[01:16] Evening [01:39] what you up to cmaloney ? [01:53] Sitting at CHC playing with the MUG site some [01:53] code reviews! [01:53] Going to head to the parking meter. :) [01:53] brb. [01:53] anyone else need a review? [01:55] rick_h_: NO! [01:55] :) [01:56] yay! [12:04] Good morning [13:05] morn [13:17] Icy morning. I hope you all survived the commute [13:20] the stairs were a little damp but ok :) [13:23] I saw no less than 10 crashed cars on my 4 mile commute [13:24] morn [13:24] no ice on this side of the state [13:24] not yet anyways [13:25] I stopped at Tim hortons half way to work and watched the salt trucks finally roll out [13:30] Managed to see some flakes on the drive in [13:32] brousch: how much snow on the ground? [13:33] Maybe 2" [14:29] it was snowing when i woke up this morning [14:29] almost cried [14:29] i don't actually mind snow as long as we have enough of it [14:29] light snow is the worst [14:56] anyone know of a company looking for a devop like position [15:20] nullspace: I think there was one at the last MUG meeting. I kept a flyer from it but tossed it when I got home. [15:21] Post to the MUG discuss list [15:21] I'm sure there's at least one. [15:21] nullspace: arbor networks has positions open looking for devops people. [15:21] nullspace: hiring manager is Bryan Beecher [16:14] Wow, this blog series is full of useful little tidbits http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2014/11/how-to-create-a-raspberry-pi-video-capture-unit-part-1/ [19:54] brousch: Thanks for sending the snow this way. :P [19:54] i don't see any snow... [19:55] * brousch adjusts his blizcannon a bit [20:15] heh === mrgoodcat is now known as mrgoodcatafk === mrgoodcatafk is now known as mrgoodcat [20:34] It was sunny and snowing here 1/2 hr ago [20:35] it's rained here last night, which is as special as snow in MI [20:35] <_stink_> do you go out to make rainmen? [20:36] I have like 4 inchs on the ground here and high of 10. [20:36] <_stink_> wow [20:37] wow... [20:37] where is 'here'? [20:37] marquette? [20:37] South west part of CO is going to get a few feet of snow. [20:37] Just move to Colorado [20:37] oh cool [20:37] i love colorado [20:38] I'd love to move there as well [20:38] I really like it too. There are tons of hiking trails. [20:38] Lot of people are moving to CO it seems. [20:39] downhill mountainbiking [20:39] CO is the new Texas. [20:39] i broke my bike last time i was in CO though... [20:39] D: [20:39] my carbon seatpost shattered and my bike basically exploded under me [20:39] DAMN mrgoodcat ! [20:40] yea it was bad news [20:40] didn't get hurt though so that's good [20:41] and Trek subsidized my replacement frame [20:41] Yeah thats really good. [20:41] not free but significantly discounted [20:41] jrwren: the new tx? [20:42] i think he means with people moving there and all that [20:42] people did that for TX? [20:42] Austin TX had a population explosion recently [20:42] a [20:42] ah [20:42] Austin would be the only place I would live in that state...... [20:44] austin is overgrown [20:44] its cool but just way overcrowded [20:45] if i want to live somewhere crowded i'll go to Chicago [20:45] Its a fun young town. [20:46] my cousin lives there and loves it [20:46] works for some telecomm company [20:46] the write software for voip office phones [20:47] I hear its a fun little weird city [20:49] what mrgoodcat said. [20:50] your cousin works for some telecomm company? [20:51] inb4 no thats not what i meant [20:52] I cannot do Android dev on this tablet. There's just not enough RAM for Windows 8.1 + Android Studio + anything else [20:54] i think i predicted that iirc [20:54] maybe i was talking about visual studio [20:54] I got the emulator to run once, but with nothing else running [20:55] And android Studio sort of works, until the Java heap runs out of space [20:56] bummer [20:56] ¯\( ° ʖ °)/¯ [20:56] what can you do? [20:56] i suppose you could add more RAM [20:56] Pycharm and Kivy [20:56] 2GB right? [20:56] You cannot add more ram to this [20:57] That'd be like adding more ram to a nexus 7 tablet [20:57] rly? [20:57] is it not slotted RAM? [20:57] I could try visual Studio Community and make metro apps [20:58] It's a tablet. Everything is soldered on [20:59] I'm not sure I can even open this without breaking it [21:00] what model? [21:00] android emulator has always been a beast. super slow. [21:00] well it has to emulate ARM right? [21:00] is android emulator still the ugly grey gradient UI? [21:00] or does android run well on x86 now? [21:00] mrgoodcat: android has run on x86 for a LONG time, but I don't think the android SDK works that way :) [21:00] I tried the ARM and x86 virtual devices [21:02] The emulator isn't the real problem though - I could test on a real device [21:02] Studio dying on not very hard tasks is the problem [21:02] yay eclipse! [21:03] this is what happens when software is java and jvm :p [21:07] Android Studio is not Eclipse. It's based on the android IDE from JetBrains [21:08] besides that, the JVM is pretty good [21:25] oh?!? [21:25] I always thought android studio was based on eclipse. [21:25] so android studio is a free version of IDEA?!?! [21:28] Yeah, They started making an Android IDE several years ago. Google bought it to replace Eclipse+ADT and has been improving it since then [21:31] sounds nice. IDEA is a great IDE [21:31] too bad its jabba :) [21:33] If i could get Lubuntu on this I might have a chance at running it [21:33] ~1.5GB free instead of 750MB [21:40] I assume you have dropped your settings down to basic on Windows? [21:42] services.msc stop all servers :] [21:43] you might be able to get lubuntu on it [21:44] win 8.1 you can get it to be really light [21:55] that is what I thought, because they target 1GB RAM tablets, but are there good guides on how to configure it that way? [22:00] I am sure there is. [22:00] Dropping into basic graphics I think was as easy as going into display and turning off areo effects and going to classic mode. [22:18] couldn't that be actually worse because it won't use GPU and GPU memory? [22:37] http://www.reddit.com/r/progmetal/comments/2m6pdz/cloudkicker_push_it_way_up_live_with_intronaut/ [22:37] I can't fucking wait for this album.
