsnik90, lol.. So the app has a few textareas on screen. The top 3 work fine with the keyboard covering the bottom. The last one needs to move up when the keyboard appears so you can see what you are typing. That's the behavoir I would like16:19
nik90I am not sure, best wait for giorgio then16:19
balloonsthe behavoir I have now is the entire page moves up anytime I tap into a textarea16:21
balloonsthat means the top textareas all go offscreen when you edit them16:21
nik90balloons: hmm, I will have to run it to understand better..but I think that's the bug I faced when I was trying to add a flickable to your app :P16:21
nik90balloons: does rev 12, have the issue?16:23
balloonsnik90, yes. take rev 12 and add     anchorToKeyboard: true16:24
balloonsnote it's anchor, not anchors :-)16:24
balloonsnik90, apparently the behavoir I'm after (which is a sensible default really) used to work. Something seems to have changed in the newer images that causes the field to be hidden on entry16:26
balloonsthat is, without a flickable or the anchor property, etc.. My old code16:26
gventurit1mp: What file are you looking at?16:27
nik90balloons: I am pretty sure the textfield was covered by the keyboard in older images as well..well atleast that was my personal experience when trying to submit feedback16:28
nik90balloons: I get an error file:///opt/click.ubuntu.com/com.ubuntu.developer.nskaggs.feedback/0.3/feedback.qml:181 Cannot assign to non-existent property "head" when trying to run rev 12..16:28
t1mpgventuri: I was looking at the file that shows all the components, but I didn't realize that there was another file with the grid-overlay, exactly what I was looking for :)16:32
akiva-thinkpadubuntu-on-air is on now!16:33
balloonsnik90, that's your header changes. I should have just left them out I guess16:33
t1mpgventuri: so my problem is already solved16:33
balloonsnik90, I pushed rev15 which is what I'm working with atm16:34
gventurit1mp: indeed16:36
gventurit1mp: can you double check the checkbox as well16:36
t1mpgventuri: okay16:36
gventurit1mp: if it's the right size16:36
gventurit1mp: since you are there16:36
nik90balloons: yeah I get the issue you have...it is so strange16:37
nik90balloons: I use flickables on a daily basic, :/16:37
balloonsnik90, well is it a bug, or just a poor layout I've used or ?16:41
nik90balloons: well I think it is a bug in your code, though I am unable to debug it. I am going to start fresh with 4-5 textfield similar to your app and see if I can reproduce the issue16:42
balloonsnik90, I'm happy to redesign the app.. It needs some actual UI love. I have none to give it16:56
balloonsand the current issues are systematic of the UI layout16:56

aquariuswhat's the best way to lay out an Ubuntu app which has a textbox at the top and then a listview below which is longer than the screen? If we didn't have the header, I'd just put the textbox at the top of the screen and then have the listview in a flickable taking up the rest of the screen... but with the scrollaway header, I'm a bit confused how to do it20:11
aquariusI do not want the textbox to scroll away.20:11
nik90aquarius: then why don't you make the header not scrollaway and then put the textfield in the header?20:14
aquarius'cos that's not what headers are for, right20:14
aquarius?20:14
nik90well something headers shows important stuff and disabling its scrollaway behavior is acceptable20:14
nik90but anyway, why put the textfield and the listview inside a column?20:15
aquariuswhy put?20:15
nik90let the column fill the entire page, this way the textfield is always shown in the top and the listview below it will scroll as expected20:15
nik90I meant "why not put"20:16
aquariusum. I don't think it works like that, does it?20:16
nik90you mean design wise or technically?20:17
aquariustechnically20:17
nik90technically, I don't see why it shouldn't work.20:17
aquarius'cos the whole column scrolls away?20:17
nik90no it won't since the column is set the fill the entire page by anchors.fill: parent20:18
nik90and the listview height: parent.height - textfield.height20:18
aquariusconfused what happens to the header then20:18
nik90the header won't move or be affected in anyway20:19
aquariusright. but I *want* the header to scroll away :)20:19
nik90although I understand your problem now20:19
nik90right20:19
nik90aquarius: how about placing the textfield inside the listview header component? http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5/qml-qtquick-listview.html#header-prop20:21
nik90I haven't used this before20:22
nik90bah nevermind, since it will still not hide the header I think20:22
aquariushm, header of a listview! didn't know about that20:24
aquariushow do I put my installed emulator on a different channel?21:23
popeyaquarius: --channel=foo21:33
popeywhen you create the emulator21:33
aquariuscreating the emulator doesn't offer a channel option (I do it from Ubuntu SDK) -- I can pick "devel", "devel-proposed", and "stable", and that's it :(21:34
popeyyou can do it from the command line...21:39
aquariuspopey, ah, I'm not supposed to be able to upgrade an emulator from Ubuntu SDK?21:39
aquariusok, if that's the way, I'll file a bug about it :)21:40
popeyupgrade yes21:40
popeychange channel.. thats different21:40
popeyoh sorry, I'm confusing emulator and kit21:40
popeybrainfart21:40
aquariusyeah -- I can't see how to switch the channel of an emulator (and perhaps that is indeed not doable, and that's arguably correct), but I can't see how to *create* an emulator with a particular channel either. I created one with "devel", and I'm already being told in bugs that it's out of date, despite being about only a six week old release ;)21:41
nik90aquarius: via command line I create emulators by, "ubuntu-emulator create myemulator --arch=i386 --channel=ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09"21:43
nik90replace the channel with whatever you choose to21:43
aquariusand that will add that emulator to the devices pane in Ubuntu SDK?21:44
nik90Qtcreator at the moment, provides the option to select devel, devel-proposed channels but not rtm..I believe there is a critical bug about this already21:44
nik90yes21:44
aquariusOK21:44
aquariusI did look for a bug about it but couldn't find one :)21:44
* nik90 looks for it21:44
nik90aquarius: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu/+bug/138729921:45
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1387299 in qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu (Ubuntu) "Need to be able to create emulators for other image channels" [Undecided,New]21:45
aquariusaah: "image channels" is the magic phrase here!21:45
aquariuscheers21:45
* aquarius affects-me's the bug21:45
nik90looks like it has been fixed...just waiting to be released...you are in luck ;)21:45
aquariusya, noticed that :) I shall wait for the fix to arrive, yay!21:48
