rastkoHi! I have set up a pxe server to install Ubuntu minimal and configured a preseed file to install lubuntu-core and some other packages. Can anyone help me figure out why some packages are not installed? The most troublesome is openssh-server. This is my preseed option: d-i pkgsel/include openssh-server lubuntu-core firefox flashplugin-installer libreoffice vim evince-gtk virtualbox09:47
rastkoEverything installs except openssh-server, any ideas why?09:48
rastkoNever mind... missing "string" before openssh-server. Testing it now...10:29
kristalWill Lubuntu have an experimental LXQt spin like Kubuntu has a Plasma5 next release?11:25
leszekkristal: there are already experimental lxqt spins11:25
kristalIs it still on openbox or using kwin?11:26
leszekkristal: I did not test it yet. So not sure. I guess it is still using openbox though as this is the recommend window manager for lxqt11:27
kristalopenbox's creator seems to be going insane and kwin is lightyears ahead in tech, since LXDE is goign Qt the WM with official Qt support makes sense11:28
Garbonzokristal: what's the story with openbox? hadn't heard about that11:31
kristalGarbonzo:  Jansens has drank the SJW favour aid11:34
leszekkristal: yeah in my opinion kwin is better and it has a future with kwin_wayland. So sooner or later a switch would be wise. However this can still take a while11:34
kristalleszek: A lot of KDE people have been wanting a mini Qt/Kwin desktop for years, https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/2l5qwo/do_you_know_c_qt_you_can_contribute_to_lxqt/11:37

ath1where can I find instructions to configure my PC for win7 / ubuntu dual boot?18:31
ath1I want to use the win7 boot loader18:31
silverlionath1, that'll not going to be easy18:31
silverlionI have win7 with dualboot too and tried that... you may want to choose grub2 for boot loader18:32
ath1I already tried to install win7 first and ubuntu second (with grub). Then I copied the MBR to the win7 partition and added it to BCD.18:33
ath1Then I repaired the MBR within the win7 recovery console.18:34
ath1I can boot win7 now, but when I try to boot linux, the PC just restarts.18:35
ath1This always worked with grub1 but grub2 seems to handle things differently18:37
Novice201yHello. I installed Lubuntu Minimal on my netbook, end during boot time I see only flashing command promnt. Full Lubuntu works OK. What can I do?19:02
testdrNovice201y: what do u see? You expect graphics-gui? Did you install it?19:04
Novice201ytestdr, CLI would be enought. But I see only flashing command promnt "_", and cannot type anything.19:07
testdrNovice201y: try boot-option "nomodeset" - you need to edit the grub-boot-menu line - press "e" for edit, change it and then strg-x to boot the changed one. If it works, you may need to make the change fixed. And check you hardware-specs for such hints. mayby something more.19:09
Novice201ytestdr, But this "_" appears shortly after info screen about BIOS.19:10
Novice201ytestdr, And full version works OK.19:11
testdrNovice201y: you are not speaking about a booted linux-kernel? you speak about the boot-grub-menu? Maybe you have a graphic-setting for it, that wont work. Then the only way is to boot the live-cd-version and change the setting from this on the harddisk. Could be you need textmode for the grub-menu.19:13
testdrNovice201y: but like already said: check your hardware-specs for any hints about it. Normaly this never happened for me (with a lot different hardware)19:15
Novice201ytestdr, I rebooted netbook with installation-USB now and Lubuntu started.19:15
Novice201ytestdr, But without USB-pendrive system doesn't start.19:17
testdrNovice201y: what system? The ubuntu-live-version on the usb-stick or the installed version?19:17
Novice201ytestdr, Lubuntu Minimal from .iso19:17
testdrNovice201y: then do the install again and carefully note what you are doing. maybe the installation is corrupted - no clean install to boot. And you should give any hints about the hardware you are using!19:19
Novice201ytestdr, I copied one library from Ubuntu into pendrive, cause Unetbootin didn't do that. Maybe that the problem?19:21
testdrNovice201y: sorry, i dont know from what you are speaking. If you have a faulty install-version, then create a new one . The last lubuntu-mini-iso i used successful was the 14.04 iso, but the newer 14.04.1 should work the same.19:24
Novice201ytestdr, After "burning" .iso on pendrive, I receive message about lack of /menu.c32 file. Even for 14.0419:33
testdrNovice201y: i dont know anything about "burning". I "installed" the lubuntu-mini-iso direct like this - if the usb-stick is /dev/sdc, then with:   dd   if=lubuntu-14.04-alternate-i386.iso    of=/dev/sdc19:36
Novice201ytestdr, I'll do it!19:41
Novice201ytestdr, I receive "isolinux.bin" missing or corrupt for that prepared pendrive.19:42
Novice201ytestdr, I'll try this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/mkusb19:47
testdrNovice201y: check your hardware! I dont wanna guess whether the hardware cannot boot from usb or the boot-method was correct choosen or the usb-stick is bootable. For some old hardware, that could not boot from usb. I used the "plop" boot-manager to let it boot from the usb-stick.19:47
testdrNovice201y: so you did not use the "dd"-command like i wrote done?19:48
Novice201ytestdr, Works! Installer started after boot.19:51
Novice201ytestdr,https://help.ubuntu.com/community/mkusb19:52
testdrNovice201y: fine - that should already work - but i dont know what you did to make it work now.19:52
Novice201yNovice201y, I used mkusb19:52

muluntuis chromium included in lubuntu or was that before ? I only find firefox.22:11
dustis in repo22:11
ianorlinit is in repo but no longer default22:12
wxlmuluntu: we went back and forth on that issue but we decided to use firefox22:12
wxlmuluntu: biggest reason why is probably the fact that the chromium package wasn't well maintained and was always way behind the upstream source. bad idea for a browser.22:13
dustis orca installed? and the reason fore the pain?22:13
wxlmuluntu: if you want a secure chrome experience, i actually recommend using google chrome. they house their own repository and installing it will add the repo to your sources22:13
wxl!info orca22:13
