half_mastCan anyone tell me what channel should nexus 4 user should be using? I'm currently on utopic but I haven't had an update since October and I keep seeing images from the rtm channel.00:10
Riku-sanIs it possible to have a normal desktop on Ubuntu Touch? Instead of the homescreen, like Ubuntu Desktop for Nexus 7 that was dropped.00:38
Riku-sanwhy is ubuntu touch armel?01:12
Riku-santhe boot image is armhf01:13

Riku-sanI just installed Ubuntu Touch using ubuntu-device-flash, but now fastboot isn't working and the device won't boot to Ubuntu, only recovery works02:01

oSoMoNrpadovani, hey, I’ve just reviewed https://code.launchpad.net/~rpadovani/webbrowser-app/addressBarFullWidth/+merge/239039 , the change looks good but it breaks a number of autopilot tests (see my comment in the MR)09:46
seb128kenvandine, jgdxx, Laney, could one of you review/approve https://code.launchpad.net/~seb128/ubuntu-system-settings/build-translations-template/+merge/240696 ?09:47
oSoMoNdaker, hey, I don’t know if you ever saw my comments on https://code.launchpad.net/~daker/webbrowser-app/fix.airbnb-smartbanner/+merge/230855 ?09:48
rpadovanioSoMoN, ok, thanks, I'll try to take a look and fix it09:49
oSoMoNrpadovani, cheers! don’t hesitate to ping me for help, fixing autopilot tests can be arduous sometimes :/09:50
Laneyseb128: I didn't follow the reasoning, what good does that do?09:51
rpadovanioSoMoN, thanks!09:51
seb128Laney, it means the template is updated on package uploads and that we don't need to play catchup with manual updates commits in trunk09:51
Laneyso we use ubuntu translations? what happens to the one in trunk?09:52
seb128Laney, we stop using it10:00
seb128yes we use ubuntu translations10:00
seb128easier10:00
seb128dpm asked to keep the pot in trunk for a bit because it's used for stats10:00
seb128if stats are bit wrong it's not a big issue, better than having the template used for translations behind10:01
Laneydoes it still commit the updates to trunk?10:01
dpmLaney, yes10:01
Laneys/it/lp/10:01
Laneyokay!10:01
dpmLaney, regardless of where the translations are done (Ubuntu or upstream), they're committed to trunk. It's only that the Ubuntu template will be up-to-date with every upload, but the upstream one won't be up-to-date unless it's manually committed. This will make the stats to be a bit wrong, but until I can get the stats exported from Ubuntu, "a bit wrong" is still better than "no stats at all" :)10:03
seb128Laney, dpm, thanks10:08
dakeroSoMoN: I'll fix it10:12
oSoMoNdaker, thanks!10:13
seb128Laney, was bug #1384760 a whoopsie issue? did you say you were looking at it or talking to bdmurray about it?10:23
ubot5bug 1384760 in ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) "Reporting of crashes and errors randomly becomes enabled" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/138476010:23
Laneyseb128: never reproduced it, can you?10:23
seb128Laney, no, but I didn't try hard10:25
Laneywell, let's mark it as Incomplete until we get better steps10:26
marcustomlinsonmardy: ping10:27
mardymarcustomlinson: pong10:27
marcustomlinsonmardy: looking at your slides. The slide on scopes OA, there is a rough "a" before ".application and .service files"10:28
marcustomlinsonmardy: also the example then is only of a service file.10:28
marcustomlinsonmardy: then "unity-shell-api" should be "unity-scopes-api"10:29
mardymarcustomlinson: I did some changes, does it look better now?10:34
marcustomlinsonmardy: so the bold text in the stuff you copied from our API doc is the stuff to be highlighted.10:39
marcustomlinsonmardy: you've highlighted odd stuff :p10:40
mardymarcustomlinson: which slide?10:41
marcustomlinsonmardy: slide 13. Example: only "accounts" should be highlighted10:42
marcustomlinsonmardy: in the apparmor file10:42
marcustomlinsonmardy: the manifest file also has some bold text10:42
mardymarcustomlinson: right :-)10:42
marcustomlinsonmardy: hightlight the bold stuff10:43
mardymarcustomlinson: those are the OA-specific hooks10:43
marcustomlinsonmardy: right, which is what you want to draw attention too10:43
marcustomlinsonmardy: and just for some readability, on slide 14, could you insert a blank line before "// Check if our service is authenticated..."10:46

Riku-san_yes, a person12:43
Riku-san_I just installed Ubuntu Touch on my grouper, following the instructions exactly, but when it's done, it drops to a boot screen in which 'start' does nothing. Selecting 'reboot to bootloader' and then 'start' puts 'Booting failed' in the top left corner.12:44

mardymarcustomlinson: or maybe not; try without it, first14:48
kenvandinedednick, i just finished thoroughly testing my cherry-pick of the check.sync branch in rtm and found some things that failed which work in vivid14:49
dednickkenvandine: which things?14:49
kenvandineorientation-lock, wifi switch under battery, and data roaming under cellular14:49
kenvandinethe orientation-lock and wifi under battery both fail to stay in sync with the indicators14:50
marcustomlinsonmardy: right, it didn't error 401 this time :)14:50
marcustomlinsonmardy: but... It looks like Main.qml is trying to parse xml into JSON :p14:50
kenvandinethe data roaming under cellular isn't really changing the ofono setting, no indicator for that14:50
kenvandinedednick, so are you sure there aren't indicator/shell changes needed to keep those in sync with the indicator?14:51
dednickkenvandine: is the orientation lock gsetting changing, or is that broken?14:51
kenvandinelet me confirm14:51
marcustomlinsonmardy: but that was the right fix THANKS!14:51
kenvandinedednick, ok, that one is working it's the indicator is broken14:52
kenvandinei forgot that didn't work in rtm yet14:52
dednickkenvandine: ya. thought so14:52
dednickkenvandine: what's up with the wifi?14:52
mardymarcustomlinson: yw :-)14:52
kenvandinethe wifi switch under battery doesn't stay in sync with the network indicator14:52
kenvandinedednick, the wifi switch under wifi does stay in sync14:53
kenvandinedednick, that's weird though, because it works in vivid14:53
kenvandineand that code merged cleanly14:53
kenvandinedednick, it's in rtm silo 314:53
dednickkenvandine: depends if the battery & wifi use same backend14:54
dednickkenvandine: i'm having trouble with my devices at the mo. they aren't co-operating :/ testing is a bit of a trial14:54
kenvandinedednick, yeah, but that plugin hasn't diverged in vivid14:54
kenvandineso odd... let me compare the code14:54
dednickkenvandine: right, the wifi uses the indicator, and the battery uses libnm.14:56

seb128kenvandine, k15:42
kenvandinepmcgowan, confirmed, that bug is fixed in silo 315:42
dednickkenvandine, seb128: ok, it's actually an indicator-network issue. the backend switch value isn't updating. it's not a UI sync issue at least.15:43
kenvandinedednick, yeah15:43
pmcgowankenvandine, great15:43
kenvandinetedg, you proposed a branch for that15:43
pmcgowankenvandine, titles fix is approved to land, seems everyone likes that15:44
tedgkenvandine, Yeah, updating it now.15:44
kenvandinetedg, thanks15:44
tedgkenvandine, (quite literally, it was pushing as I was typing) :-)15:44
kenvandinethat should already be fixed in vivid and now in this branch for rtm15:44
kenvandinepmcgowan, woot15:44
kenvandineseb128, would you mind preparing a backport of that for rtm?15:45

seb128kenvandine, <kenvandine> maybe we can included jgdx's too15:47

pmcgowankenvandine, we can land it now if you want15:49
seb128it's non trivial and cosmetic15:49
kenvandineif for today, we should just take what's already in vivid15:49
kenvandinei'd like too15:49

kenvandinei think it's awesome :)15:49
seb128kenvandine, wfm15:49
kenvandineseb128, ok, can you prepare just the backport then?15:50
seb128it's a bit of suboptimal to have it incomplete, but better that nothing15:50

Tassadarrsalveti: hi, I'm working on some project where I need multiple instances of android emulator running, and adb often fails to connect to the emulator - it just shows the device as "offline" or not at all. Did you encounter that issue when working on the UT emulator? Or are you using ssh for everything?17:38

rsalvetieach emulator will have 2 adb ports17:45
rsalvetiand only one can really receive new connections17:46
Tassadarone is qemu console and one is adb connection from what I've understood17:46
Tassadarhmm, I'll try to make it "offline" in adb devices again and then specify where I wanna connect to17:46

rsalvetiadb devices should show them17:51
ogra_yeah17:51
ogra_and you can specify then with -s17:52
ogra_when connecting to one17:52
ogra_adb should also complain on the host that there are multiple devices17:52

kenvandineWellark, sure, we could do that18:33
dednicki mean "what is the reasoning behind that"18:33

Wellarkdednick: long story short: it was agreed in Malta that nobody should touch the WifiEnabled property of NM as it's problematic18:34
Wellarkit has some fundamental problems in terms of interaction18:34
dednicki c.18:34
Wellarkso we agreed that instead of using it18:34
Wellarkwe go to the radios directly through URfkill18:34

Wellark:)18:36
pmcgowankenvandine, is that not the same sync issue from earlier?18:36
kenvandineno18:36
kenvandineit's the battery plugin using libnm to control wifi instead of the action in the indicator18:36
kenvandinelike the wifi plugin does18:36
kenvandinepmcgowan, for some reason it works properly in vivid, but not rtm18:37
kenvandineso we just need to make it use the action just like the wifi plugin does18:37
Wellarkjust like 10 lines of QML18:37
kenvandinebut it's a regression in rtm, somewhere in the past few images18:37
pmcgowankenvandine, sounds good, attach an MR and we can approve landing18:37
kenvandineWellark, agreed... and we can drop some cpp18:37
Wellarkand indeed. there is a grave risk that hitting the switch item in the battery page does not actually power down the chipset18:38

bfillerrenatu, kenvandine : I tried it once for calendar but just an initial sync20:37
bfillerdidn't test making mods, etc20:37
pierrechi all20:46
kenvandinerenatu, bfiller: so is that a no for now?20:46
pierrecI've got a question concerning installing unbuntu touch on a nexus4...20:47
bfillerkenvandine: I think so, unless renatu has run through the full test plan20:47
kenvandinerenatu, ok, it's up to you then :)20:47
renaturenatu, is too much for me, lets wait more :D20:47
pierrecI'm trying to do it, using ubuntu-device-flash, but I get stuck in recovery mode after a few lines of CLI ouput...20:48
kenvandinerenatu, haha, if you are telling yourself that, i guess i'll hold off too :)20:48
renatu:D20:49
pierrec(I'm using the --bootstrap flag, and I start in teh bootloader on my nexus 420:49
kenvandinepierrec, not sure, did you bootstrap in fastboot mode?20:49
pierrecanyone has seen this behaviour before?20:49
pierrecyes20:49
pierrec(I guess)20:49
kenvandinepierrec, sorry, i haven't seen that20:50
bfillerrenatu: run through the test plan for calendar and contacts and if it works I'm +120:50
pierrecI did: "adb reboot bootloader"20:50
bfillerI only spend a few minutes on it20:50
kenvandineunless maybe you weren't in fastboot20:50
pierrecok. how do I get in fastboot?20:50
pierrec(I probably messed that up)20:50
renatuI am using it on my daily phone but I did not go through the tests plan yet20:50
renatuI will do that20:51
kenvandinepierrec, after rebooting into the bootloader20:51
kenvandinefastboot devices20:51
kenvandinedoes that show your device?20:51
kenvandineand did you run "sudo fastboot oem unlock" ?20:52
pierreckevandine: I did the second thing (got the bootloader to say: unlocked)20:52
kenvandineok20:52
kenvandineand you rebooted into fastboot right?20:52
kenvandinebefore running ubuntu-device-flash with --bootstrap?20:53
sarnoldhello, is it expected that my nexus 4 never actually updates any of the applications on the device? I haven't seen any upgrades ever work and I'm wondering if this is known or if everyone just flashes entirely new images often enough to not see this20:53
pierrecI'm gonna give it another go... (boot in android, and then use fastboot to reboot?20:53
pierrec)20:53
kenvandinepierrec, no, don't boot into android20:53
pierrecuhm20:54
pierrecso from the bootloader?20:54
kenvandineReboot into the bootloader by pressing the correct physical button combination for your device type as shown here: https://source.android.com/source/building-devices.html#booting-into-fastboot-mode20:54
pierrecdone20:54
kenvandinesarnold, what channel?20:54
taiebotsarnold: you need to re-enter your ubuntu one acount20:54
sarnoldtaiebot: ooooooo20:54
kenvandinepierrec,  now you should be able to flash with --bootstrap20:54
pierrecsudo fastboot devices does show my device20:54
sarnoldtaiebot: would you know off-hand how to file a bug against the "Updates" part of the system settings?20:55
pierreckenvadine: thanks for the help, but I get the exact same problem20:56
kenvandinesarnold, just file it against the ubuntu-system-settings package20:56
sarnoldkenvandine: I've got "ubuntu 14.10 (r7) in the system information screen20:56
kenvandinesarnold, is it about this issue?  because that's a bug that has already been fixed20:56
taiebotsarnold: there was a change which required people to re-enter there ubuntu one account  https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/ this has been discussed plenty of time in the mailing list20:56
sarnoldkenvandine: thanks20:56
kenvandinepierrec, sorry... dunno then :/20:57
taiebotsarnold: Do not bother it will be rejected has it was fixed already. You just did not know :-D.20:58
jgdxkenvandine, superseeded due to failing tests, so nothing major20:58
jgdxupower failure, that is20:58
kenvandineyeah, i've already rebuilt it in the silo with the new branch20:58
kenvandinejgdx, can you review my branch?20:58
jgdxkenvandine, sure20:58
kenvandineit's blocking the silo :)20:58
kenvandinehttps://code.launchpad.net/~ken-vandine/ubuntu-system-settings/lp1391940/+merge/24160720:59
kenvandinejgdx, and if you want to test it, you can grab vivid silo 520:59
sarnoldtaiebot: I disagree that it has been fixed :) a huge pile of "0%" progress bars is not wonderful :)20:59
sarnoldtaiebot: but now that i've re-signed-in it's downloading as I expected. Thanks! It feels a lot less broken now...21:00
kenvandinesarnold, yeah... problem is you needed to get an update to get the fix :/21:00
jgdxkenvandine, like a normal silo?21:00
sarnoldkenvandine: r7 is known broken?21:00
kenvandinejgdx, yeah, ubuntu 521:00
kenvandinesarnold, i'm sure that's from before the u1 token change21:00
kenvandinedobey, ^^ you would know for sure21:01
kenvandine14.10 r7 sounds pretty old :)21:01
taiebotsarnold: i know but we are still all beta-tester  :-D at the moment there is still some bugs that needs to be solved by the user. Sometime it is useful to get your hands dirty.21:01
sarnoldkenvandine: heh, it just downloaded 14.10 r7 last night21:02
kenvandinesarnold, what channel?21:02
kenvandinei have 15.10 (r18)21:02
kenvandinewhoops21:02
kenvandine15.0421:02
sarnoldkenvandine: About This Phone says "14.10 (r7)", no idea what channel that is..21:03
taiebotI have 14.10 rtm 13021:03
taiebotYou are on the stable release of the rtm21:03
kenvandinesarnold, what channel did you install from last night?21:03
kenvandineyou can also click on "OS" in the about panel of system-settings21:03
kenvandinealthough that doesn't clearly show the channel21:04
kenvandineannoying21:04
sarnoldkenvandine: I haven't used the phablet-flashy thing in weeks, I've been using the OTA updates21:04
sarnold... are we not supposed to use the OTA updates?21:04
kenvandinesarnold, yes... you should21:04
taiebotsarnol: yes but there are too may channels.......21:04
taiebotmany sorry21:05
kenvandineso your might have gotten the latest from an older channel21:05
sarnoldkenvandine: ah there it is, ubuntu utopic unicorn (development branch) 20141107-15300021:05
sarnoldargh21:05
sarnoldsigh21:05
sarnoldso I've been fiddlinmg with a zombie? sure it gets updates but no one else cares about it?21:05
ogra_all focus is on 14.09 RTM21:06
kenvandineso you must be using the utopic channel not the devel alias to the channel21:06
taiebotsarnold: be careful this ones might get very edgy, i would advise you to be on the channel you are on21:06
kenvandineso it didn't get switched automatically21:06
ogra_(for QA and fixes)21:06
kenvandinesarnold, ubuntu-device-flash --channel=devel21:06
kenvandineor devel-proposed21:06
sarnoldhehe, 14.09 "sounds" even older than 14.10 :)21:06
kenvandineto switch21:06
ogra_kenvandine, no, the devel alias still points to utopic until there is the first promoted vivid image21:07
kenvandineah!21:07
kenvandinethat's why21:07
ogra_which means we need to pull resources out of stabilizing RTM 14.09 ... to verify the images21:07
kenvandinesarnold, so listen to ogra_, not me :)21:07
ogra_but we dont have these atm21:07
kenvandinesarnold, i run devel-proposed (vivid) on my mako21:08
sarnold"Seth Should Install ____ on his nexus 4 to be most helpful"  :)21:08

jgdxkenvandine, I thought it maybe came before the resize fix?21:26
kenvandinejgdx, that should be21:27
kenvandineand it worked for me21:27
